Hollinger: Health Big for NBA's Best and Worst

John Hollinger looks at why the NBA's biggest surprises, the Thunder, Grizzlies, Hawks and Rockets, have done so well. Good health among the top six players on each team is the answer. Atlanta's top six have missed two games! On the other hand, the Nets' top six have missed 82, "which made a bad situation worse". That's third worst in a league where the median is 31. Portland's top six have missed 162 games.

I don’t like John Hollinger very much at all.

I’m sure he’s ok with that

iN 2006-07 when we all predicted 55 wins, Hollinger threw cold water on the Nets hopes, saying they had escaped 2005-06 with few injuries and the next year, it would come back to haunt them. The odds were against them. He predicted 42 wins. He was right.

i would like to know who those top 6 players are because only brook and devin shoo-ins in that groups…

devin needs to develop a more reliable outside shot.

yi the “muscle devil” needs to be more devilish in the weight room!

That’s one of the reasons I can see trading Harris if we were to get Wall. If he’s been as injury prone as he has been for his 24-26 year old seasons, he missed like 20 games in 07-08, I think 14 last year, what’s it going to be like as he gets older?

I’m pretty sure Hollinger was referring to Devin, Lee, CDR, Yi, Brook, and Hayes. And of course, Yi, Devin, Yi and Hayes were all out within the first week of the season.

Whoops, I’ve got Yi on my mind so much I listed him twice!

Lol, Golden State’s have probably missed 300+.

Hollinger for the most part has been correct with his assessments about this team for the last few seasons.

sorry my post got cut off

we’ve had most of our players back and we still can’t put together any wins, so I think the injury angle is overblown. It’s not as if the team has been any better or worse with certain people in and out of the line up.
