Statistically Speaking, Nets Should Tie Futility Mark

If you look at the end of the season, things don't look too bright. Eight of the Nets' last 10 games are against teams likely to be fighting for their playoff lives, and their last two opponents, the Bobcats and Heat, could be fighting each other. Using statistical sampling, the Wall Street Journal is predicting nine wins, but warns, as they often do on the Street, past results are no guarantee of future performance.

It just doesn’t matter, IT JUST DOESN’T MATTER! What matters is the draft and who we sign in July. BOSH would be a dream signing, really. Bosh and Joe Johnson would be a home run. Lebron is not really possible, neither is DWADE. Boozer is having a career year. I don’t care how many games we win this year. IT JUST DOESN’T MATTER.

Paul,
It does matter. This team not being able to even get 9 wins will be the reason why guys like Bosh will say “no thank you”.

If you look at our remaining schedule, we have a pretty tough go.
Boston
Washington
Cleveland
Orlando
New York
Memphis
Dallas
Oklahoma City
Houston
Atlanta
Philadelphia
Toronto
Miami
Sacramento
Detroit
Chicago
San Antonio
Phoenix
New Orleans
Washington
Milwaukee
Chicago
Indiana
Charlotte
Miami
Boston, Cleveland, Orlando, Dallas are guaranteed losses already.
New York, Memphis, Oklahoma City, Atlanta, Toronto, Miami, San Antonio, Phoenix, Charlotte are likely losses.
Only possible wins could come from Washington, Houston, Philadelphia, Sacramento, Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, Milwaukee, and Indiana if we get lucky

It matters alright, it’s just a question of how much..

I don’t think how many games we win now will matter. As long as the team plays hard and the young players remain positive, we should be just fine, come free agent courting time.
I would not want a FA who would sign with us because we won 12 games as opposed to 8. That FA would be a moron…

I think it matters inasmuch as the free agents will assess the situation. The situation we have currently is we are the worst team in the history of the NBA. If the free agent looks at the Nets and sees ‘current situation + me = still awful situation’ then the Nets are not going to be in the game for anyone who values winning. The thing the Nets have to do to have a realistic shot at attracting someone without wildly overpaying for lesser talent is to change their current situation and present that new situation to free agents. Top draft pick, top coach would help a lot. Ability to bring over two free agents as opposed to just one could be the ticket. We will see how it goes….but we may have to wait until 2011 unless we are able to change the current situation quite radically, quite soon.

It doesn’t really matter who the opponent is. The Nets are by far the worst. The only wins come when the opposing team doesn’t come ready to play due to fatigue. I wouldn’t be surprised if Eddie Jordan tanked the preseason game as a favor to Frank knowing full well that it was likely to be Frank’s only win this year.

@ Paul Erstein
Screw Bosh and his big mouse. How many playoff games his team won?
