Scottie Pippen - Prokhorov Pal

The identities of Mikhail Prokhorov's "basketball people" has been a bit of a mystery but there's one big name who's not only done work for the billionaire; he's even played with him. Scottie Pippen and Prokhorov played in a charity game last January in Moscow. Apparently it's not a one time thing. Pippen traveled to Siberia last month to help initiate a Prokhorov-funded basketball program.

We should hire Scottie to be the team’s next coach. After all, the problem with Lawrence Frank was that he never played in the league. If only the team had replaced him with a high scoring small forward who’s succeeded in the league, then the team would be…

Oh wait.

“Pippen traveled to Siberia last month…”

I guess Nets players might actually be sent to Siberia. LMAO

They used to be afraid of being sent to the NBA’s Siberia, the D-League. Now, they could be sent to the REAL Siberia. I have a few candidates.

One thing is Pippen can teach Twill how to be a true Point Forward.

I would love Pippen as an assistant coach for this team.

The guy knew how to play on both sides of the court. The guy was underrated. He was the backbone to those championship teams. Yeah Jordan was amazing but Pippen was the perfect ROBIN. Pippen gave new meaning to the S-WING MAN!!!!

I would love for Pippen to get in there and teach the wing players. They all can use the presence of a respected player who has been there and done that.

CDR would relate to Pippen very well since they both used perceived slight as an excuse to quit on their teams.

Scottie Pippen is an all-time favorite. I am disappointed to hear he is involved with Prokorov.

by Isaac on Feb 24, 2010 11:44 AM EST reply actions

Pippen seem like a tough guy who will scream at your face if you suck. I think Lee and Yi might benefit from this.

I would give him a chance.

I don’t have much to say about this, although I’d like to see Scottie Pippen work with young guns CDR and Terrence Williams. Maybe as an assistent coach, next to a veteran head coach.

means nothing to me.

@Isaac
I am sure he’s devastated.

by Net Income on Feb 24, 2010 12:33 PM EST reply actions

Please – no Scottie Pippen. He is the poster child for an ego without support.

When MJ was not on the Court, Pippen would attempt to be the offensive star – with poor results. He made bad decisions and took bad shots. When MJ “retired” the first time, Pippen’s weakness, both in attitude and talent, were exposed. But, no weakness was greater in SP than leadership ability.

@ robby – Are you a fan of Harris?

by SIC on Feb 24, 2010 12:55 PM EST reply actions

robby forgets that when Jordan was gone, Pippen was an MVP candidate.

…and the Bulls won 55 games.

by Net Income on Feb 24, 2010 1:03 PM EST reply actions

I think that we should sign him to play for the Nets…….and maybe Prokhorov…..

by NetFan48 on Feb 24, 2010 1:03 PM EST reply actions

Pippen averaged 22ppg 8rpg 5apg in 93-94 and carried the Bulls to 3rd place in the Eastern conference, and lost to a solid Knicks team in 7 games. There isn’t anything bad that you can say about Pippen on the court.

I can assure you I know him better than you.

at Robby:

You are ripping on an all-time great. Even MJ knows the Bulls don’t win SIX NBA Titles without Scottie. Offense wasn’t his primary game – but he should could run the floor and fill it up in the lane. He is one of the greatest defensive small forwards in the history of the game and a flat-out winner. If the NBA wasn’t fixed and the Blazers were allowed to defeat the Lakers in that game 7 in 2000, Portlant likely would have gone on to defeat Indiana in the Finals that year and Scottie likely would have gotten his 1st ring without MJ and 7th overall.

@Isaac
Then beseech him to stop taking money from Prokhorov and save the real, authentic New Jersey Nets fans like yourself from the ignominy of moving to Brooklyn. If you know him that well, you would have known he has been paling around with Proky.

@Dollar Bills

That was also the year he refused to take the court in a playoff game because Jackson called a play for another player. He also fouled Hubert Davis on a last second 3 point attempt to lose the series for the Bulls.

He was like CDR…if CDR had talent.

FIRE KIKI!!!
HIRE PIPPEN!!!

Hollah!

Not sure if anyone noticed this, if you look at the photo of Pip tossing the tip off, and zoom in on it, i think it’s mega quality anyways, the kid on the right of the photo has a golden tooth. Socialist health care works!

“He also fouled Hubert Davis on a last second 3 point attempt to lose the series for the Bulls.”

That was one of the most disputed calls in NBA playoff history, even some members of the Knicks were in disbelief they got that whistle. I believe even Davis himself has joked about it in recent years.

Thorn can’t fire Kiki!!
Kiki, Yormarket and Stern are united behind support for Yi.
Thorn is powerless.
