Same Ol' Story, but Brook Gets a New Nickname

Power rankings are out. You know the story...30, 30, 30, 30 ad infinitum. But John Schuhmann breaks up the monotony by giving Brook Lopez a new nickname. How about Brook "the Bright Spot" Lopez? Works for us. Right now, the Nets are one game ahead of the Sixers' pace in 1972-73, but mathematically, they project out to 7-75. How soon before vets buyouts and D-League auditions?

Why is D-League such a bad thing? There is an open roster spot already. Are Nets waiting to grab someone who is going to be cut from another team?
I’ll bet there are a number of D-Leaguers who could help the Nets more than Yi, who is due for a “save face” injury – where is SWAT when we need him?
Nets should bring up the best PF, who would fit with the Nets, immediately before some other team beats them to the punch.
If Nets really care about the Fans, they should bring him up now and worry about buy-outs later.

His nickname should be “Big Baby”, but that name is already taken.
He will either grow up fast and realize he is the future leader of the Nets or he will opt out when he becomes a FA.
I hope he stays and stops sulking when thing don’t go right.
A sulking leader usually is not an effective leader.
Lets go Brook. Lets go Nets…

Today is one day closer to leaving the Swamp for Newark, that is good news.

I don’t follow D-League, but here are 2 names that have been mentioned. I am willing to bet they would make the Nets better right now than would Yi.
Dwayne Jones

and
Alexander Johnson

Check them out. Is there anyone, not named Kiki, who doubts they would help more than Yi?
Fire Kiki
Hollah

Dwayne Jones and Alexander Johnson are 26/27 years old.
Could it just be that they are being overlooked because of their age?
If they were the same players but say 22 years old, would they already be on a NBA roster?? But then Yi should be 25 now, going on 22. Get the analogy?
Should the Nets really care? They have an opportunity to pay a bargain price to help win 5 more games. What is that worth to management?

Can we sign rasherd mccants please????
He can score with no problem…he’s the best available if no one else already signed him

Who’s playing time are these “D” League players going to take?
by Mike on Feb 22, 2010 2:20 PM EST reply actions
Can we stop talking of redundant scorers?
I’m content to wait on free agency and hopefully get the number 1 or two pick. Wall or Turner or bust

I’d also like to see D-league guys in here fighting for a future spot instead of guys like Yi who are useless if they can’t shoot efficiently

Yeah; we can get D-League players to take Yi’s spot and Harris spot and C.Lee’s and Hayes and maybe even Lopez’s. Brook must be real tired by now and maybe he can come off the bench and let one of these D-Leaguers take his place as a starter.

No d-leaguer wants to com here anyway! They rather play on a winning team in the D-league than to come play for a losing and a couple of $Grand.

Lopez got to stop getting mad and leave after the game..and talk to the media and teammats…
Its a teamgame..win as a team and loose as a team…talk to your teammats…communicate…

why would the Nets bring in some D-League player? For what reason?
Yi, CDR, Lee, harris are playing like crap. What the Nets are trying to do is give these guys more minutes to play and hope they get it together and start getting some wins. Bringing a D-League player serves no purpose but take away more minutes from these guys.

@jj
No d-league player wants to come here???
Playing in the nba with a losing team, and they have a legitamite shot of playing extended minutes.. they would love to play here.. trust me. Its like a jv player proving himself to play on varsity.

As long as they take Yi’s minutes, and his alone, that would be fine. Problem is what to do about Kiki, who would probably take away Hump and Boone’s minutes instead.
Yi is due for an injury. That would be the only way for everyone to “save face”.

@JJ
I like to think things that way rather than saying nets are the cheapest franchise of all of basketball not wanting to waste a penny to entertain real nets fans like us on this site. I would love to see Rashad McCants Alexander Johnson and Dywane Jones in a Nets Uniform taking Simmons, Battie, and Hassell place, but the chances of that happening are slim Nets don’t want to spend money Nets Income should know that.
THIS WOULD BE MY LINEUP:Lee and Yi suck 11th and 12th men
Lopez/Jones
Johnson/Humpries
Hayes/George (GS STATE)
McCants/Williams
Harris/Dooling
by jj on Feb 22, 2010 4:16 PM EST reply actions
Jones career high in points(9) and off rebounds(8) was against Nets.
Alexander Career high is 23 points and 10 rebs
McCants career high is 34 points 4 steals

Seeker, Harris and Lee have played better this month than they have all season, both were awful yesterday though. As for CDR, well it’s hard to play like crap when you hardly play.

Clearly Kiki is scared that a D-Leaguer may “show-up” his boy.
by jerry25 on Feb 22, 2010 6:08 PM EST reply actions
@ akara, just because Lopez leaves after the game doesn’t mean he ignores his teammates. He leaves when he doesn’t want to talk to the media, and honestly he has talked to the media alot of times and frankly he just looks nervous during interviews. . Don;t associate not communicating with the media to not communicating with teammates. But if you have reasoning that would suggest brook doesn’t communicate enough with his teammates i would like to hear that.
