Walsh: Kidd the Toughest Net

When Tim Walsh gets on the floor, it's never good news. Someone is hurt and Walsh is in his kneeling position. He's been doing it for 26 years treating Knicks and Nets, All-Stars and Olympians. Of all the players he's treated, he says none has been as tough than Jason Kidd. "He was off the charts," Walsh tells Jaclyn Sabol, noting how there were times Kidd couldn't walk before practice and yet played the game.

Kidd was not only the toughest Net, but the hardest working, most passionate, and was a winner.

He was the most fun to watch and played like a ture competiter, making few mistakes and constantly hustling.

His outstanding play was in direct porportion to his amazing work ethic off the court. the man was a straight up warrior and in times of toughness he made me proud to say im a nets fan.

I appreciate jason kidds hard work in jersey and i hope to see him win it all before the end of his career.

It brings a tear to my eye thinking about how great Kidd was as a Net.

by pawley on Feb 16, 2010 4:31 PM EST reply actions

that makes you realize that the “headache” that kept him out of a game was not real - if the guy would fight through anything to play, then you know there were deeper issues than a headache that kept him from playing. It’s unfortunate because as soon as Kidd decided he was “done” – we were “done” — wish we could have kept working, but hey it shows you the power of a true star on a team, especially a player like Kidd, when he’s on, he can get a team to do the impossible, when he’s off, nothing works!

JKidd was the best, if it not had been for Vince Carter’s knee bump in Oct-Nov 2002 which led to Tim saying this we would hav e been the 2003 NBA Champions

No surprise there… He still is tough as nails.

Correction 2003-2004 campaign. Frank learnt his first playoff lesson defend for 48 minutes not a second less. We should have won that Pistons series. IZOD was at its loudest Game 3 and 4 those were proud moments one can never forget

Kidd was so tough that the one incident he wasn’t, got him into big trouble and eventually led to his trade.

That was when he told everyone he couldn’t play, because he had a migraine! Some people actually believed him at the time.

J-Kidd was the greatest Nets player ever!

First preseason game in 2001, Kidd’s first game in a Nets uniform. MAYBE 500 fans in the gym…three-four weeks after 9-11, WTC still smoldering in the distance.

He addresses the crowd, says trust us, have fun. Not long after that, on a fast break, Kidd throws a bounce pass alley oop. I knew right then.

The greatest NBA net ever. He is the reason i hold all these other players to such a high standard. He was the embodiment of a warrior. You ever see him fight thru a pick? Outrebound taller players in the paint? His demeanor trickled down to the whole team at the time. I will always say that a team takes on its pg’s mentality.

Jason Kidd = Greatest Net ever.

He undoubtedly should have finished his career here if not for the despicable ownership group that took over. Enough said.

@Sunil:

That was in the 2003-2004 season.

Opening night, fateful knee collision with Carter that would lead to the microfracture surgery.

If Kidd were healthy, they completely would have done better than 47-35 (Kidd and Martin sat out so many games that year) and would definitely have made it to the ECF at the very least.

no argument here. J Kidd was greatness. I appreciate him so much more now that he’s gone. amazing player.

Greatest Net ever: Julius Erving
If you agree the ABA years count.

We haven’t had many great players, however, we had Kidd in his best years and it showed. It was a pleasure to watch him play every game. I had so much pride as a Nets fan when he was with us. I wanted so badly for him to win a championship with us. We just came up a little short, but, what a fun bunch of years to watch basketball as a Nets fan! His jersey HAS to hang in our rafters when he retires!

Kidd in his prime put 16-8-10

no one in modern days could come up with such numbers + leadership and an almost divine like talent…

when kidd retires, the NBA will surely loose a great and dedicated & devoted to the game player!!!

Kidd we love you

Kidd > Kobe

Kidd is the MAN!!!! :D :D :D :D

Kidd was the toughest Net? And his last year he couldn’t play with a headache, that’s not tough.

Great Net to could ever get someone fired or demand a trade

by Julia on Feb 16, 2010 10:34 PM EST reply actions

J was the Nets. Nothing more to say, a true competitor with an eternal fire in him to succeed.
