Durant a Big Fan of Nets' Big Man

The Nets have put together video clips from NBA stars praising Brook Lopez. No one's more enthusiastic than Kevin Durant: "If not the best center in the East, then the second best center in the East. He's the truth, the next big thing. He can shoot the jump shot, he can shoot the hook, shoot with his left hand. His touch around the rim is impeccable." Bill Simmons thinks B-Lo is the NBA's 14th most untouchable player.

Nice. Isn’t Durant a restricted free agent 2011??

Wouldn’t mind tanking another year if it “nets” Durant.

yup

I hope articles like this stop the hate some people have for Brook. He’s just great.

Wow high praise from Beasely, Ewing and Durant. Brook does have all of the tools. Put some talent around him and watch how much better he gets.

by supreme on Feb 16, 2010 5:16 PM EST reply actions

@Supreme brook definitely has all the tools and With some better talent (hopefully veteran talent) he will continue to grow. Also, more muscle and a better coach would do him good.

I wish Kevin Durant was a free agent this summer I rather him than lebron.

I was shocked at Beasley giving Brook high praise, that was really cool for him to do. Brook certainly has won over his peer, and the praise is well deserved.

Keep your head up Brook

i too would rather have durant then lebron. lebrons obviously better to build a franchise around but durant is like jordan! the kid can flat out score and his offensive game is so pure. I dont think the thundedr would ever let him go thoug, nor do i believe he wants to go.

Irrelevant. There is no possible offer that OKC would not match for Durant. In fact, I don’t see any way that there will even be a bidder for Durant — Durant will likely take the LeBron/Wade type deal from OKC to get his big free agent payday as soon as possible (assuming that the collective bargaining agreement doesn’t change the terms of these things – which is a bad assumption).

@ Al – As soon as possible – wouldn’t that be THIS SUMMER?

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Feb 16, 2010 6:09 PM EST reply actions

I think so.

by Al on Feb 16, 2010 6:13 PM EST reply actions

Anything is possible. If the new owner wants him anything is possible as long as he’s willing to overpay for a talent like Durant. Nets could pay him up front like what kiki did with Kenyon Martin including bonuses.

It would leave the Heat with a major whole at PF, if u call stoudemire a center.

Bill Simmons also said Devin Harris Value is not untouchable he also pointed out the best contracts that are not rookies someone the nets could get is Beidrens and Maggette from G.S. FOR Yi,Lee and Simmons and isnt Biedrens Russian?

Recignition from one’s peers is the best praise. Brook is young and will be a force. I can’t understand all of the negative comments that are placed here. In a few years other teams will be trying to figure out how to get Brook as a FA.

Brook is the bright light in an otherwise very dark year.

by OPutney on Feb 16, 2010 6:25 PM EST reply actions

Lol at all this sudden desire to get KD. Praising someone doesn’t mean that the guy will go as far as to leave his team for you. And Al is right, no way OKC would let Durant go via free agency.

by Antoine on Feb 16, 2010 6:25 PM EST reply actions

Not to be a naysayer, but KD is the cornerstone of that franchise. I think we would have to pay an entire max contract as a lumpsum payment to get him.

To much time on my hands….and thinking of Brook’s future.

The balls bounce right and we get the #1 pick.

New Orleans needs to dump salaries to survive and quit wasting CP3’s prime years. Impossible for NO to trade CP3 without fan revolt unless you get a superstar back. Trade #1 pick (Wall and all the hype), assorted draft picks (number 2’s or Dallas #1) and expiring contracts for CP3.

Trade Devin to Washington for expiring contracts and their #1 which will be at least a #5. Washington needs a PG and a solid citizen after the Arenas/Jarvis C meltdown and are rebuilding – Devin fits (by the way I love Devin but there are only a handful of untradeables in the entire league). We will get a good player at #5 and keep our cap space that we lost by adding CP3’s higher salary.

CP3 pick and roll will fit perfect with Brook making him a regular all star. If it made Tyson Chandler look great imagine what it will do to BLopez’s stats!

CP3 + Brook = instant powerful attraction for Lebron (2011 or 2012)or Melo (2012).

CP3 + Brook + Melo + #5 pick in 2010 (or trade for mean and nasty rebounding defending power forward) + (Clee, Yi, TWILL and assorted draft picks and veterans willing to join a title contender) = fun + frequent parades.

It could happen. Just waiting for the financial shoes to start dropping on owners and players. Big deals are going to start happening and some will have made no sense as recently as last year.

Ah, the thoughts of having John Wall and Brook!

by JustinNJ on Feb 16, 2010 7:20 PM EST reply actions

I like durant…quiet and humble…yet one of the premiere players in the league…respect.

by Andy on Feb 16, 2010 7:22 PM EST reply actions

Ah, though of having John Wall, Brook, and Durant in 2011. If ANYONE comes to the Nets, it will be because of Brook’s skills and potential.
