Bosh: "Nets Don't Really Know What They're Doing"

Wondering how this coaching carousel is being perceived by top free agents? Here's what Chris Bosh had to say, buried in the AP summary of All-Star Weekend doings: "You never know, but Coach K, he's been at Duke for a very long time, so...I don't see it," Bosh said. "I think that's the team that's most speculated about right now. They don't really know what they're doing." No word, yet, from other All-Stars.

He’s right. It’s obvious. Nobody know what the Nets are doing. A ship with no wind in the sails, drifting about.
SOS!

Bosh, I don’t care what you have to say, and your not a legitimate number 1 option either. Your Carvel ice cream soft

i wouldnt want bosh even if he wasnt such a wanna be. Bosh is one of the most overrated palyers in the league and unless he changes his attitude will always be a loser(championship wise). When the nets do make something something happen, hell eat his words as his team plummets. Idt anybody would pay him a max contract

I have to agree the Nets don’t know what they are doing at all. Good for Bosh for telling the truth.

Bosh is telling the truth, but I think he’s jealous his team wont make the turnaround were going to make.
by jj on Feb 14, 2010 10:51 AM EST reply actions
I don’t care what Softie Bosh said. He won’t be a part of the Nets future anyway. He won’t win a championship by himself anyway in toronto.
by inimeg on Feb 14, 2010 10:51 AM EST reply actions
If CDR said that people would have said that he is a venom to the locker room. Bosh said it, then it’s “how can you disagree with him?”
Anyway, Bosh is saying the truth, although the truth really hurts. I know they did not know what they were doing, but i did not want to hear anyone say anything about it.

Who is Bosh? He doesnt even know what HE is doing next year. Should I stay or should I go? What a Loser! The bottom line is and always was clear: Get rid of the large contracts and develop young players. We have done that. As far as what is going to happen next year, we and everyone in the NBA can speculate all we want but only Thorn and Nets management really knows. To think that Nets Management is going to come out straight forward and say this is what we are going to do is so naive. Yeah as fans we dont like all the moves that Management has done, but they cant come out and say what their true plans are. Soon Thorn will either give his master plan to New Owner or the New Owner will tell Thorn what he wants.
Bosh just looks like a big idiot for saying this stuff. I hope he doesnt have eat his words after July. Wall, Lebron or Wade(not that I really think they are coming here) as Nets would make him look stupid. What an Idiot!
by SIC on Feb 14, 2010 11:32 AM EST reply actions
Yeah, I don’t really care what Bosh has to say. Whether he be right or wrong (and this team doesn’t know what it’s doing BUT we have a new owner on the way so it’s really a moot point). We have to hear about the crappy state of our team from enough people involved with the franchise and pundits that I don’t need Chris Bosh who’s not even close to involved telling me what’s wrong with the team. (And yes, I know reporters were asking him, but still, just shut your face about what you don’t know)
And I know he can represent the free agent market, but the fact is, 95% of free agents will go anywhere if there a big enough dump truck full of money presented to them. I’m not saying that should be Bosh or will but, but hypothetically, if it was, if he received that dump truck, the next quote would be “I look forward to helping turn this team around. All the pieces are in place and we’re going to do big things next year.”
So take what he says with a grain of salt.
by KD on Feb 14, 2010 11:55 AM EST reply actions
I don’t Bosh even meant that as the type of criticism it sounds like.
In the context of the statemnent and the article, I think it was geared to the fact that the Nets ownership is still in transition, the team location and arena is in transition, many players are in transition, etc. etc.
All of this is very obvious to everyone, and we are seeing the pathetic results up close and personal. So I don’t think Bosh was going out of his way to criticize the Nets on how badly they have “played”. I think he was just commenting on the facts of the organization in major transtion, whether they are struggling or not.

If Yi were allowed to develop he would be better than Bosh.
by Tom F on Feb 14, 2010 12:34 PM EST reply actions
I think this was taken out of context entirely, but if it wasn’t, then I agree with him 100%. This organization is an absolute joke and i doubt any 1st or 2nd tier Free agent are itching to come into a situation where everything is s mess. This season will haunt the Nets longer than people think.
But yes, I think that the current front office right now in place has no idea what they are doing, and are more concerned with everything but the proper coaching and development of the players on the court. If we’re talking about that, then yes, the Nets don’t know what they are doing.
by Mr. Dollar Bills on Feb 14, 2010 12:46 PM EST reply actions
ok its quite obvious this team is in (dis-array) on track for the worst losing record in the nba, ownership is about to change and they are moving to a new state. so who cares what anybody has to say… everything is true any thing bad some wants to say has about this team is absolutely true!
so what !! bosh has only been to the playoffs twice and has never been out of the first round, and guess who was one of the teams that eliminated him the NETS, the other team was the Magic. so for a franchise that doesnt know what they are doing we sure as hell must know a lil more than his franchise … in case he didnt get the memo we are rebuilding!!!!! what i wanna know is how hes running his mouth about a team thats in a rebuilding year??? hey BOSH GET YOUR TEAM OUT OF THE FIRST ROUND AND THEN YOU MIGHT BE A MAX PLAYER!!!! EMPHASIS ON MIGHT!!!!
by mike on Feb 14, 2010 1:15 PM EST reply actions
Does he mean “they don’t know what they’re doing” as in they are not sure as to which direction they may take yet, or does he mean “they don’t know what they’re doing” as in the organization is totally stupid and no matter what happens they’re just going to suck for years to come.
by Jim on Feb 14, 2010 1:35 PM EST reply actions
Probably both, Jim.
mike, I don’t think Bosh is a max player but Kobe Bryant could come out and say that the Nets are a complete joke and I would applaud him because it’s the truth. I can’t get mad personally when someone says the truth about this.
by Mr. Dollar Bills on Feb 14, 2010 1:39 PM EST reply actions
In a sense, he’s correct only for the fact that ownership of the team has held up everything. Until the ownership issue is resolved, we don’t know exactly what we will do. But in regards to Bosh being a max player, no he’s not. He’s a second, maybe third banana guy. Don’t want him on our team anyway. And if we know Rod, I’m sure he does not think bosh is what we need or a max player.

The real question is who are “the Nets”? Are they “the Nets” of Ratner, Thorn and Vandeweghe or are they “the Nets” of Prokhorov and a new GM/coach combination?
by Net Income on Feb 14, 2010 3:12 PM EST reply actions
true i wouldnt be mad if kobe said it but the fact that a 2nd tier guy who seems to think he is a max player said it … just has me a tad bit frustrated… all im saying is how can i guy who misjudges himself, try to comment on a FRANCHISE…

How could Bosh leave Toronto? Is there anyone else in the league that looks more like a dinosaur?

Oh he’s talking slick? On February 19th when they come to Izod take him out.
by universal on Feb 14, 2010 3:58 PM EST reply actions
Who knows what they are doing? Do the Wizards? How about Golden State. What if the Mavs fall apart and become a year older? stupid article. After the draft we will know a little more, then a coach, and a little more, a free agent or two, a new owner, and arena, then we will know what we are doing.

I agree with both Bosh and Net Income…the Nets really do not know what they are doing. They need to get a plan and stick with it.
by KFranchise on Feb 14, 2010 5:50 PM EST reply actions
You know, if Kobe came out and said it, I’d be upset then too. Because it’s not his place. Unless directly asked, and you know what, I bet Kobe would be PC and not say anything stupid.
The fact is, the new owner has yet to take over. So we don’t know if the team will be in disarray when Big Red comes to town. It could be possible that this team will have a clear cut track after a few months with him on board. If we were running into the next seasons with whoever we have now, then yes, that’s bad news. But we have no clue of who’s staying and who’s going. Perhaps the new direction that is set will be appealing to free agents.
by KD on Feb 14, 2010 6:06 PM EST reply actions
Bosh won’t be part of the future? Who will be? The Nets are 4-46, they don’t have the right to refuse 24 and 11 on 53% shooting. That’s on a playoff team above .500. And how is he overrated?
by Bballboy456 on Feb 14, 2010 7:10 PM EST reply actions
The Nets know what they are doing. They have enticing contracts, young players, and market. Their current team will look nothing like what they plan to have next year. They have unlimited finances. They have the prospect of moving to New York City in a state-of-the-art arena. They WILL, repeat WILL, have a top drawer coach this summer. They have potentially the number one pick, and if it holds, will acquire an all-star calibur prospect. They have the ability to sign two key players, as well as possibly trading Devin Harris. They have first round picks all over the place.
Seems to be a better situation the a Chris Bosh, D-Wade, and a bunch of role players.

BBall do you honestly think he is a max player?
He is soft and behind the following in no particular order
Al Harford
Kevin Garnett
Duncan
Dirk
Gasol
Stoudamire
Boozer
I personally don’t think a max player is a complementary player. To me he has to be a player that can single handed get you to the next round. He isn’t that guy. I think if you add him to this team you win 9 more cames so far. That is still a losing team. But if you have a Wade, Durant, Bron, or Anthony this team would be at least .500.

its sucks so much that we have no player in the all star weekend to go out and talk to all of those soon to b free agents and go bring them 2 nj in the 10-11 season
by tu vieja on Feb 14, 2010 10:51 PM EST reply actions
An example of why Bosh is overrated: less that 2 minutes to go in a competitive all-star game, he tries to show off with the reverse dunk and misses. That’s a boneheaded move if every I’ve seen one.

People can say what they want about Bosh, but he’s not the the only player that feels this way.
