NBA Rookie Challenge - Friday, February 12, 9:00

Before the season, before the debacle, the Nets hoped the NBA Rookie Challenge could be a showcase for the team's young talent: Brook Lopez, Courtney Lee and Chris Douglas-Roberts for the sophomores and Terrence Williams for the rookies. But when the two nine-man teams take to the court in Dallas Friday, only Lopez will be on hand. And Lopez is quickly gaining currency as one of the league's top centers.

Clee. is starting to look like he deserves it and if CDR was still getting coached by frank he would still be averaging 18 and wouldve made it. Terrence williams has also stepped it up as of late. The young talent takes its time to belnd together and gain team chemistry especialy when your injury plagued. it would be interesting where tthe nets would be at if they were the slightest bit competitive.

CDR got big minutes and big opportunities because Hayes, Dooling and Yi missed more than 80 games between them at the beginning of the year. The Nets have to make decisions, much more important decisions financially, on Dooling and Yi this summer. It’s smart business to see what they can do. Also, Hayes, Dooling and Lee all play much better defense than CDR.

Over/under bad alley oops thrown this game… I set it at 12.

Courtney Lee’s play is nothing special. Just because his offensive game has reached a DECENT level (it was absolutely putrid some weeks ago) doesn’t mean it’s something great. CDR was averaging 17ppg when we had an ACTUAL coach in place, not this bufoon Kiki, whose agenda killed the kid’s production. CD-R’s best level of play was way better than Lee.

in the beginning of the season i expected cdr as most improved and an up comin star in this league but now he’s fallen off the cliff and doubt he’s climbing up.

Is it true that if nate robinson doesn’t dunk in the contest then T-will will take his spot??…

That’s what we all need now. T-Will winning the slam dunk contest. His head would get so big, he would demand a trade to the Lakers.
The worse thing that happened to Nate was winning that dumb contest.

I really think Lee has been getting a bad rap. I never saw him as a stud SG who could take over a game. I have always seen him as a compliment to a stud. Unfortunately we don’t have a stud yet, but we will. When we do, Lee will be great, hit some knock down 3’s, cut to the basket when he needs to… etc. I like him on our team.

I doubt CDR or Lee, even if the season was going better, would have made the team over the names on that list.

bottom line is that no one cares at all about the all star weekend other than there is a big meeting between proky and thorn. All I care about is the 3-4 days following the meeting before the dead line

@mike
I don’t kno man I think it would give terrence even more confidence in his game..he’ll probably wanna attack the rim more if he wins the dunk contest, which is definitly a positive for the nets and t-will..

T-Will should practice his ball handling, passing and shooting skills. All I heard in pre-season was about his dunking prowess in practice.
I would rather him win the “horse” contest or 3pt contest then that silly dunk contest.

@Net Income What do you have on CDR? You’re always the first one to throw him under the bus once someone says good things about him.

Anyone think Brook Lopez will do the self alley oop off the backboard dunk a la Sean Williams? …Yea, me neither.

I don’t think he’ll give LaMarcus Aldridge the finger on camera after the game either.

@raymond B.
Agreed. NI has his favorites and CDR is certaintly not one of the. =( ignoring that chris has improved greatly, became a better scorer and overall player, and that he has improved his court awarness and ability to make the right pass, he goes on to say CDR doesnt play D. If you dont like CDR, fine, but at least acknowledge some of his improvement. Yes, he runs his mouth, but he’s immature and expierence will stop him from speaking his mind bcuz so many people have a problem with that
