What's Up, Mikhail Dmitrievich?

Mikhail Prokhorov is busy. He met with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev in Tomsk Thursday. This weekend, he meets with Rod Thorn and Brett Yormark in Dallas. At some point he heads to Vancouver to watch the Olympics. He's head of the Russian Biathlon Federation. What's he likely to discuss with the Nets braintrust? Al Iannazzone takes a shot, suggesting top priority is Thorn's role with the team.

finally. some sort of plan to try to strighten out this mess. At this point, id love to see an offseason like this:

1. fire kiki/keep thorn
2. Hire a lidgit coach. Possiblities include, JVG, marc jackson, avery johnson
3. get john wall with the number one pick. Even if there are some better players, wall could be what lebron/wade need to see for a reason to come to NJ
4. Sign FAs. Get Lebron/Wade or Joe Johnson/D. Lee or some combination like that.
5. trade valuable assets like harris, boone,yi, hassell

that would be a great offseaon, ideally:

Wall
? Wade or johnson
Lebron or gay
Lee or RAnderson
Lopez

Bench: CDR, Dooling, Redick, Hayes, Lee, Bass, Hump,

something to kill for.

Maybe he also discusses and approves trades coming up next week at the deadline.

You would think if anything “big” is happening next week, Proky would have to be in the loop.

The Nets rebuilding process will take several years.

The idea that we will have a contending team next year is far fetched, as far as I’m concerned.

I wish I’m proved wrong but I see another “rough” year coming up. Not as rough as this year but playoffs may be out of reach.

Hopefully we will be a fun team to watch.

I thought we would have a fun team this year.

^ if we were healthy we wouldve been. from the start we were injured and became bad which made it hard for the nets to really play. sure,we suck but still…

Yeah, I guess on our way to the “party” we got stuck in the swamp.

“Fun” spelled backwards is “nuf”.

I’ll bet Proky gets to meet all the owners in Dallas and Mark Cuban will be looking for him.

Until or unless we find out the full story, there is no way of knowing who is the good/bad buy regarding Thorn/Kiki.
Mikhail probably prefers a “bad guy” to be his President, as long as he is loyal.

However, the 2 day benching of CDR, by Kiki, may be very telling of the relationship between Kiki and Rod. The back spasm and “flow of the game” excuses didn’t apply as Nets clearly needed a spark from the bench at many times.
Is it true that Thorn may have gone directly to CDR and said something like “don’t worry Chris” (meaning Kiki won’t be around long)? Regardless, Kiki shouldn’t hurt Nets fans due to any such feud with Thorn, even if Kiki was “set up to fail” from the beginning.

Fire Kiki!

Hollah!

@ I

RAnderson doesn’t play for the nets anymore.

btw humphries is better anyway

What’s the master plan? Overvalue your players and dismiss anyone who is half an inch too short? Rod is WASHED UP like Devin Harris’s Defense

@njd
no duh he doesnt play for the nets. Did u notice jj reick and bass dont play for the nets either? Did u realize yi and harris werent even mentioned?

I was hoping we could put some sort fo trades together to make that sort of roster happen

by i on Feb 11, 2010 4:28 PM EST reply actions

Yormark will be on 1050 ESPN tonight at 9:45… maybe he has something other than PR spin to offer?

@i and njd:

I can see Orlando willing to trade Brandon Bass for Yi, before trading RAnderson. I think they feel RA is better than Yi (besides being cheaper) and they would be right.

I would take that deal for Bass, as the salaries match. Orlando wants to get rid of Bass after this year – He would have 12 million left on his remaining 3 years.

If Bass could be play some SF next year (just doesn’t have outside shot), he would be a good piece for Nets (he could always be traded at a later time, unlike Yi).

@jerry25
