Game On

You know the postman's oath? "Neither rain, nor sleet, nor gloom of night will keep us from our appointed rounds". Well, the Nets seem to be adopting that and adding, "nor Turnpike warnings of three and four foot snow drifts". The Nets and Bucks are at the arena, as are the refs. Fans who can't make it can exchange their tickets for another game, next Friday's contest vs. the Raptors. Nickelodeon Night is postponed.

This is going to be interesting to watch. If their is more than 50 people at this game I will be shocked.

by psychonetsfan34 on Feb 10, 2010 3:11 PM EST reply actions

Insane….. o.0 Really can’t travel tonight.

by BogutFan on Feb 10, 2010 3:15 PM EST reply actions

Make Kiki plow the parking lot!

Then fire him!

Hollah!

by Shawn Carter on Feb 10, 2010 3:16 PM EST reply actions

That’s humiliating Mr.Carter

by Andy on Feb 10, 2010 3:17 PM EST reply actions

Correct me if i’m wrong but I believe this is the THIRD time the Nets and Bucks will be playing at the Meadowlands in the last 6 or 7 years in the midst of a major winter storm. One of them came when RJ returned last year and the other was during the Kidd era.

by Isaac on Feb 10, 2010 3:18 PM EST reply actions

@ Carter

Lmao!

by psychonetsfan34 on Feb 10, 2010 3:19 PM EST reply actions

Damn Isaac good memory. You are right the other one was like 4-5 years ago. I remember their was less than 100 people at that game. After the game Kidd also made a remark about how it wasn’t much different from playing on a regular night.

by psychonetsfan34 on Feb 10, 2010 3:36 PM EST reply actions

If the Bucks can’t make it to the arena, do the Nets win by forfeit???

by PhilNYC on Feb 10, 2010 3:45 PM EST reply actions

For Issac

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap/_/id/231205017/milwaukee-bucks-vs-new-jersey-nets

“Playing before a crowd of about 3,000 due to a snowstorm, Kidd finished with 16 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds to help the two-time defending Eastern Conference champions”

by psychonetsfan34 on Feb 10, 2010 3:46 PM EST reply actions

That article brought a tear to my eye

by Jerseyboy on Feb 10, 2010 3:54 PM EST reply actions

@PhilNYC
Both teams are at the arena as are the refs. That’s all you need.

by Net Income on Feb 10, 2010 3:56 PM EST reply actions

@ Net Income

Is that really all you need? I wonder what would happen if like the score keepers and record keepers couldn’t make it. I bet the stats for the game would never be recorded lol. That would be one long game to. Would probably have to go back to a real clock and a flip scoreboard.

by psychonetsfan34 on Feb 10, 2010 3:58 PM EST reply actions

They should delay this game. It will be absolutely empty and embarrasing to watch. That said, it would be a new low for the francise to strive for.

by Larry Brown on Feb 10, 2010 4:02 PM EST reply actions

“two-time defending Eastern Conference champions"

Those were the days!

by John at the Jersey Shore on Feb 10, 2010 4:04 PM EST reply actions

Guess they will just put the lost revenue on Proky’s tab.

FWIW: The snow stopped in S. Central PA around 3PM and now its just a cold 30 mph wind and more 3 ft.+ drifts.

The 4 PM report shows the worst part of the blizzard is now passing Allentown, PA and headed to the IZOD!

The weathermen say too hard to measure the snowfall as it varies everywhere, but the estimates are 12-18" of new snow since last night.

Good Luck. Wonder if Thorn will show his face for the cameras?

Snowthrower time.

Let’s break the record for lowest attendance to an NBA game ever!! After that lowest attendance for ANY basketball game ever!!

by Antoine on Feb 10, 2010 4:09 PM EST reply actions

good find on that article pychonetsfan34. I remember as I was planning to attend that night until the storm hit. Looking forward to hopefully watching this one from home – guessing there will be about 3000 actually in the house although announced attendance will probably be about 7500,

by Isaac on Feb 10, 2010 4:09 PM EST reply actions

@ netsdaily
is terrence williams in slam dunk contest?????

by joet on Feb 10, 2010 4:11 PM EST reply actions

@joet
no word yet

by Net Income on Feb 10, 2010 4:19 PM EST reply actions

there literally might be 0 people there

by VC3 on Feb 10, 2010 4:41 PM EST reply actions

it’s probably all about money. they are probably playing it because it will cost more to potentially fly home for a rescheduled game including transportation, hotels etc than the lost revenue generated from fans who don’t show up.

by Tom on Feb 10, 2010 4:41 PM EST reply actions

Winnable game

by Randy Oreens on Feb 10, 2010 4:43 PM EST reply actions

that link psychonetsfan posted was depressing.

Good luck to the brave soul that travels out there tonight, it’s seriously not worth it right now it’s bad out there folks

by Mr. Dollar Bills on Feb 10, 2010 4:46 PM EST reply actions

There’s hardly any snow here in Manhattan as of 4:45pm.

by JT on Feb 10, 2010 4:47 PM EST reply actions

not about the money… its cause the Nets want the season to end as quickly as possible… reschedule means another game left to play… eeeiiii!!!!

by NetRick on Feb 10, 2010 4:51 PM EST reply actions

in the off-season, i would like to see them trading lopez and harris for dwight and get james.

by watda on Feb 10, 2010 4:52 PM EST reply actions

@Antoine

Do the DNP’s count for the attendance numbers?

by PhilNYC on Feb 10, 2010 4:56 PM EST reply actions

they didn’t expect anyone would show for this game and that was a week ago – before the storm was even on the horizon. we travel 1+ hrs each way for every game – there’s no way we’d go watch the Nets lose. i will be shocked if there are 50 non-Nets employees there. Maybe they’ll do a “Just Wright” trick, film the fans all in one section and then duplicate it so it looks like there actually are closer to 500 people there.

BTW did anyone get a recorded call from Brook today?

by fastbreak on Feb 10, 2010 5:04 PM EST reply actions

Hey I wanna go, if there’s anywhere I can buy dirt cheap(almost free) tickets that can be emailed to me…i’m going. Any ideas?

by Jron on Feb 10, 2010 5:25 PM EST reply actions

@JT

Uhh….

by Chris on Feb 10, 2010 5:29 PM EST reply actions

I think this’ll be fun to watch on TV to see if the fans are allowed down courtside and if they try to hide low attendance with camera angles or don’t bother.
And by the way, this is a “winnable game”…like a bunch of others lately.

by NetsJetsFan on Feb 10, 2010 5:34 PM EST reply actions

NEAR-BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ARE RARE FOR OUR AREA… SO IT IS LIKELY THAT PEOPLE WILL NOT REALIZE THE PERIL THAT EXISTS IN VENTURING OUT IN SUCH STORMS. LIFE-THREATENING CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE

by Ispartan on Feb 10, 2010 5:41 PM EST reply actions

Kiki’s last? A win for his goodbye?

by geo on Feb 10, 2010 6:42 PM EST reply actions

LETS GO NETS!

by JustinNJ on Feb 10, 2010 8:11 PM EST reply actions

Is Kiki done shoveling the walk outside the arena?

If so, give him a soggy hot dog and FIRE HIM!

Hollah!

by Shawn Carter on Feb 10, 2010 8:31 PM EST reply actions

well my guess of 3000 turned out to be VERY generous! Never seen anything like this. Honestly, the way ratner has treated the fans of this team, this should be the TURNOUT every night unless the Brooklyn move falls through.

Wanted to hurl when Jessica taft credited Yormark with brining the fans downstairs tonight to watch this putrid wreck. How sweet and caring of him – what a disgrace.

by Isaac on Feb 10, 2010 8:53 PM EST reply actions

where two crappy teams who don’t give a crap playing for an empty arena happens

by J Tallent on Feb 10, 2010 8:53 PM EST reply actions

this team is a disgrace to the notion of basketball…..
firekiwi.com ….. anybody start that yet ??

by blazin pp face on Feb 10, 2010 9:27 PM EST reply actions

OK, Count me in for firing Kiki!
CDR is obviously not being benched for back spasms.

Kiki waited until garbage time to put in CDR. At the very least Nets could have used a spark off the bench. That excuse may have worked yesterday.

Meanwhile CDR is keeping sane by telling himself what Rod told him (not to worry).

Seems like Kiki is deliberately going against Thorn’s wishes.

CDR now knows that he isn’t to blame for Harris leaving.
CDR must know that Kiki is out of here soon.

Fire Kiki

Hollah

by jerry25 on Feb 10, 2010 9:38 PM EST reply actions

that game was just awful.
save us Proky, you’re our only hope.
