Lopez on Team USA Roster for Next Three Summers

Brook Lopez is among 27 players named to the USA Basketball roster for the next three years, making him a candidate to participate in this year's World Championship in Turkey and the 2012 Olympics in London. The group includes nine returnees from the 2008 Olympics and a handful of young big men, but Lopez is the only seven-footer on the list. Not all of the 27 will participate in training camp for the Worlds this July. Devin Harris, who participated in last summer's mini-camp, is not on the list.

Good.
That should keep Brook happy and help deal with all the losing.
I doubt if many from the Redeem team will be available this summer.

Even if he doesn’t end up making the final team, it’ll do him good. And hey, if he gets to meet with LeBron, Wade, etc. before free agency kicks off…

Brook would have been an allstar if the nets were fighting for a playoffs spot.

That list is pretty much like what the All Star team should be – or at least what next year’s All Star should be without regard to team record.
(ie. no Iverson and includes Brook and DLee.)

No Harris. He tried out last summer, wanted to make it.

I think Andy is right. We’re lucky to have a center like Brook. Big men like him are a dying breed in the NBA. The more I’m watching him play, the more Duncan I see in the guy.

Brook is extremely skilled but needs to get stronger in the off-season!

Harris is not even wanted on team usa. Please get rid of this guy!

^Exactly. It’s all good if he makes the team but I’d rather he gain muscle this summer and play for USA next year.

I like how “Levin Love” is listed below Brook on the Team USA roster page..

I like how he’ll learn from better guys about how to do things like LeBron and the others did from seeing Kobe come in so early and work out like a maniac but I hate the extra toll on his body international competition could give. But I guess being on team USA is different from other countries since everyone will have lighter loads to carry as compared to international teams which would play their nba guys very heavy minutes. So yeah, I think this is good. Learning and playing against some of the best players can be just as or even more helpful as working out during the summer

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/insider/columns/story?columnist=thorpe_david&page=RooksSophs-100210. . .I know it’s ESPN Insider and all, but Lopez is ranked #1 out of 20 of the best rookies/sophomores combined, ahead of Rose.

Harris isn’t included because Harris is, at best, a mediocre basketball player.

@ Claud exactly. I really like Brook, but if he needs to put muscle on to be more effective. I would like him more because if he was stronger he would e a better player .

Oh, we care about the Olympics again? I guess because we won vs some underaged foreigners for a change. Good luck Brook.

@A.S.
Derrick Rose is better.
Wonder why Kendrick Perkins got picked over Bynum?

Congratulations to Brook, I knew he would make it. Just goes to show you how we have a legit franchise guy in the middle. I definitely agree with you guys saying that Brook needs to gain muscle this off season, specifically lower body strength.
I’m not shocked at Harris not making it. He can’t shoot, is a lousy decision maker, and doesn’t play a lick of defense. No one wants a player like that on an Olympic roster. He’d be an embarrassment on the world stage, just imagine him allowing Ricky Rubio blow by him with little effort to stay in front of him or the Greeks bombing threes in his face while he stands there slack jawed and flat footed. No thank you.

Wow! This is an awesome accomplishment for Brook. I agree this should only make him better. And the other team members will also get to see his work ethics as well.
