Game 47 - Nets vs. Pistons - Tuesday, February 2, 7:30

The Nets will play their fourth straight home game against a sub-.500 team Tuesday when the once mighty Pistons arrive. Detroit had a lot of cap space and three draft picks last summer, but after spending and picking, they only have 15 wins, none in the last five games. They start Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and Ben Wallace, but the magic is gone. Devin Harris has moved from doubtful to questionable.

Harris still wont paly and that gives me confidence that we will compete on BOTH ends.
The pistons really havent been the same ever since losing Billups. not the same swag or approach they had to games.
For the nets it’s simple, play wiht energy and compete. just those two are good enough to beat the pistons. I hope to see similar production as the last three games.

you mean defense. you can’t call fewer than 80 points in the last two games “production”.
by Net Income on Feb 1, 2010 5:30 PM EST reply actions
@NI yeah pretty much, i ment production as in staying competitive throughout and keeping the game close.

Harris needs to stay in a suit, if the Nets are going to lose i’d rather it be by 2 points instead of 27

a loss but it will be close. if harris doesnt see his flaws while he is sitting out he is truly a lost cause.

I see SWat is playing for China now. I say trade Yi to China for Sean Williams. Maybe he could help China with thier American sponsors , NOT!!

The nets are playing well now, I feel they will a few more games. I still Yi should be come off the bench and Hump should start. Lopez won’t need to compete for his shots and I feel Yi will do better as the 6th man.
I am not bashing Yi but I think as the 6th man he will get his shots and be more focus on the offense.

Harris will play well when 1. he gets healthy and 2. when Nets get a new coach named Avery Johnson.
Don’t know if Mitch Lawrence was joking when he wrote that Avery wouldn’t be under consideration because of Harris.
I’m sure Harris, although not joyous if Avery became his coach again, would try twice as hard to show “how good” he has become. The only question would be whether Devin would request a trade if Avery was to be named coach.

The nets must pursue a defensive minded coach and players. Defense and offense are both areas of struggle, but playing defense allows the offense to naturally flow. turnovers get easy steals and easy baskets which get a team into its rythm.
We should sin a player who is like the old darell armstrong, full of energy and a leader. regardelss of the money, i think an aquisiton like that would be just like a coach.
Af for the coach i think: Marc Jackson or George Karl ( if available)
by i on Feb 1, 2010 8:06 PM EST reply actions
Karl is a terrible at teaching defense and Jackson has no experience – look at what happened with Kiki’s lack of experience.
Anyone care to comment about the recent incidents with Wall and Coach Calipari or about DeMarcus Cousins’ explanation for his behavior?
Wall is not so perfect afterall. I’ll take my chances with Evan Turner, who is a sure All Star and a franchise type player too.
Until I see better, Wes Johson and Cousins are in my top 4.

Marc jackon doe not have coaching expierence, ye, but that doe not mean he can not be a coul coach. He preaches defense and will inpire his team to play well, i cant tell just by litening to the way he announces game.

Kiki did ESPN analysis in 2007. How did that help him coach the Nets? I dont buy it. You dont give an NBA head coaching job to a guy who has never coached at any level, as an assistant, as a head coach, nothing.

@Jerry
As long as Devin Harris is a Net, and I will assume he’ll be one up until the draft – and we’ll probably already have hired a coach by then – Avery Johnson won’t be coaching the Nets.

NI,
Why dont the nets look into this? i understand they dont want to break up the twin towers but this trade is pretty nice.
Ryan Anderson, Redick, Bass for Yi, Boone, and Lee.
I personally like the trade. it gives us shooting and toughness. i doubt the magic like what they are getting though

I hear KiKi is going to bring in Alex English and Dan Issel in to cover his butt like the old days :)

Agree that unless Nets get #1 pick and want to use Harris to buy another very high pick, he will remain a Net.
That doesn’t mean Thorn wouldn’t interview Avery and let
Johnson and Harris discuss their future.
Harris needs to “take his medicine” and Avery would make Devin a better player.
Avery may have changed after 2 years in the booth. He seems more laid back, even from an announcing perspective. Give him a chance.

I would take Mark Jackson over Avery! Or even Van Gundy.

Nets winning by 40 at the half
but then nets score only 20 pts bettwen the 3 and 4 Q
and Nets loose poorly to the short hande pistons
Sigh!!!
Nets suck :D :D :D

@i
Interesting to dangle Lee at Orlando and see who they would return. I’ll bet Lee would suddenly play better and Vince could be used more at SF.
I’ve always wanted Bass, but now that Nets got Humphries, there may be some redundancy. There will be more PFs coming with draft/FA.
I would trade Yi for RA straight up, if possible, since RA is Ok with a backup roll on Nets, whereas I don’t see Yi surviving with 15 minutes per game and then China would complain. I doubt Orlando would agree to take Yi for Anderson, but then NI might disagree.
Doubt if Orlando would want Boone.
RA vs. Yi is younger, better hands, more hustle an winning spirit, similar outside shooters and plays well with Lopez.
Both are backup PFs.
Not bad if Nets had DLee, Hump and RA at the PF next year.
Because trading Yi would save 4 million in salary cap, he could be bait for a number of pre-deadline deals. I wouldn’t mind getting back someone who is more valuable at present, in Marcus Camby (expiring 9 million contract).

Anyone watch the OK ST game tonight? James Anderson 6’6" SG/SF Jr. looked pretty good. He’s ranked #46 in Draft Express.
Eric Bledso 6’1" KY Freshman PG is ranked at #32.
Greg Monroe has dropped to #26.
Maybe someone decent can still be drafted with the Dallas/#31 picks if they aren’t traded.

Next year; new coach, top draft pick, free agents ,good trades this year.Return Harris, Dooling,Hayes, Lopez and anyone not named CDR, CLee, TWill and Yi.

Funny I don’t hear any talk about including Jarvis Hayes (expiring $2 million contract) in trade. After Sunday’s good performance, there could be some interest.
Hayes seems to have slowed down and was better last year when Nets played more 1/2 court offense thanks to VC.
If TWill continues to play well, Jarvis is only preventing him from developing quicker.

ahhhh. . .The reemergence of Devin Harris. And alot of you are calling for his head, lol. Some of you guys make me laugh. i’ll admit it’s one game, but he is playing like he did last year, and as long as he is healthy, he will continue to do so. Have faith guys (although if we get Wall, he’s going to the 2 lol). all is not over for Devin just yet. . .

Yi is horrible!!! Bench player at best. If we lose its on his shoulders.
