Good News Anyone?

Over the last week, the Nets have allowed only 83.7 points a game, 30 points better than the week before. Problem is that they only won one of three games, although they almost won two others! But you know the line about horseshoes. So do the power ranking pundits who keep the Nets in the basement. As for their (relative) success, NBA.com's John Schuhmann says consider the competition. Must we?

Next win (possibly last win of the season) – at home against Sacramento March 24th?? Seriously I don’t see anything before that…. Possibly against Detroit tomorrow… But seriously it is REALLY hard to find 2-3 potential wins on the schedule, much less 6!! And these players don’t seem humiliated enough to really push themselves now so they don’t get to 5-72 and have to win out to avoid the record… I think the record will fall barring some major upset wins… anyone agree??

at this point who cares… can’t wait for the draft and offseason

to me it’s simple: as long as they will defend like they did the last 3 games, they will a couple of games in the near future. It’s all about competing for the full 48 minutes.

Yeah, we are going to get the worst record of all time. At least we are the best at sucking.

However, look at a team like Boston, they might be on the other side of the spectrum in a year or two. This season is tough for us fans, but it can only get better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v3x-5zWg08&feature=PlayList&p=743131EACA82A509&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=1

t-will should at least be one of the notables on the upcoming rookie watch for a couple of stat-stuffing games (not on the scoring column)…he should really take it to the rack and learn from the best foul-baiting players (wade, etc.) in the nba…a spot-up 3 form the corner wouldn’t hurt as well…if bruce bowen can develop one anyone can!

@ NetIncome
On a side note, CDR says that he will officially come off the bench from now on. Clarifications, please.

I’m pretty happy with the last few games even though we lost 2. Granted we still lost to pretty bad teams, but at least it was close. 6 points difference total in the last 3 games. At least we’re not getting blown out by terrible teams?

I fear the upcoming Celtics game, with all their recent losses, it very well could be a 100 point loss

by muwu on Feb 1, 2010 1:22 PM EST reply actions

KJV, CDR said it himself. So obviously hes going to the bench.
Are the Nets gonna move Yi to the SF, and Humphries at the 4 with Lee at the 2. I dont like that.
I think Jarvis Hayes is in the starting lineup.

Can the Nets also get the worst attendance in NBA history too?

by Jersey Pride on Feb 1, 2010 2:03 PM EST reply actions

we’re trying to break the worst team records in the nba so we can set team turnaround records next year…

I can’t wait for the season to be over. Courtney should be coming off the bench not cdr fire kiki please!!!!!!!

by 1milord on Feb 1, 2010 2:26 PM EST reply actions

Courtney Lee wouldn’t be able to do anything with the second unit. He’s not a scorer. Isn’t that the whole scorer on the bench philosophy, you keep a scorer with the second unit so he can be the main scorer there. Scorer = CDR. He doesn’t have to compete with Lopez and Yi for shots then. And if Jarvis is starting, then he’s a good three point shooter to space the floor with and help the bigs have space inside. The formula is the same for every team essentially

@jiroh: close, but the Grizzlies have that: http://espn.go.com/nba/attendance Which is odd, since the Grizzlies have a very fun team to watch, and they’re finally actually winning some games.

“muwu Says:

Are you aware that Courtney Lee is the starting SHOOTING GUARD? His job is to score!

CDR was made to play Small Forward (not his natural position) SO THAT Lee could start as Shooting Guard. Now I guess CDR may be used as Shooting Guard, from the bench of course. Or maybe Small Forward, or a sub for Trenton Hassell, or a sub for someone else, or a bench rider. Who knows? CDR fans just hope he’s going to be traded soon.

“Over the last week, the Nets have allowed only 83.7 points a game, 30 points better than the week before.”

Hmmm, over the last week, one “key” player has been missing from the lineup. And over the last week the Nets defense has been much, much better. Coincidence? I don’t think so. That “key” player was also missing during the last stretch of games the Nets played good defense.

The Nets are simply better with Keyon Dooling in the lineup than they are with Devin Harris.

@ all the cdr fans This is the ONLY team in the nba where he would be coming off the bench. All the rest, his butt would be growing roots on the bench. Nets fans should hope he gets traded soon.

I have definitely seen improved defense by the Nets. Not talking blocks or steals necessarily, but just being where they are supposed to be. Players have been rotating and switching properly. They have been playing tough around the rim, nice hard fouls making opponents think twice about going inside.

They need to build on this and I can see maybe 10 more wins this year.

frank c,

Trust me if Courtney Lee can have a spot as a role player on a championship team, then goddamn anyone on this Nets team can. I’ve just noticed that Lee must be the worst finisher of all time. He steals the ball, runs the floor, and blows open lay-ups on the other end. I’ve seen it countless times this season. No wonder this guy blew that open game-winning lay-up against the Lakers in the Finals last year.

by Antoine on Feb 1, 2010 4:39 PM EST reply actions

Hey, it all starts with DEFENSE! Wins will come with defense and hustle. The last three games have actually been enjoyable to watch and we could have easily won all of them if it was not for silly mistakes.
