Game 23 - Nets @ Mavericks - Thursday, December 9, 8:30

The Mavericks have won 10 straight games.  That sounds like a big deal, but it's not so much for Avery Johnson, who in 2006-07 had three winning streaks of 10 or more games...an NBA record.  Now, on his first trip back to Dallas, Johnson is on the other side of a streak, six straight losses.  That sounds like a big deal, but it's not so much for the Nets, who last season lost 18 in a row...an NBA record.

It's not just another game, Johnson admits with a bit of nostalgia. Johnson spent three-plus seasons coaching Dallas, going 194-70 in the regular season but only 23-24 in the playoffs. And there will be others who will be looking at the game as a big date, as well.  Nineteen of the 30 players on the court Thursday have been coached by Johnson at one point or another, including two --Jason Kidd and Devin Harris-- who were traded for each other.
