Nets Get Blown Out in Oklahoma City
The Nets got maybe their best win of the season eight days ago in Memphis, but they've been pretty terrible since then. And on Wednesday in Oklahoma City, they suffered their third straight double-digit defeat.
The Nets led by five late in the first quarter, but got outscored 28-9 over the next eight-plus minutes. The Thunder led by 11 at the half, by 18 after the third quarter, and by as many as 25 in the fourth.
The Nets shot 48 percent from the field, but turned the ball over 23 times, had just 14 assists, and allowed the Thunder to shoot 55 percent. Oklahoma City was led by Kevin Durant, who finished with 27 points on 11-for-19 shooting. Brook Lopez and Devin Harris had 19 points apiece for the Nets.

Johnson was the driving force behind signing Travis Outlaw(notes) to a five-year, $35 million contract, sources said.
Come on we just started rebuild
Outlaw, Graham, Farmar, Petro, Ross, Murphy are all building blocks of the future

95% sure Melo doesnt come here look at the facts
He declines an extenstion with Denver Nuggets a playoff team to come to the nets where he does sign an extension….just doesnt seem likely the longer we wait the simlar this turns into the Lebron thing.

How will they get him?
"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."

Yeah but anything could happen
Knicks don’t have the pieces to get it done, also the Knicks don’t seem at the moment inclined to blow up their squad.

I don't think we really understand how bad shape were in

How bad our team is
How people view us its sad
"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
it is ok
he’s probably just finished 4 bottles of alcohol and drove to get some more
althrough I am not sure if he will make it to Lopez’s next rebound … which might be in February
What I took out of this is the Nets suck
but they need to start playing Uzoh more minutes and develop him he seems to be our best passer had two nasty alley oops to Favors, stop playing Ross give the kid PT were loosing anyway he seems to be one of the few players who cares and gets down in the defensive stance.
"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
Problem is
He’s a PG. Behind Harris and Farmar… So unless Harris gets traded
Section 18, Row 7 at The Rock!
Yeah but he's also a long 6'4 with long arms
Same size as Ross he played some two guard at the end with Farmar
"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
He plays into becoming a winner now
Team won’t turn around over night with Melo, but they can win some games….
Next year and the year after continue to build on it.
-Say man when I was growing up we wanted a Jacuzzi, we had to fart in the tub.

So he leaves a good Denver team for a rebuilding team that tells him to wait another two years… Right…

Denver doesn't offer what Brooklyn will
This is more than just winning basketball games.
It is turning Melo into a superstar, more-so than he already is in the worlds biggest media market.
This is Melo coming home. (With a quick pitstop in Newark)
I just hope it happens…
-Say man when I was growing up we wanted a Jacuzzi, we had to fart in the tub.
So he leaves a WINNING Denver team and a chance to play for the WINNING Knicks (who play in NY) to play for the LOSING team that will promise him the world- in two years. He turns into a superstar by coming here? The Knicks and the Heat will be even better by 2012. Call me crazy but I can’t see him signing off on that.
But I hope he does anyway:)

this is what Melo had said
He has said he want to play in NY
He was ask whether he would sign an extention for the Knicks and the Nets, he has said he would for the Knicks, he has not answer in relation to the Nets
He had said he wants to play with Amare and Paul … so unless NJ has a trade for Amare ….
He knows the Knicks can sign him next year and Paul the following year … I guess he is a salary cap expert … else …. the Knicks are tampering
now they are..before they weren't
remember..the nets were talking big about making the playoffs this year
"I'm proud of our guys"
Lol naw not sure

Honestly, there’s no possible way u can be against getting him after games like this. Lopez, Harris, Favors Id trade em all. Seriously what good are good players on a GOD AWFUL TEAM. Face the facts, if they’re not gettin it done they’re not gettin it done.

This whole Melo thing is becoming less likely with each loss. Why extend here with a team that cant win without him rather than in Denver where they win without him. Please we are 9-23. 14 games below .500. Let’s move on Melo would be crazy to extend with us Brooklyn or not. Start rebuilding around Favors.
Btw I am not against a trade, I just can’t see him going from riches to rags.

Ben Uzoh made Jason Kidd like passses.
Derrick Favors has more of a hop in his step when Uzoh is on the court. Why? BECAUSE Uzoh some how gets him easy passes that convert to Favors gaining more CONFIDENCE on the offensive end.
LETS GO NETS!
I, as a fan, get more excited when Ben Uzoh comes on the floor. I believe they can make defensive stops, run the fast break, drive to the bucket, play with intensity and believe they can WIN! I would start Ben Uzoh right now over Stephen Graham.

I can’t believe how bad the defense looked in this game…I mean it was atrocius..graham=defense specialist ?? What a joke..the rotation was even worse ..I mean cmon avery.. its not hard to see that your guys are gettin beat on/off the dribble..the passes made me want to choke myself…what you should’ve done is start favors and vujacic..and play the kid uzoh behind harris cause farmar was getting owned..brook was ok could’ve been agressive imean pretty much all game he was on 1 side of the basket. And murphy has no passion to play with this team..we need morrow and djames back..b/c I actually like their play and hustle..I guarantee the team would play a lot different with them back..and I really am positive that we should move away from this trade and use the draft picks..love my nets but you guys were killin me tonight. go nets

He feels like the world just ended.’ And I’m like, ‘Man, I feel like the world just started for me over here. I can see why he’s mad
Good thing
I saved myself from depression and turned off the T.V
To think I was excited about this season. Huh?
We are starting to revert back to the ways of last season. It all starts with leadership from our core players. Devin and Brook accept losing. Hustle is contagious, ie Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin. Ben Uzoh has that type of passion.
LETS GO NETS!
Avery Johnson
If Avery Johnson is such a good coach, he should figure out a way to get Troy Murphy more involved. I am tired of him wasting time with Stephen Graham and Quinton Ross.
I should have made two different posts. I don’t intend for Troy to play the 2 or 3, but he is definitely better than Kris Humphries. Troy should start alongside Brook and get the majority of minutes because he is more talented and skilled than the other Nets power forwards at this point.
Starting Graham is a joke. If he had to start anybody, it should be Vujacic until Morrow comes back.
Oh
and I heard Jeff Green’s going to be a FA this year we should def try getting him.

Normally qualifying offers can be signed till june 30
I see everyone getting all hyped over Ben Uzoh
fortunately I didn’t watch very much of garbage time, but even if I had, it’s GARBAGE TIME. don’t get too excited. he’s not the second coming of Kidd just like Vujacic isn’t the second coming of Drazen. I’m sure he made some good plays and hopefully he’ll see more playing time, but it’s not like point guard is our biggest weak spot.
Do we really want Carmelo?
Not that it all of a sudden hit me watching tonight’s game, but it did push me more in favor of not trading for Carmelo at all. If we were to trade for him and Al Harrington, we’d have to put up with less defense than we already have. And unless we’re going to rob the other teams involved, we’re not going to obtain enough scoring power just to win games on the offensive end. Plus, why do we want to give up Devin Harris again?
Personally, I’d be all for helping the Knicks obtain Carmelo and seeing their team dissolves with too much ego to go around. In the process we could get a better balanced group instead of one good offensive player.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=27utkqt
The Nuggets get the guy they want (D. Favors). The Knicks get Melo. The Bobcats get the youth they want to start over. We wouldn’t have to give up the picks either.
As for the Nets, we’d basically combine rosters with the Bobcats.
Harris, Jackson, Wallace, Diaw, Lopez – a solid balance of offense and defense while holding on to all of our draft picks
Help the Knicks get Melo???
Be careful, there might be a Russian at your door.
Section 18, Row 7 at The Rock!
Yeah right
We wouldn’t help the Knicks get Melo. They would be a top 5 team in the league. And that ego thing is stupid, we also thought ego would dissolve the Heat.
by NYCfanman on Dec 29, 2010 11:32 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
melo+amare don't equal the heat
If Melo was to go to the Knicks, they really wouldn’t improve that much. Scoring has not been difficult for them…and Carmelo surely wouldn’t bring defense in town. The reason why the Heat are playing well is their defense. LeBron and DWade are very good defenders, especially LeBron (when he doesn’t quit on his team). Plus, D’Antoni’s offense relies upon a pick and roll game with Felton/Amare with shooters on the 3 pt line. I can’t imagine them maintaining the same production with Melo replacing Galanari on the 3 pt line.
by bus_driver20 on Dec 29, 2010 11:37 PM EST up reply actions
I hate to agree but this is true
Miami’s team defense has been surprising. lebron will still fold come playoff time, but the Knicks are far, far, FAR away from developing that kind of complete team play and I love it.
by sheepareevil on Dec 29, 2010 11:41 PM EST up reply actions
The Knicks lack a guy who can takeover games. They almost came back against the Heat last night to win. They were down 3 with 2 min left. Melo would improve that and could go head to head with players like Lebron better than Gallinari can. They are 18-13 without Melo and without D. Them with Melo ( an upgrade from Flopinari defensively and offensively) would be like 23-8
by NYCfanman on Dec 29, 2010 11:47 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
yeah spoelstra teaches excellent half court defense unlike 'Antoni(no d)
and wade, lebron, haslem(when healthy) are great defenders and the rest of those guys are long for their positions. the knicks have chandler and turiaf and play small too much and cannot stop anyone if they needed to. add melo to that team and they will be like some of those old seattle teams after payton got traded when they were top 5 ppg and bottom 5 in ppg allowed.

The nets will be a middling 6th seed in the east(around 40-45 wins top in a good season) with melo plus melo, harrington, miller, lopez, morrow is a horrendous defensive lineup. I’d rather use that surplus of draft picks to get kemba walker, brandon knight, harrison barnes, jordan hamilton, austin freeman, kyrie irving, jared sullinger, markief/markus morris and let the knicks trade players for draft picks to trade those picks and more players for melo and have a gutted roster with absolutely no defense.

uh, thats already happened
there are two players around from last year’s training camp, three from the of last season.
As Much As I want Melo to be Here
I just don’t see a scenario where he will sign with the Nets. Chauncey Billups and Nene are a better supporting cast than Devin and Brook. Same goes for Amare and Felton.
Buy can the knicks get him?
Some people say the nuggets would rather let melo walk with no extension rather than take back pieces from new york that they don’t want or need
by muwu on Dec 29, 2010 11:59 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Please they would rather have Chandler, Gallinari, or fields than have nothing. That’s just Denver bluffing to scare Melo.
by NYCfanman on Dec 30, 2010 12:10 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
Chandler and gallo are very near the end of their rookie contracts, not something you love as a team entering year 1 of rebuilding
by muwu on Dec 30, 2010 12:21 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
Better than what CLE got which is nada
Which would you rather have Gallinari/Chandled for 2 years or nothing?
by NYCfanman on Dec 30, 2010 12:26 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
Nada is not nothing, it is cap space
Which has a wide variety of uses.
Goes back to melo as well, how much money would he be willing to risk? He’d be willing to give up that extension for the knicks?
The nets are the compromise option. The nuggets get what they want, melo still goes to new york, just not with the knicks
by muwu on Dec 30, 2010 12:35 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
They can get both
“Nada is not nothing,it’s cap space”.
Curry, Gallinari, Fields for Melo. They get two young players for two years AND cap space rather than nothing and cap space. What would they use the cap space on? No free agent would go there for a while. Plus he isn’t going to play in NY he is going to play in Newark for 1.5 years before moving to Brooklyn. In that .5 season he would have to resurrect a 9-23 team after leaving his winning one.
You may be right about the extension but it depends on who is more desperate. Supposedly Denver wants to trade him and will do whatever to get something back. Plus the Knicks are a winning team with double the wins as us.
I hate that the only reason Melo would come here is not because he wants to, but that he wants a salary. Nets have hit rockbottom.
by NYCfanman on Dec 30, 2010 12:44 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
I know we are not going to win every game, but, as a fan, I would like to feel like we have a legit shot of winning every night. I have not felt that way since Jason Kidd was our leader.
LETS GO NETS!
Haven't had a leader since Vince Carter really
"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."
the dark blues and the grey alternates were the best….the reds are fugly and removing new jersey off the jersey has shed a lot of bad karma on this team

At his current rate
It would take him 56 minutes to get 10 rebounds. So if we have a double overtime game…

doubt it…favors already has two and ed davis had 15 and 12 in dallas wednesday by halftime. There is something wrong with him.

I hate being negative.
BUT, if Graham showed atleast some flashes of being decent I could understand the experiment with him in the starting lineup. I have seen almost no offense from him, he constantly fouls, and is overrated defensively. He does hustle, so I will give him credit for that.
LETS GO NETS!
but he shouldnt be played he isnt apart of our 5 year championship run he shouldnt be starting
by RandyOreens on Dec 29, 2010 11:56 PM EST up reply actions
he did show flashes a few games back
had some great hustle plays (ran full court to break up an easy fast break layup) and hit quite a few jumpers, but unfortunately avery used that game as an excuse to keep him in the starting lineup even though most of the time he plays like a 10th man.

Awesome news!!!
Since we couldn’t get LeBron over the summer our new plan is to hopefully contract and join him down in Miami by being absorbed into heat. Miami Neat! Let’s get er done!
Devin Harris is an Embarrassment. (Edition #193)
When your team has 9 assists in the 4th and your rookie 5th string PG has 5 assists in 8 min.
You should just quit the game like you do almost every Defensive possession.
And please don’t tell me: O, But Devin scored 19 – it would have been even worse w/o him.
Devin’s scoring #‘s mean almost nothing to me…and to this team. (every game I can find at least his amount of his scored points given up or caused by him).
He’s a disgrace.

I say trade Harris for whatever… Then draft Brandon Knight with our pick.
by NYCfanman on Dec 30, 2010 12:36 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
exactly right
he may be a decent scorer, but he does absolutely none of the things a point guard is supposed to do

(Not that I would ever hurt another human being for my Nets) but...
can Coaches be placed on injured reserve?
They seem to be the only two who have the ability to score
So unless they were being traded for even better scorers than I would care deeply. I can’t even bear to imagine how horrendous the offense would be without them.
We have to start getting Favors more involved on the offensive end. He has to start feeling like he can make something happen. You can see he wants the ball everytime they set up while on offense. I would love to see what he can do with Uzoh, since he is the only player that seems to know when to pass. Even at 19, Favors should be around 12 and 10 a game. Give him more minutes.
LETS GO NETS!
Hakeem was at the Rockets game tonight. Avery played in that era, he has to call him up and ask for a huge “Favor”. Get him in the gym with Brook and Favors for a week or two to show them the ins and outs of playing around the rim.
LETS GO NETS!
Good god, greatest end to a game I may have ever seen
Sacramento vs Memphis… OJ Mayo hits impossible shot to win it, leaving only 1.5 on the clock but Cousins inbiunds the ball to Evans and he flips it Devin Harris style from before half court at the buzzer – swish.
Possibly 2 of the best plays of the year at once!
Section 18, Row 7 at The Rock!
we could of signed amare a max deal and got beasley instead of waiting for lebum
harris
morrow
beasley
stoudemire
lopez
or
harris/farmar
wright/morrow
beasley/t-will
favors/humphries
lopez/murphy
That’s a team that could run up and down the floor not following this slow-motion offensive gameplan and would probably be 18-14 right now and not 9-23

thank rod thorn and avery for that, waiting on lebron ruined everything
instead of going after amare, boozer, or beasley,or dorrell wright, we wait on lebron
and go after petro, outlaw, farmar, and morrow to compensate
beasley dropped 33 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists
averaging about 22 and 7 for twolves
I don't mind passing on Boozer

Bondy
“We’re just going to do what’s best for our franchise. And, right now, even from the draft situation, we don’t necessarily know if there’s a Tim Duncan out there. But there’s some good players out there,” Johnson said. “We just have to be really prudent in what we’re doing and strategic, even though all of us don’t like our record, you’re not going to change this record overnight, especially coming off a situation where there was a 12-win season and we changed the roster pretty much except for Devin and Lopez.”
As Wednesday night confirmed, change is necessary.

no one will ever be duncan material
he’s smart. spent 4 years at wake mastering his skills. comes into a winning program. plays under robinson’s wing for 6 years. I can never see a person who is as raw-ly talented as duncan being able to perfect his game like this.

sonics/thunder know how to rebuild
Look at that product on the court. The result of accepting time to change(letting payton, lewis, allen go), getting return in players let go(allen trade to boston), and drafting smart(durant, green, westbrook, ibaka, harden, even collison) Unlike the nets who held on the Kidd/VC/RJ trio too long(after 2006 they should have blown it up), the only positive return they have gotten from the three trades is harris and damion james, and before 2008 the only good draft pick this decade was kenyon martin.

They also lucked out
They got incredibly lucky with Westbrook, he’s playing arguably just as good as Rose is
We need to make some serious changes to this roster!
Get rid of that bum Harris and get some actual talent and leadership in here. If we dont get Melo go after Scola or Varajeo to put next to Lopez. He needs a scorer/bruiser next to him if he is going to continue to be soft.
Get Mayo or Iggy in here!
The league is in flux right now i believe most teams are nervous about the upcoming lockout and the money everyone is going to lose. Now is the time to get some steals!
can't make changes yet bro
we’re waiting for Denver and Melo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wake me up when these guys have some kind of direction
