Hey everybody, I made a comment on the game thread last night that a few people seemed to disagree with and I wanted to bring it up to the larger community. What I noticed last night was, since Anthony Morrow exited, and Sasha Vujacic entered, the Nets seem to be playing more consistent, focused basketball.
What those people disagreed with was my notion that Anthony Morrow was the culprit, instead saying that Vujacic has been a spark. And yes, he has been, I can't possibly deny that. Perhaps I should have rephrased my comment, because what I really meant is that when Sasha Vujacic came here, it immediately became apparent just how much of a drag Anthony Morrow is on this offense/defense.
As we've said many times this season, Anthony Morrow does one thing and one thing only very well: shoot the ball. On a good night, Anthony (not THAT Anthony!) can score 30+ points as he did in Golden State. But is it worth the statue-esque defense? The non-existent ball handling? In an offense that relies on competence to slip around screens, Morrow is practically useless. Furthermore, combine Morrow and Travis Outlaw and you get what we saw earlier in the season, a death knell.
But we're stuck with Outlaw, and he really isn't that bad if Avery can get into his head and they can use him sparingly off the bench. Minimize his ineffectiveness and it's clear he can be useful because of his length. But Morrow? I honestly don't see a place for him on this team, and maybe it's not to late to convince someone else that he's worth an asset.
