The Nets are obviously having a terrible season so far but you could argue ,which I am, that this season could actually extremely benefit and help the Nets in the future. The Nets are almost dead last in the conference and 100% honestly, the odds that the Nets make the playoffs are very slim even though the East is as bad as it is. Since the Nets claim they are still in rebuilding mode, I think this year should mainly be about developing players like Derrick Favors and most importantly getting a good pick in the draft, which could be very strong this year. And if the Nets were to win 32-35 games this season or something like that and just miss out on the playoffs they would all be disappointed and end up with a bad draft pick, considering that we would miss the playoffs, which would not help the nets rebiulding process at all and especially not their future. The last thing this team needs is some bad draft pick and someone like Hasheem Thabeet waiting to be drafted late in the lottery. Now lets say the Nets win 18-20 games and finish last in the league and end up with a top 3 draft pick and get some stud like Perry Jones, Harrison Barnes, Kyrie Irving, Jared Sullinger, Terrence Jones, Brandon Knight etc. In this situation, the Nets' future looks so much brighter becuase of the the higher draft pick and a more developed Derrick Favors. And really, when it comes to feeling good about the Nets, whats the difference between missing the playoffs and barely missing the playoffs and getting your hopes let down. So for the good of the future of the franchise, I feel like its better if we lose more games and get a higher draft pick and develop Derrick Favors than win maybe 10 more games and not get a very good draft pick or a more developed Derrick Favors. Sometimes you first have to be bad before you can be good. I really feel like this would lead to a better future for the Nets. I would expect/hope the result of sort of "tanking" this season would have some kind of Oklahoma City Thunder result. It worked out for them so why can't it work out for us. This can also help you maybe look positively at the season and maybe know that some tough lose could possibly end up helping in the future. One final thing I would like to say about this is, I don't know if you remember this but late in the 2008 season (like the 80th game or something like that) the nets beat the bobcats in a close game in overtime, which they easily could have lost or maybe even should have lost, and if the nets would have lost that game, they would have had the draft position that the Bulls had and ended up with the 1st overall draft pick and some guy named Derrick Rose. This would have changed the entire franchise for ever. That just proves that losing can sometimes be a good thing. Please comment on what you think/how you feel. Thank you.
