More recently, Bearup had been a strong proponent of trading Carmelo Anthony in a proposed multiteam deal that would have brought back a package centered around New Jersey Nets rookie forward Derrick Favors. League sources said it was Ujiri who didn’t want to rush into any deal and pushed to explore other trade options.
With Bearup now out, the Nuggets will likely continue to be patient as they assess what to do with Anthony.

Bad news for us. Melo is going nowhere. Nuggets will make a run this year and try to convince him, knowing inside they will lose him to the Knicks or Bulls.
bad news for us?
The trade was lopsided to begin with. Anyone who kills this trade is saving the Nets from themselves.

That's kind of the opposite of bad

No it's horrible News
we keep a young hungry power forward.
who in the limited mins he has seen has made an impact.
after a troubling pre season. He has shown that he is able to bounce back and learn from his mistakes.
It’s horrible news because if he and brook ever click we could have the best front court in the NBA.
What ever brook lacks Derrick makes up for and vice versa.
It’s horrible because we have players who actually want to be here instead of the super stars who we are begging.
It’s horrible because we won 2 games and lost 4 already. when last year at this time we 0-6.

my exfiancee unexpectedly walked out on me between Christmas and NewYears
best decision she ever made for me.
Outlaw is the new Yi - just with more money and longer contract without the 7.2 rebounds and occasional shooting streak.
We weren't getting him any way as
Dollar Andres and Me pointing out in the other thread you can look at his comments and see where his heart is at.
when asked about the Knicks
Carmelo Anthony is both humbled and excited that just about everyone in New York is convinced he will be coming home to play for the Knicks one day. "It feels good to know that a city like that wants me," Anthony told the Daily News Monday night. "They know my background. They know I was born there. The fact that it was home for me, a lot of people take that into account when they talk about my future."
“Amar’e looks good,” Anthony said of his good friend, Amar’e Stoudemire. “He and (Raymond) Felton will start working better in the pick-and-roll. The Knicks are going to be okay.”
when asked about the Bulls
I don’t want to say this in the wrong way, but anybody would love to play with a guy like Derrick Rose, a young point guard and star who gets the ball up and down the court and has improved his game every year. They have a young big man in Noah. They got Boozer, who’s hurt right now. They got a good team.
now compared that to what he said a month ago when asked about the Nets
As far as marketing, it comes from winning. If I ain’t winning, then nobody wants me to market their product."
So he was asked: "Then why would you want to play for the team that won 12 games last season?"
Anthony then said: "I never said I want to play for the Nets."
This is just funny to me I think even when Melo is traded to the team of his choice you will still have some Nets fans hoping to get him when his extension with that team ends.

The point is
no star player is going to go from a playoff team to a rebuilding situation.
These players want to join all stars. Already establish players.
Let’s be real if Amare wasn’t no where near the Knicks. Melo wouldn’t even spit in there direction.
What I find funny that the Nets record last year matters to Melo but what about the Knicks.
by killa kadafi191 on Nov 9, 2010 2:20 PM EST reply actions 1 recs
Didn't Amare just sign with the Knicks?
Who exactly was the all star drawing him there?
by Stephen Schmidt on Nov 9, 2010 3:05 PM EST up reply actions
money of course.
he would have sign with Minnesota if they were offering him the same amount.
Then again I don’t put him on the same level as a KG Jason Kidd or even a Melo.
I see amare like Joe Johnson.
He can be the best player on your team but you ain’t going no where with him.

According to earlier reports this morning by Nets assistant G.M's...
Mr. eLonepb and Mr. Jerry25, it’s a done deal! Denver just want’s to keep Anthony for awhile to insure playoffs…
"Until it ends, there is no end"
Everyone reads this their own way
Nothing in this article suggests any deal to the Nets is dead, or that a deal is alive. Or that the Knicks remain favorites, or that the Nuggets are dismantling themselves as a franchise to join the WNBA.
All this says is a guy who recognized trading Melo ahead of time would likely get the most assets, is no longer valuable to the team.
Getting the most assets will remain a priority for Denver, and a trade with Iggy involving the Nets/Knicks/Bulls is possible. As is a new deal.
Nothing new here.
Section 18, Row 7 at The Rock!
what you failed to realize
Denver has no power the Nets could be offering Brook, Devin and Favors and the Knicks could be offer Eddy’s contract, Randolph and Galleo. The point is not about assets.
It’s where Melo signs off to go play.
Only power Denver has is when they will try to trade him.
Melo is Obama. He has the power to veto any deal. Just like in Washington nothing will be getting done.

Yes I've heard your argument countless times
You believe he won’t sign with NJ. I believe he will. This is our primary point of contention, and does not bear repeating again.

I’ve seen you post on numerous sites and on twitter, but I’ve never seen( or heard) why you believe Melo would want to come to the Nets. If you could some it up sum in few points…

Sure
- Brooklyn very soon, where he was born
- Play in the Metropolitan area right now, can move in right away to penthouse in Manhattan
- Far more assets than the Knicks, to continue to build a team
- Most dynamic owner in the NBA, besides maybe Cuban
- Deep deep pockets
- Committed to winning at any cost
- The ability to grow Melo as a global athlete, through Prokhorov’s businesses
- An opportunity to play in a brand new arena
- Brook Lopez
Section 18, Row 7 at The Rock!
why would Anthony want to play with Brook Lopez?

seriously
why would the Nuggets wait till they are insured the playoffs to trade the one player who got them their.
That is just stupid.
The more I think of that.
“Okay lets wait to trade Melo till we get in the playoffs.”
I mean if the playoffs are such a big deal for the Nuggets why do YOU TRADE YOUR BEST PLAYER??
Hahahaha.
That like the Lakers making the playoffs and trading Kobe.
The Cavs last year okay we are got a good chance to make the playoffs lets trade Lebron.
Also this is the West. What was the win and lost difference between the 1st and 8th seed???
Even if they had a good record after trading Melo they could easily fall out the playoffs.
Who ever believe that for a second was smoking the same stuff that had Smokey running in his underwear on Friday.
when ever you trade your best player and you are not receiving a player of equal value. you are REBUILDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by killa kadafi191 on Nov 9, 2010 2:57 PM EST up reply actions
hahahahahahh what that makes no sense
one if you trade Melo you are rebuilding. The playoffs don’t matter. You are more concern with your draft pick than what seed you are in the playoffs.
Also without Melo you are likely to get crush in the playoffs . So that makes no sense at all.
Denver is holding out hoping to sign Melo. when Feb comes and they see he still hasn’t sign they trade him to top teams of his choice.
The Knicks or The Bulls. The End.
Only way this doesn’t happen if he resigns with Denver
Yes…no trade. Hallelujah!
"On tools alone, Favors has star potential...The issue for him is that he’s still figuring out the game...But the team that drafts him may have to be patient."

If Anthony doesn’t want to play for the Nets, they won’t trade for him.

Here's my problem....
The Nets rationale for getting Melo at this point in time, seems to be more of marketing decision than a basketball one. We shouldn’t be about winning the press conference as John hollinger put it a few days ago.
Section 2 @ the Rock
Don’t get me wrong Melo is a star, but I’m skeptical over the Nets reasoning based on the current state of the team. Basketball wise, we’re in the process of rebuilding not retooling. I can understand trading for Melo if we were contending for title (like when we traded for VC), but right now it only makes sense for marketing purposes.

I totally agree with RD
the trading for Melo makes no sense. Right now. The Nets seem more worried about the Knicks getting him than how much better does Melo makes the Nets right now.
Many on here are in agreement that if there was a way to get melo without losing Favors they would be for a trade.
That is likely not the case. Since the Nets are so into this player that they sacrifice any negotiation power they had day one.

I’ve cooled my enthusiasm on this deal as it draws on even longer. There are guys out there on the FA market that will cost this team less money and give this team what it needs. Plus you can keep he youth together. The only thing it may not give them is a marquee name. This team needs a SF that can score, a starting SG and an upgrade at PG (you guys know how I feel about Harris). I’d leave TWill on the bench because he can play 3 positions. He’ll get his minutes and he’ll be the spark off the bench. Avery won’t say it but if Favors continues to progress, I think he’ll start him after the All-Star break. With the money we’re looking at paying Melo, we can sign either AK47 or Wilson Chandler and Jamal Crawford. If Crawford comes, Morrow moves to the bench with TWIll and Farmar. With those three coming off your bench, you have some scoring there. Whether you agree with my free agent options or not, this team needs to do like they did this off season. They need to worry about filling the needs. With them not dealing for Melo, they can keep the young core together and add the right vets. This team has a bunch of players who know NOTHING about winning. Adding the right vet can be a big key to this team’s success next year.
