Pavlova Now Nets, Arena Director
Irina Pavlova, Mikhail Prokhorov's representative in New York, has quietly been elevated to the boards of directors for both Nets Basketball and Brooklyn Arena, LLC, which controls Barclays Center, according to the Nets' new media guide and Nets insiders. In the guide she's listed below Prokhorov and Chairman Christophe Charlier.
As president of Onexim Sports and Entertainment Holdings USA, the Russian-born Pavlova has been delegated by Prokhorov to ensure that "the franchise has everything necessary to build a championship team" and to coordinate "all necessary activity with Forest City Ratner Companies regarding the Barclays Center", according to the media guide. She has no role in the team's day-to-day basketball operations.
Charlier, a French banker and long-time aide to the Russian billionaire, serves as chairman of the board of Nets Basketball. The board has seven members, four from Prokhorov's Onexim Group and three from Bruce Ratner's Nets Sports & Entertainment.

We have to find a way to get Lala without trading Irina
She’s too young and fine. We don’t need stars.
Let’s trade Jessica Taff for Lala and Michele Beadle. Beadle could be a salary dump for ESPN.

Do the Humpty Hump
Watch me do the Humpty Hump.
Yeh, I called you fat,
look at me I’m skinny,
it doesn’t me from gettin’ busy
I think Thorn saw this coming and got out.
Thorn probably prefers being a Big Fish (President) in a medium sized pond rather than a Small Fish (team Manager) in a Murky pond.
Spare me
Thorn was being paid $5.5 million, which almost three times what King gets, seven times what Kevin Pritchard was getting, 27 times what Masai Ujiri is getting.
Thorn was offered $8 million over two at age 69. He declined. If one of the prospective owners had won the bidding for the team, he wouldnt have gotten that. He would have been an advisor.
So what did Thorn see coming…a front office with chops? One that spends money?
Thorn delayed as long as possible before hiring Avery, but he knew Avery was right for the job.
At least Rod set things up with the right person to be Manager – Billy King – who would be happy to work with Avery and do everything that Proky’s people ask.
And Thorn probably didn’t like the fact that Proky was doing him a nice gesture to keep on “the old man” for a couple more years. In Phila. Rod doesn’t have to feel like he is an old man.
Proky, King and Avery are from the same generation.
And besides, Dave D. said that Thorn had been talking about leaving, long before he hired Avery.
It is the Russian side which Thorn didn’t like. The fact that Avery got in good with Proky was just icing on Thorn’s good-bye cake.
