Nets Lock Up Nivea For Locker Room In Six Figure Deal

New Jersey Nets

Smelly socks and jock straps, mens' cologne and hair gel...these are the things of NBA locker rooms. And in the case of the Nets, add Nivea skin care products.  The Nets have signed a deal with Nivea to promote its mens' care products in their new locker room at "The Rock".  The deal is worth between $200,000 and $300,000.

In addition to getting the Nivea name on the front door, reports the New York Times, Nivea will distribute its balms, body lotions and facial scrubs to the Nets players, whose towels will be emblazoned with the blue Nivea logo.  And expect to see the Nivea logo whenever a Nets player is interviewed during the post-game.

I heard about "throwing in the towel"...

But this early? Where were you Nivea guys last year, when we really needed you?

I'm exclusively buying Nivea products now

“NJ Nivea sales are up 47%! The Nets are a great franchise.”

“Hi Mark from Best Buy. Oh yes, the Nets sponsorship is great. Oh yeah, you should definitely consider replacing Electronics Expo as the official electronics sponsor of the NJ Nets.”

Seriously, who the hell is “Electronics Expo?”

I got my TV from them

Much better prices than overrated Best Buy.

You can actually negotiate prices at Electronics Expo.

With all the advertising in the NBA already, why not put them on Jerseys already?

I mean, soccer jerseys are still cool with brand names on them aren’t they? Here in the Philippines, companies own the basketball teams, much like some of the European teams (TAU Ceramica, a ceramics company – former team of Luis Scola and Tiago Splitter I think. Armani Jeans Milano, Gallo’s former team I believe)

Here we have the Powerade Tigers by Coca Cola, the Meralco Bolts by the Manila Electric Company, the San Miguel Beermen by one of the largest breweries here, and more

by muwu on Nov 3, 2010 4:13 PM EDT reply actions

no, soccer shirts should come without sponsorship

but with top European teams negotiating up to tens of millions of euros/dollars to put a company’s name on their shirt it makes financial sense. However, the shirts look much the worse for it. Plus the contracts are usually for only a couple of years. Then the fan needs to go out and buy the new shirt with the new sponsor. Often teams re-design their shirts when they change sponsors forcing fans into buying new shirts. This is one of the things that U.S. sports has right over European sports but i wonder how much longer it will be this case.

Dude

You do understand that it is his JOB to generate revenue for this team, bring in sponsors, find ways to sell tickets, and due everything to help the bottom line?

I think this is a great sponsorship.

Plus Nivea

is a great product line…I’m much impressed.

Now, all he needs to do is get T-Will hooked up with a lip balm line…the sales would go through the ceiling…especially with the cold Winter ahead.

Nivea is decent...

As most black people know we need our lotion or our skin gets very dry and ashy. Nivea is decent but he should have went for Eucerin or Palmers Cocoa butter. Players all over the Nba would be lining up to get free samples b4 and after the game.

He could have tried Vaseline but I can see the nets being the butt of too many jokes with that as a sponsor. lmaooo!!

We need a Nivea night for fans

I started using this stuff recently and it’s actually pretty good.

Too bad Thorn isn’t around anymore. God knows he could use it.

This is arguably the greatest news in Netsdaily history

Owners need to look into finding guys like Yormak.

While not everyone likes the guy, he is easily the best marketer known in the NBA. How does a guy like him get a deal like that with one of the worst teams in league history last year? The dude has some juice and must be an extremely good communicator. Other marketers and owners in the league will look at this and wonder why they’re not getting this deal. Can you imagine how much someone will pay for the Lakers, Celtics or Heat?! Bravo from a business standpoint to Yormak.
