Harris Not Playing Tuesday

Devin Harris said he wasn't worried about aggravating his sore foot by playing Tuesday against the 76ers, but he did admit that he's having trouble changing direction.  Describing the problem as "pretty much a bruise", Harris said he wants to play but will defer to Tim Walsh, the Nets trainer.

An hour before game time, Stefan Bondy tweeted that Harris would not play.  Conor Orr tweeted that sitting Harris was a "precautionary measure".

"I dove for a ball and kind of landed on the corner of the court," said Harris in explaining how he hurt himself.  Jordan Farmar will get the start at point guard.

We heard the

same theory last year. We know the result. Hope this time it is different.

Mostly, I think waiting to trade for Melo is a good idea EXCEPT for

the fact that waiting diminishes Harris’ trade value due to the likelihood of his reminding people how susceptible to injury he is. This is a case in point.

Hopefully he gets better quickly and stays that way until December. I think Farmar is ready and capable at taking over the rains.

It could help Uzoh get more PT and make the team over Zoubek.

Maybe TWill will get more PT at PG. Could be a good thing.

I recall midway through the first half of the maccabi game devin kinda dove at a ball and landed on/past the courtside seats. I guess thats where it probably happened.

Devin Harris gets injured walking out the locker room

that’s how durable he is

I don't see why he needs to play

It’s preseason. There will be other preseason games if you want to play, but for now, don’t play unless you’re legally required to

by muwu on Oct 5, 2010 3:45 PM EDT reply actions

So.. Is itoo early for a Harris trade scenario?

All we need is one competent PG for him since Farmar and T.Will can hold down the PG spot pretty well.

I would trade Harris for an expiring contract, a PG prospect and a draft pick.

by Jack Handy Jr on Oct 5, 2010 3:49 PM EDT reply actions

I hope you mean that in a trade that brings in Melo

Which I don’t approve of. Otherwise just dumping Harris is really dumb.

Don't pay Billy King a severance package.

by shea23 on Oct 5, 2010 4:03 PM EDT up reply actions

Even if Devin doesn’t bring in Melo, if we trade him for expirers, a PG prospects and a pick, those pieces could be used at a later date.

For example:

Harris + Humphries
for
A.Miller + Bayless + Fernandez

Use Miller as a mentor to Farmar + Bayless then let him walk after this year (decline the team option) or use him later in the season in a Melo trade.

by Jack Handy Jr on Oct 5, 2010 4:19 PM EDT up reply actions

King isn't going to trade Avery's PG, when he is essential at this time for a trade for Melo.

And getting Melo isn’t going to be dead for quite some time.

(Woops- all discussion lead to Melo)

by jerry25 on Oct 5, 2010 4:31 PM EDT up reply actions

I think that...

…the word “Melo” should be treated like other four letter words that can’t be used on here.

Leave him on the bench...

So he doesn’t aggravate it. The dive he took Sunday night was, like most of his dives, pointless. I don’t get why he does it sometimes… There’s no point in him playing tonight. Let him watch Farmar not fly into the stands every other play.

Well at least we have options in Farmar and T-Will.

Shocking.

Hey Net Income, you might as well save this one as a template, I’m sure that we’ll be seeing “Harris a Game Time Decision” several times during the course of the year.

This means he isnt playing. Avery is not going to take the chance. More time for Farmar and Twill. I want to see Twill vs Turner.

I will be surprised if Favors has a good game today. I think he is going to be over excited and prob get in foul trouble. Big games from Brook and Farmar should happen.

by power_njerz on Oct 5, 2010 4:54 PM EDT reply actions

Good point. I think TWill covering Turner would be a PERFECT assignment.

Hope Uzoh gets more than 7 minutes of garbage time.

Avery said he will be going to Russia/China with one less player. I assume that would be Eddie Gill, but it could be the injured Zoubec.

Actually, DJames covering Iggy at the SG position would also be a good defensive matchup.

by jerry25 on Oct 5, 2010 5:04 PM EDT up reply actions

One big Injury to the big three and they still have two other guys what are you talking about

more like three big injuries to Heat then I would agree they are screwed remeber Lebron and Wade took their teams to the playoffs alomost by themselves last year neiether had the greatest teams.

by JJ25 on Oct 5, 2010 5:01 PM EDT up reply actions

with a better supporting cast

Don’t forget that. What they’ve now is mostly vet minimum guys and Miller and Haslem.

by NDTony on Oct 5, 2010 5:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah but you guys are not looking at the big picture

Teams would rather have Bosh/James/Wade than James/Shaq/Williams or Wade/O’neal/Beaseley or Bosh/Turk/Calderon and better supporting cast.

by JJ25 on Oct 5, 2010 5:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Devin should sit on this game

not worth the risk.
Distribute the minutes to Farmar/Twill/Uzoh.

I hate to part with Devin, but if we can get Melo (or eventually CP3), then it’s fine with me.

"It's time", "I'll take my talent to ..." "Beat the Heat!"

Sit Devin Now!

There is no reason to play Devin today. We got Farmar to play. He is a championship veteran at a very young age. Play Devin tonight, and he’s then misses 30 games. This is a no brainer.

Yep, NetsDaily appears to be cleaning things up.

The whole slew of posts starting with the illegal site for tonight’s game and including the misspelled Viginia are gone.

Fortunately, I got the link and it looks like it will be good for other programming.

PTI makes fun of Minny for easily beating Lakers in London.

Kornheiser says they treated it like a regular season game.

I guess if Nets go 7-1 in preseason, then they would be made fun of too.

Bondy tweeted that all the commercials for tonight’s game in Roanoke were Sixers highlights.
Nets will get no respect until they make the playoffs.

Better be Ready

Yes mindful of having difficulty changing direction that’s good. so stay at home and rest. Devin this is NBA , 82 games is a lot plus practices, that’s too much. Look at Iverson he dosn’t even practice and he did not last long. I hope your ankles and knees get enough to recover. You will have at least another 40 games before you cna rest them when season starts. I’ll be happy you averaging 15 pts and 5 assist for this year snd keep healthy rather than become a superstar staus but by december you are gone. Farmar and Terrence williams should contribute the other 15pts & 5 assist average.
