Around SBN: Lakers Should Trade Andrew Bynum So He Doesn't Go To Waste

Bobby Simmons is in Spurs camp, hoping to make the roster and forget last year's experience as a Net.

After a decent season in 2008-09, Simmons thought he could help the Nets. The team had other plans--focusing on youth--and he wound up on the bench.

I was healthy and ready to play and wasn't given an opportunity," he said...among a lot of other things.

Simmons isn't alone in his bitterness. Keyon Dooling, calling last season "an organizational cleansing", said while he and other players escaped, "a lot of good players are still suffering in that."

Somebody should tell Bobby...

That “ready to play” Isn’t the same as “ready to sit on the 3-point line staring into space hoping for a pass”. The guy was useless. AND he made over $10 mil sitting on the bench all season. I’d do it for $50K. At least he didn’t talk about his bitterness til after the season ended.. He’s got more manners than probably half the league…

simmons is a joke

He didn’t play defense. He was last down the court on offense. Chucked up bad shots and didn’t pass the ball. He even hinted that he was better than RJ when he was traded!

Keyon’s got a lot of self-pride I think. He’s a leader on the Players Association, right? It doesn’t look too great in your career when you’re in that kind of a position and you’re on one of the historically bad teams in the NBA, and then waived from them.

I'm sorry WUT?

Forget last years experience as a net please he made 10 mill to do nothing and defo didn’t deserve it. Also he acts like it wasn’t his fault well maybe he shouldn’t have sucked so bad.

Don't pay Billy King a severance package.

Also oppurtunity

Yeah he was given one he just couldn’t play. A three point specialist that couldn’t buy a 3 please.

Yes Simmons was given plenty of chances early in year. Unfortunately Harris wasn't playing much of that time.

Simmons hits most of his 3s from corner and noone was getting the ball to him there. He was awful chucking 3s from elsewhere.

And why don’t they mention that he collected 11 million.

Looking at the SanAntonio roster, Simmons should have a hard time making it, unless they go with 15 players.

http://hoopshype.com/salaries/san_antonio.htm

They just added Kirk Penney (Australia team star), who I would take over Simmons.

And can people believe that Richard Jefferson is going to get 39 million for 4 years from San Antonio, after they didn’t like him last year?

Is Outlaw (age 25) worth more than RJ (age 30), not to mention that he is being pain $2.75 million less per year on average?
Outlaw’s contract isn’t so bad if he starts. I would be bad if he backs up Melo though.

ouch!

that was a low blow dooling! i dont blame him tho that like if you got fired from your job…id be pissed too.

I'm shocked

….that Simmons was even given a try out. He can’t jump, defend, rebound, box out, block shots, dribble, pass, moonwalk, and on top of all of that, his shot isn’t even good enough anymore to justify even making an NBA roster

That man should have taken that 10 mil before taxes that he stole from the Nets last year, and bowed out of the NBA gracefully.

I’m surprised that bums like Simmons or Battie and even Quinn have been given a chance to make it to a TC while guys like Hayes, Boone and even Hassell remain unsigned.

A lot of money....

Simmons got paid alot of money to sit and do nothing and has been overpaid for years, ever since getting that stupid contract after one good season. I don’t feel sorry for him, and I bet he doesn’t make the Spurs roster either, even at the VETs Min. He should retire and coach High School basketball, for nothing$, to give back. I would do that in a heartbeat, and I’d pay for their uniforms too.
