Game 34 - Bucks @ Nets - Tuesday, January 5, 7:30

Brandon Jennings and the Bucks come to the Izod Center Tuesday for the last game of the Nets' seven-game homestand. After that, 11 of the next 16 are on the road. After missing 16 of his team's first 21 games, Michael Redd has played the last 10 for the Bucks and scored 27 points in Saturday's overtime win over Oklahoma City. But after an 8-3 start, Milwaukee has gone 5-15 since Nov. 23.

I we can’t beat Jennings and the Bucks., we might as well be the N.J. Nets…
by Mike on Jan 4, 2010 7:10 PM EST reply actions
I thought we did too, anyway the headline reads dec. 5, and it’s Jan. 5. Netsdaily’s having an off day.

But the Bucks are a winnable game based on our formula for winning: we only beat teams with C and B’s in their names (and better if a CH) CHarlotte Bobcats CHicago Bulls
KniCkerBockers and now Milwaukee BuCks. Only problem is the C is after the B, so that might be a lose – or might explain the last loss. By these calculations they will never beat Cleveland, Spurs, Lakers, Suns, Philly, Pistons, etc. But might beat Boston Celtics. So, I will watch because there is a c and b. What else explains our 3 – 30 showing? If they win, I am betting heavily on us beating the B Celtics.

The fact that they beat OKC scares the crap out of me.

I am betting the nets to win this game, the last few games the Nets have been playing very well. Even the lose to the Cavs and OK they did very well. I expect them to beat the Bucks.

I think we can win this game. I expect Yi to bounce back from his poor shooting day against CLE.

I was thinking of this today. How do you compare Yi and Gallinari? They are both about the same age, same skill set, close to same size and athleticism.
But Gallinari has been and continues to be hailed as the second coming while Yi gets pooped on all day long. I’m not sold on Yi as our starting PF. I do think he becomes a very important piece off the bench though for our future plans. But Yi is not a worse player than Gallinari who the NYC media and fans are claiming is the new cornerstone of the Knicks. Its really laughable. I have seen Gallinari disappear from more games than Yi, have even bigger injury issues and is much less consistent. Its quite laughable really. Shows the NYC bias between the Knicks and the Nets. If Lopez was on the Knicks – he would be hailed as the second coming of Tim Duncan by every writer and commentator in the country. But since he is in NJ – he is largely unknown to the rest of the country.

Bogut schooled Brook Lopez the last time they met. I need to see something out of Brook tomorrow night. Bogut is not a top center, but he is just as big and probably stronger than Brook. Brook has a tendancy to wilt against guys bigger and stronger, which is concerning.
by pawley on Jan 4, 2010 10:25 PM EST reply actions
Yeah, the Nets shoudn’t even show up for the game, cause Jennings and Bogut are going to beat them up… LMAO
by Mike on Jan 4, 2010 10:35 PM EST reply actions
Bogut was a number one pick…lopez shouldve gone In the top 3…just imagine if we get wall…I’ll be like 2 number 1 picks in 3 years.

If you can’t go over them go around them.
If you can’t keep up with them, slow them down.
If you can’t match up with them, change the match up.
If you can’t win, you lose, and try again.

@NetIncome
Are you gonna add any players to that overhead bar anytime soon? i’m getting tired of seeing that old picture of Devin Harris every time i come here. Do something like Hornets247 does & have a mix of players. Have current player like Devin, Pez, Yi & then have guys like Buck Williams, Kenny Anderson, Kevin Edwards, Chris Morris, & Kerry Kittles. We have a lot more history than they do & it seems like they have every good player in their history immortalized on their site. lol

I don’t know if Yi will ever develop into a starter quality forward that can match up against the better bigs in the league, but I am convinced that this kid can be a key piece to this team’s future.
You can’t deny that we are a better team with Yi than without him. If he had knocked down some of those looks he had in the CLE game we might have been talking about how we upset one of the best teams in the league.
I have faith in the kid. He works hard, and is starting to show that he has some guts.

What ever happened to the kid from Uconn, Thabeet? Haven’t heard much of him. I was just wondering if he was injured or anything..
by Kenneth J. on Jan 4, 2010 11:35 PM EST reply actions
@Kenneth J.
Thabeet broke his jaw earlier this year, and is starting to get back in the Memphis rotation. He’s looking better than expected, and has some pretty nice per. 48 min. numbers. One game I saw he blocked 5 shots in under 20 minutes.

The return of $10 for any lower level seat!
I snagged 8th row under the opponents basket. TV TIME!
Can’t miss me. I am the dude with the really long red hair AND the REALLY sad face! I had similar seats for the Pacer game (loss 11). I watched the replay later and there I was in a close up of Brook Lopez lurking in the background! I never knew I could look so unhappy. I hope to bring some markers and poster board to make some signs. Any suggestions?
Keep in mind I will be with my lady friend and her 8 year old daughter so we need to keep it clean!

by Andy on Jan 5, 2010 1:28 PM EST reply actions
Definitely a winnable game tonight. As a team that is going to struggle to win games all season this is a game the nets cant let slip away. Come out and play hard, outwork your opponent and you should get a win. Remember, this team has only won 1 game since Thanksgiving if i’m not mistaken.

The Last time we played Bucks, CDR Owned them! They had No answer 4 Him..Here’s 2 Hoping for a better result than what Happened Last game vs Cavs..CDR Came out on FIRE..somehow he STOPPED getting touches..and Might I also add we were WINNING when the Offense Flowed thru Him….Anyway, GOOD LUCK NETS…LETS GET THIS W!

Halftime – has a team ever played a dumber half of basketball than the Nets just did? That play at the buzzer was the icing on the cake of stupidity.

Najera is out there because Nets management is so brillant.
Time to clean house, starting from Thorn all the way to Harris…
by Mike on Jan 5, 2010 9:03 PM EST reply actions
Najera is the worst player I have ever seen. Complete garbage. Ugh. Get him out of here asap. I’ve had it with his fake hustle his horrible shooting his awful defense. He can’t even box out. Worst player in the nets in the last 10 years
by jj22 on Jan 5, 2010 9:22 PM EST reply actions
Maybe they were playing Najera to show him off to other teams for possible trades in the near future. The problem, he has not shown anything other than he can still run.

God I hate Ratner with a passion. Starting off 8-0 and then just folding after the Bucks show any signs of life. Cannot wait till Kiki is out of here, and a coach realizes we need to get Brook involved early and often. I’m almost at my wits end with this team, but it’s not the players fault as much as it is the most inept showing of a sports franchise’s management/ownership that I have seen in my entire life. . . pathetic
