I was wondering where Stro was… Anyway, I hope he can get his life in order. Beyond basketball, this kid needs some serious help. Seems like an odd fit, but we’ll see.

I think he will have success there, just because of his super freakish athleticism.

I suppose this is another way that Yi can benefit his team mates. Being Yi’s team mates make them well known in China. It happens to Yao’s as well. I hope Sean can his life together over there. Can’t imagine what would happen if he causes trouble off the court. But I am sure he will be better treated by the law there than Yi is being treated here by some of the Nets fans.

From my experience with how Americans mispronounce everything Chinese, I would say that no matter how much Sean studied, no one in China would ever understand a word he was saying (and I’m talking about English speaking Chinese!).
Maybe he could some of the money he hasn’t spent to buy a full time interpreter.
I’m sure he will lead the league in blocks.
Good Luck Sean

Didnt take long to blow that lead and get right back to our ways of forcing shots and playing no defense.
Nick Young will light it up tonight, Spanarkel? He’s averaging 7 1 and 0.
COME ON NETS

If Swift is averaging 18.5 and 11.7 in that league than that explains why Yi is what he is in the NBA….

Sean should do well in China. He can easily be a fan favorite with his athleticism and shot blocking ability. It can also help him become mature by putting him in a different culture. I wish him the best

i hope he doesn’t get caught with drugd in china. they don’t take that stuff lightly lol

@ Tomas
What you say about Yi and Yao’s teammates in China makes sense. So my question for you is when will C Lee debut there?
by Paul B on Jan 30, 2010 2:33 AM EST reply actions
And yes, I hope he does well. Swift too. With #s like that, maybe Swift shall return to the NBA… or at least a good Euro-League
by Paul B on Jan 30, 2010 2:34 AM EST reply actions
Good luck there, Sean !
Show ’em what you got !!!!!
by Gyniko on Jan 30, 2010 4:28 AM EST reply actions
At grocery stores in China, do they use paper or plastic? Sean is going to need to know this. What a waste of natural talent.
by Paul Erstein on Jan 30, 2010 7:35 AM EST reply actions
SWAT has NBA talent but not NBA smarts or work ethic. Maybe he’ll realize how he blew his opportunity and becomes one of those guys that comes back more mature and lives up to his talent level. Good luck Sean!!

The Nets should transfer to the Chinese league and be competitive.
by Tom F on Jan 30, 2010 8:35 AM EST reply actions
I guess this is Sean’s first step to the worldwide domination that his supporters have promised us. Why start in America when there are like a billion people in China? All those jealous NBA coaches will just have to wait their turn to unleash the beast that is SWAT!
by Chris2 on Jan 30, 2010 9:19 AM EST reply actions
What he’s going to do is spend his off season in Amsterdam buy his retirement home there with the money he stole from the Nets, dominate in China, sign a big contract in the NBA, play a few seasons, screw up and retire in Amsterdam. Ahh the circle of life! BTW if Swat is in China you can forget Yi going back there in the off season.
by Mr. Big on Jan 30, 2010 9:44 AM EST reply actions
Wow, sure looks like he’s proving all of his naysayers wrong. Rod and Kiki totally blew it!

Good luck to Sean Williams and family. Even allowing for his personal missteps, I don’t think we saw Sean’s talent developed in Jersey. Hope he gets a better opportunity wherever he continues to play and move forward with his career.
by Jeff on Jan 30, 2010 11:32 AM EST reply actions
People are still hoping that Sean Williams is returning to the NBA? hahaha ah, optimism. He might get a summer league invite sometime, but a lasting career in the NBA? Forget about it
by muwu on Jan 30, 2010 11:39 AM EST reply actions
From shamsports (knows all the happenings in international bball): “Sean Williams’ tryout with Shandong was unsuccessful, so now he’s trying out in Shaanxi” lol, sean williams in the nba again? Sean williams dominating? He’s not even passing tryouts
by muwu on Jan 30, 2010 12:11 PM EST reply actions
I dont know. Sean Williams has raw talent (though not the ideal skillset for his height) but he doesn’t have a professional attitude.
See all that sass and minor league debacle…
by rightclue on Jan 30, 2010 1:22 PM EST reply actions
China probably won’t give him a shot for beating on Yi.
by Mr. Big on Jan 30, 2010 2:10 PM EST reply actions
Since Sean never listened to anyone here in the US, he won’t be affected by the language barrier in China.
by mt57 on Jan 30, 2010 2:33 PM EST reply actions
The latest: he tried out for Stromile Swift’s team, but they didnt sign him. He is working out this weekend for Shaanxi, the worst team in the CBA. They have been without a center since Corsley Edwards broke a finger and returned home. So he has a good shot there.
It’s just pathetic and like Jeff, I blame Lawrence Frank.
by Net Income on Jan 30, 2010 2:49 PM EST reply actions
I also blame the other couch that we had for Sean not being developed correctly…..
by NetFan48 on Jan 30, 2010 4:25 PM EST reply actions
@NetFan48
Blame Sean. It’s his fault. NO NBA team was interested in him. NO GM thought he was worth the risk. What about Europe? You think he would be trying out for the worst team in CHINA if there was any interest from teams in Spain or Italy? It’s called personal responsibility.
by Net Income on Jan 30, 2010 4:37 PM EST reply actions
What happened to Sean in Jersey is his own faults. He has no one to blame but himself. Hope he would get a fresh start in China. Any young man deserves a break or a second chance. The fans and front office there are a lot less nasty than those we have here. It might be good for him.
by bill on Jan 30, 2010 9:11 PM EST reply actions
The old couch destroyed all the self confidence of every new young player that we acquired while he was at the reigns…..Including Sean….
by NetFan48 on Jan 30, 2010 11:19 PM EST reply actions
Many Rockets players get their commercial income from Chinese manufacturers, from shoes to drinking. How about NETS. It is really a good time for YI to leave NETS now ASAP.
by FPLC on Jan 31, 2010 12:16 AM EST reply actions
@FPLC
We don’t know if any of the Nets have commercial deals in China, but Devin Harris, who had never been out of the country before traveling to Europe in 2008, went to China twice this summer. You think that was strictly for pleasure? I doubt it.

When his basketball skill is not clouded by his troubled ways, he will shine. Right now it’s too soon. I wonder if he even cares.

I said it before and I’ll say again: Sean Williams may be homeless within 5 years.
by JohnY on Jan 31, 2010 10:43 AM EST reply actions
Mark my words – you have not heard the last of Sean Williams.
by halwas on Jan 31, 2010 1:17 PM EST reply actions
@JohnY dude…u have no earthly idea what ur talking about, so say it all u want. And as much as you want it to happen, Sean will never b homeless! What kind of a person would want that to happen to some one?
