Boozer Not Interested in New Jersey

Amar'e Stoudemire sees potential in the Nets, but for Carlos Boozer it's no thanks. Boozer, who played on a 17-65 team his first season in Cleveland, admitted it would be a major leap of faith to sign with a three-win team as a free agent this summer. "I think anybody that wants to win, it would be tough to walk into a situation like that," Boozer said. Boozer has a home in New Jersey.

boozers overrated anyways and he is one of the worse FAs available next year. Boozer says no thanks to the nets but i say no thanks to him.
Pursue Gay, pursue johnson, lebron, maybe even bosh or wade. these are the guys that will help us win. i would love to see the nets sign gay and johnson and trade harris as his value increases. Yi should be traded as well for some nice quality verteran pieces.
pick up Wall in the draft and this is a pretty good team in terms of depth, veteran leadership, talent, and with a good coach a strong overall rating

Even if you want to come we NETS FANS don’t want you anyway.

no biggie. bron and amare are saying the team has potentiial, who cares if boozer says hes not interested?

he might change his mind if we get another big time free agent, or John Wall?
by Cliffy on Jan 23, 2010 11:13 PM EST reply actions
Who cares if he’s overrated or what. One by one all the free agents are turning away from the Nets, even the 2nd-tier ones. The Nets won’t land crap unless they get lucky in the draft.

I really hate to watch nets play …….. kill me now pls…

he will change his mind when proky shows him the money…i’d rather him not come to the nets tho if he is gettting the max…he aint worth a max contract so it “will be tough” to offer him one… ;)

This is why we need to move Harris and a couple others in a package before the free agency period opens if we get the #1 pick. We can trade for a very good player… probably and an All-Star (if we include someone like Yi w/ Harris). Then we can show top tier FAs Wall + an All-Star + Lopez.
w/o making a move beforehand, it’s a Catch-22 because you need the first big name (besides a rookie) to reel in the second.

They would be crazy if they offer u a deal …. and NI u can have him on Fantazy team :P

Also, not to sound like I’m 90, but isn’t it kinda disheartening to hear all these guys openly talk about where they will and won’t go…. I mean it used to be there was team loyalty to some degree. It’s gone. Lebtron James should, looking at it objectively, be a Cav for life. He’s from there, never left, and he’s great.
by Paul B on Jan 23, 2010 11:25 PM EST reply actions
Hahaha. The truth unravels. Boozer’s overpaid, injured, and has no loyalty but to himself. Don’t want him on a rebuilding squad anyway—-bad infuence.
If we sign him, we should just add Amare, Maggette, Starbury and Arenas—-we’ll contend for the last spot in the East really soon.

We should have gotten Boozer two years ago. Pathetic.

Sooo, our hopes lie in the draft it seems. No one is gonna sign with us. People still want to fantasize about Lebron when guys like Bosh and Boozer are turning us down already. Amare’s the only guy who would consider us because it’s not like winning is his number one priority. He wants to be the main man, what else would you expect from a guy who’s jersey number is 1.

Lebron and Amare are being PC. Boozer and Bosh said what is probably the general sentiment around the league
NO FREE AGENTS WORTH THEIR SALT ARE COMING HERE.
Ratner’s stunt, and absolute mismanagement from the front office has ensured that we’ll be one of the worst teams in the NBA AGAIN next season

It is totally possible that we win 11 games over the next three seasons.

Nets fans’ Dream 2010 Lineup:
John Wall-PG
Joe Johnson-SG
Small Forward Acquired in Harris Trade-SF
David Lee-PF
Brook Lopez-C
=56 wins
We’ll actually end up with nothing better than:
Devin Harris-PG
CDR-SG
Evan Turner-SF
Amar’e-PF (Signed to largest contract in NBA history)
Lopez-C
=34 wins, no playoff appearance and no money to spend for 2011.
by Jim on Jan 24, 2010 12:43 AM EST reply actions
Re-looking @ that lineup, Maybe the latter starting lineup would win closer to 36-40 games. But nothing special…
And that SF would be an All-star level SF.
by Jim on Jan 24, 2010 12:45 AM EST reply actions
does anyone else see a trend here?
we compete against cleveland, lebron sees the potential,
we get destroyed by toronto, bosh says no way.
we show up (for the most part) against phoenix, amare sees potential.
we get demolished by utah, boozer wants no part of the nets.
I dont think the record is going to factor in as much as people think. i think the bigtime free agents jus want a first hand look at what they’re getting themselves into. wins or no wins, staying competitive is gonna help us in the short and long run….how we stay competitive is a whole different post.
by Gmister on Jan 24, 2010 2:00 AM EST reply actions
lol the nets are 3-40, the record is going to factor in immensely. Lebron isn’t going to come out and say “man, this team might be the worst of all time.” obviously, there’s potential, every team in the NBA has potential, but that means absolutely nothing when you’re 3-40. It also makes Brook Lopez look worse.

You can get other players just as good with Boozer money. No big loss here, the guy plays in Utah. nuff said.

1. Nonsense Boozer would sign here for money thats what he really cares about. 2. His actions this summer showed this and why he didn’t opt out was beacuse no one was interested and wanted to save money now he hopes to get paid by a team thats desperte porbably like the nets. But it could work against him as he might be over looked if their are two many otehr options.
Don’t want Boozer anyway, he’s a bad guy for the locker room has had his issues with Cleveland and Utah. He’d be overpaid and he’s fairly overrated. Solid scorer (only solid) made better by Deron Williams, very good rebounder poor defender on help and man to man. Also very injury prone (might age quicker than other players becuse of this. If we keep Yi for his potetial to explode on offense agaisnt a team second unit that mean our starter at PF needs to be at least a decent defender which Boozer is not. I’ll pass on him.
by Shea23 on Jan 24, 2010 11:24 AM EST reply actions
Recent blog from Amare is winning is what counts. He was only implying coming to Nets if LeBron came along, which isn’t happening if Cavs don’t win championship and Nets don’t get Wall/Turner.
Amare basically said he will stay with Phoenix if they are decent in playoffs.
Otherwise Knicks will go after him or Bosh, which is good, so at least Nets have chance for DLee.

News from Boozer should have Thorn scared about free agency.
Nets have to make some move before trade deadline so as to finish year stronger. Add Yi to the list of players available to move. Hope Yi’s value increases a little to help promote a trade. I am rooting for Yi for this reason.
Hope Thorn can move Yi at a “peak”.
Yi+Boone+Hayes+draft picks along with Battie and Simmons for cap space if needed.
Get back a big man. Maybe even tempt Knicks for DLee since they will get nothing for Lee in July. Knicks could be interested in Marketing Yi – Let them try that route.
Proky isn’t Yormarketing so he probably doesn’t care to lose Yi’s potential marketing.
My only concern is if DLee wouldn’t re-sign with Nets. Proky would have to give DLee a Pep Talk over a $50,000 dinner in order to re-sign (LOL).
If Yi + Hayes + 2011 2nd rd pick were traded for DLee now, I think Nets would challenge Knicks record this year. Anyone think Knicks would be interested?
by jerry25 on Jan 24, 2010 12:09 PM EST reply actions
I can care less about Boozer. I hope he goes somewhere far away. I root for the Bulls too a little bit, I just hope they don’t sign him.
Overrated. I feel like every time I watch Boozer in a playoff game he’s playing with absolutely no confidence.
The Nets don’t need a stud at PF. They need to conclude that Yi is not the solution unless as a bench product, and get a low maintenance rebounder that’s a good team defender. I like Humphries a lot for the record

I have sports hate for boozer. He gave his word to the Cavs and then bounced. I don’t want him for that reason alone. He is a Dukie. Is number two. Plus he is really overrated. You know its so when your own team doesn’t want you.
by Russ on Jan 24, 2010 1:19 PM EST reply actions
They might want a first round pick. I can’t see the Nets doing that especially if DLee is going to be a FA in the summer. Why trade for him if we could sign him in the summer.
@ mr. Omg
If the nets sucks then buy your own team and go ahead and sign boozer on a maximum contract. I heard the pistons are for sale…
Go Nets!
Yi SUCKS!!!
by gemini on Jan 24, 2010 1:20 PM EST reply actions
Although any NBA starter would be an upgrade over our 1 through 4, I am not sure how Boozer will fare on a team with a low post scorer and a PG who is not a good pick and roll player. The best fit for the Nets at the PF in a moose on the boards with a midrange jumper. That they passed on Landry and Bass in the off season is unforgivable. Kiki has made a career killing mistake by going all in on Yi.
by mt57 on Jan 24, 2010 1:24 PM EST reply actions
When someone that you care little ditches you, it means your value is low. Not only we’ll not get a marqee player in FA, we’ll have to overpay anyone decent to come here.
My predictions are turning one reality after another.
I called the dramatic decrease in FG percentage for C. Lee and Harris during the offseason.
by biggie on Jan 24, 2010 1:36 PM EST reply actions
Boozer has a point in that if he were the ONLY addition to the Nets currently constructed, then that would be a horrible way for a FA to go, even with max money.
Rather, if the Nets can get Wall, lure Lebron, trade a few more pieces for more cap space or for competent shooters/defenders, then Boozer would reconsider… before Lebron shuts down the Boozer signing.

they should try to get Camby from the Clippers, rumors are he is on the trading block, maybe send bobby simmons and a pick?
by peter on Jan 24, 2010 1:51 PM EST reply actions
Say want you want about Boozer. He is a high level NBA talent, the likes of which does exist on the Nets.
The only plyer that has siffed the air at that altitude is Harris, and he is not up there now and he won’t make it back with his attitude. Harris wants out of here so badly it’s not even funny and it;s shows in his effort.
The only other player with a chance to sniff the air at that altitude is Lopez, who as of now has shown talent on OFFENSE only, he leaves so much to be desired in defense and attitude. Please donlt confuse blocking a shot with being a good defender – please don’t be so ignorant.
Be objective and you’ll se how 100% of the Nets roster is over-rated by the fans. Too many bad apples mixed in with no talent and no coach. The Nets could use between 10 and 13 new players.
by Rocket Scientist on Jan 24, 2010 2:00 PM EST reply actions
Peter,
Why in the world would LA do that? Camby is an expiring, similar to Simmons…yet there is one difference between the two, that being Camby is helping LA win some game and might push them into the playoffs. Cmon now, get real.

sign him to max for 7 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by Emilio on Jan 24, 2010 6:31 PM EST reply actions
David Lee is barely woth $7-8M per, giving him $12+ per (which is what he’d likely command) would be absolutely insane. Don’t waste the big bucks on another big man who couldn’t guard a folding chair, please.
I much rather have Tyrus Thomas or Udonis Haslem.
by Andres on Jan 25, 2010 6:22 AM EST reply actions
After reading more about amar’e’s injuries in the past. Boozeer is a much better option than him and DLee. Is there a way that the nets could get boozer and kirilenko and still have enough money to sign a free agent like lebron or somebody else to play SG?
