AK-47: Prokhorov May Pursue Me in 2011

Andrei Kirilenko is playing well lately, but not well enough to justify his Vince Carter-like contract. Still when it runs out after next season, he thinks the Nets might be a good fit for him. "It's tough to say," Kirilenko said of a pursuit by his old pal, Mikhail Prokhorov. "I'm pretty sure if I was a Russian owner I would be interested to get a Russian player...It's really up to him." Kirilenko turns 30 in 2011.

You mean Kirilenko (not Prokhorov) turns 30 in 2011.

Great!
Sounds like he would take a pay cut too
AK is a hustle player that knows how to play.
Some even call him dirty!
AK plays 3 and 4 and can shoot the 3!

He is over rated and just think how he will be when he has an “in” with the boss. He is an extra piece not main cog.

@Isaac
Yeah, let’s keep Ratner and Yi at PF!
Wait, what?

No thanks to inconsisent, overpaid, over-rated crybaby. Don’t give fans something to loathe…we need something to look forward to and its not AK47.

This mess is the result of poor recognition of talent.Yi is highly overrated,DLee is not good at all, CDR is playing like the 2nd rounder the rest of the league viewed him as(if the nets didn’t take him he may not have been drafted at all),and TWill has NO basketball sense.These guys are immature players who need bench time,alot of it!

I’m all for signing AK-47 to a reasonable 2-3 year deal in 2011. He would be a good roleplayer to have. Sounds like he wants to be apart of us, which is good to hear.

KMart also becomes a free agent in 2011. I would prefer KMart to AK47. I suspect both will be looking for similar contracts.

If Utah would throw in the Knicks pick (in exchange for Dallas pick), then maybe Nets would consider taking AK47 now (For Simmons et al.) and salvage this season. Then Nets could get one good FA this summer and another next year after re-signing AK to MLE? I wonder how desperate Utah is to save $ ?
Still that would risky in case LeBron were to win championship this year and consider coming to Brooklyn along with say Amare or DLee.

Lopez is a future all star, we have CDR, Lee, and TWill as decent role players. Hopefully our first round draft pick turns into another future all star. I favor trading everyone else and try to convince 2 elite free agents and 1 second tier free agent to team up and own the league.

@Chris2
If Nets trade Harris and don’t get Wall, then who would be PG?
Why would LeBron want to come to such a team if he doesn’t win a championship this year and would be desperate then to win next year?
What if Bosh goes to LA before Feb 18? Who is left as DWade wants MAX deal only and wouldn’t leave Miami or want to play with LeBron anyway.
Instead, if there could be possibility of getting rid of Yi’s 4 million, that would help, especially since he is the principal problem with Nets lack of Defense and his position will be filled with others by next year anyway.
Harris’s value will increase for next year’s trade deadline anyway and CDR, TWill and CLee are too inexpensive to be worth clearing capspace for.

Is it me or does this guy talk entirely too much about speculation. He doesnt know whats going to happen and who wants this dude when he is 30yrs old?

@Isaac: what do you have against Prokhorov? The only people who are having a problem with him are the ones who discriminate because he’s Russian. (I read this somewhere, a couple of months ago)
But I hope most people are smarter than that, so I’ll ask again: Isaac, what’s the problem?

Because the Russian is helping Bruce move the to Brooklyn.

Hi everybody i am lakers & nets fan , new to the board from Colombia , just wanted to greet and support the team even though we suck i watched yesterday’s game and wow we got blown in the 3rd quarter , kirlenko qould def mess our cap space, who would you guys pick if wall was gone ..

Kirilenko is not at this point the kind of player we should be concerned with. We need some major pieces fast. A role player down the road shouldn’t be on our radar.
The fact that Yiki and CDR are debated so much on here is because they have both shown flashes but have also shown major issues of one sort or another.
Heck, lots of folks are ripping on Harris too. He was an All Star last year. 3-infinity does certain bad things.
The only one never mentioned anymore is C Lee cuz he has proven himself to just be terrible… he has like 1 defender.

As for the Nets and their “talented” young core (what a funny idea), they need about 13 new players to approach 41 wins. As underwhelming as AK-47 has been, he’d be a welcome adtion to this sorry squad, not because he is great, but simply because he is an NBA level talnet, of which the Nets have less than 5.
by Rocket Scientist on Jan 23, 2010 10:42 PM EST reply actions
We have nothing to complain about with CDR’s play really though. Yi is getting paid 3 million and we gave up RJ for him CDR is getting paid very little and we got him in a gret pick up in the second round.

If he opt out then sign for less money with the nets then it’s great or make a deal with proky outside….lol!
