TWill Gets No Respect in Latest Rookie Rankings

Dave D'Alessandro proposes Terrence Williams be sent to the Springfield Armour of the D-League. "Maybe a short vacation convinces him to start playing a team game again, which he hasn’t shown much interest in doing lately," he writes. In ranking TWill the 37th best rookie--he was taken 11th, Dave Thorpe of ESPN trashes him: "A more professional demeanor and a stronger work ethic could help turn things around."

Better idea, how about we send the entire team down to the Springfield Armor?

Rookies shouldn’t get this much press, gotta wait and see with T Will – I’m rooting for him.

BUST! For all the accolades Thorn gets, I’m sorry, he is just so so as a GM. If you take away the Kidd deal, or even say “since” the Kidd deal, he hasn’t done anything anyone else couldn’t.

Taking Lopez, and CDR were no brainers, every other pick is a bust. M Will, T Will, Boone, RA?, Mile Ilic, Wright, it goes on.
Deals and signings for guys like Najera, McInnis, Marc Jackson, is he still trying to get Tractor Traylor in shape?

Although somewhat handcuffed by salary, the Harris deal was good, and signings of Hayes and Dooling, smart, but let’s face it, we have been rebuilding for 3 or 4 years, and this is a disaster. We need a houseclaeaning aside from B Lo and that is what we are going to get. Can’t wait until June/July, and not just cause it’s cold in NYC!

“DeJuan Blair, San Antonio Spurs – Don’t you love it when Blair just snaps off like that? A day after I noted Blair’s struggles in last week’s Rookie Watch, he went off for 28 points and 21 rebounds in a one-point win over the OKC Thunder. In the three games to follow that monster night he’s posted 11 and 16, 8 and 8, and 8 and 13. In the last week he’s averaging a very respectable 13.8 points and 14.5 rebounds, which makes him the Rookie of the Week in our eyes.” From HoopsHype

If only we traded for a 2nd…

bust. we have had more than our share

by geo on Jan 20, 2010 7:59 PM EST reply actions

I don’t think there is a guarantee any rookie player would do well with the Nets, seeing as they have a culture of inconsistency. Blair is on a team with some high-quality players, and he benefits from that bigtime.

I mean, learning from Tim Duncan is like learning from a Harvard professor – learning from Josh Boone is like a high-school phys ed teacher.

Nicebull hit the nail on the head

This is possibly the worst environment for a rookie player, PERIOD. When you have ownership not giving a damn what gets put on the floor, a “head coach” with a personal agenda, and a guy like Rod Thorn sacrificing team development in efforts to make Kiki pay for his garbage, you can’t expect an immature kid to learn anything.

T-Will needs a lot of work and he comes off as unprofessional. In a better environment, we might not say the same thing about him.

by Mr Dollar Bills on Jan 20, 2010 8:16 PM EST reply actions

I don’t think it’s his fault.

by ZHAS on Jan 20, 2010 8:17 PM EST reply actions

I said it from day ONE while netsdaily was hyping this guy up as some type of super rookie.

I compared him to Robert Pack, but even that was a mistake. Robert Pack used to leave his mark on the floor. “T-Will” is just another athletic body who will flame out of the league in 2 years.

by Ian on Jan 20, 2010 8:27 PM EST reply actions

Don’t listen to haters T-Will! You’re clearly better than Lebron. It’s just everybody’s blind. Idiots.

by rambler on Jan 20, 2010 8:58 PM EST reply actions

you can’t call rookies busts. I hope your guys are smarter than that.

by Gerard Himself on Jan 20, 2010 8:59 PM EST reply actions

great, I hoped you all would be smarter, and I made a typo (your=you). Still, I’m right though.

by Gerard Himself on Jan 20, 2010 9:00 PM EST reply actions

hah he’s not a bust. T-Will has a lot of potential as a playmaker in my opinion. His mid range game needs a lot of work though.

@supernetsfan

Rod Thorn drafted Michael Jordan. Not Sam Bowie.

Jordan Hill is a bust.

by Net Income on Jan 20, 2010 9:07 PM EST reply actions

Thabeet is probably a bust.

P.S Nets suck!!!!!!

t-will of course cannot be yet called a bust but his selfishness and unprofessinal demeanor are undeniably true.

A few observations from tonights game……

1) We should have traded for Robin last year. We probably could have gotten him for Boone as he had a horrible rookie year. Him and Brook could play together on the floor and we would have a great 4-5 starting combo. This whole season would be drastically different.

2) Why is CDR not getting shots?? When Hayes is on the floor there are plays called for him. CDR had 3 shot attempts thus far. This kid needs 10-15 shots per night. Why is Kiki not running plays for him????

3) TWill should be getting minutes at the PG. I would go so far as to start TWill at the point and Harris at the 2 for the rest of the year. Bring Lee off the bench. TWill is just an uncanny passer, can start the break off the rebound with the best of them and has so much potential. He is just not getting the minutes or being utilized the right way. Plus assuming you get Wall in the draft – you realistically could play TWill and Wall in the backcourt together – use Devin as a trade chip, Lee and CDR off the bench, and use free agency, the draft and trading Devin to get starting SF and PF.

by Ryan243 on Jan 20, 2010 11:18 PM EST reply actions

Oh and one last observation……this team plays so much better with Humphries on the floor at the PF and Brook at the center. Its like night and day. Hump needs to be the starting 4. I think this would directly translate to more wins, be better for the continued development of Brook, and help the development of both CDR and Humphries (kid is only 24 – he could very well be a nice cog in the future).

And Yi would be better served coming off the bench to score against 2nd stringers.

by Ryan243 on Jan 20, 2010 11:21 PM EST reply actions

we need to trade Humphries ASAP before he further damages Yi’s reputation. Yi must remain the only PF on this team and continue his development.

by JohnY on Jan 20, 2010 11:24 PM EST reply actions

We won’t know for sure until the end of next season, if TWILL is still with us….but right now, he looks like a poor draft pick, but not just because he has played poorly, also because we didn’t need to draft at his position. We already had enough wings. We either needed to draft a real power forward, or a 6 9 small forward with an NBA body. Maybe THE HUMPH turns out to be a great pickup and fills that role. There are at least ten players drafted AFTER TWILL, who I would rather have on my team this year. Drafting Caspi, the Israeli, would have been a marketing lightning strike in the NJ/NY market, and see how well he is playing? BTW…getting rid of THE HUMPH, because he is making Yi look bad is absurd.

by Paul Erstein on Jan 21, 2010 12:30 AM EST reply actions

TWill will be fine. Just wait until we have a legitimiate team, with legitimiate players, legitimate leaders, and a legitmiate coach. Would you really rather have had Gerald Henderson, James Johnson, Austin Daye, Earl Clark, PsychoT, etc. I like Casspi and Lawson better than TWill, but TWill has more potential than both. Calling TWill a bust in his rookie year, on this toxic team, is dumb. If TWill had say, Jason Kidd leading the team, we would be calling TWill the best and most exciting rookie since RJ. If RJ had played his rookie year on this team, we would all be calling RJ a bust as opposed to how we called him a rookie of the year candidate. How could a green rookie like TWill possibly succeed in this type of situation? Its simply not possible.

by Chris2 on Jan 21, 2010 1:26 PM EST reply actions

@Paul
I think JohnY is joking regarding Humphries.

@everyone
Just start TWill at SF and give him 30 mpg for a few games and you will probably find out that he isn’t a bust.

Anyone who doesn’t play will be a bust.

TWill was playing good at a couple of times during the year.
Then he did some stupid off court stuff as well as a started to get a swollen head and tried to prove he was a good shooter.

However, there is no reason to believe that the “good” TWill can’t return even better if given a chance like when there are only 8 Nets available.

Certainly with TWill and Humphries Nets would outrebound opposition occasionally.
