At the Bottom and Getting Worse

For the first time in the Nets' ignominious history, they gave up 70 first half points in two consecutive games. Not encouraging and John Schuhmann of NBA.com calls it: "the Nets are getting worse...new ownership and major changes can't come soon enough." ESPN's Marc Stein notes that if they can get a win in one of their next two games, they'll be ahead of the Sixers' pace in 1972-73. Yippee.

Schummann is right: they are getting worse even though they are getting healthy. How bad is that? There are only two or three explanations to me (unless I’m missing something): a) players have given up b) Kiki is clueless c)(which is a + b) Kiki’s offense through Yi is alienating players. I fear this will all splinter out of control soon.
What a mistake to fire Frank, as if that would motivate them. It has made things worse. Frank had 8 bodies a night and yet they competed. This joke or a coach has all bodies on board and he can’t compete.

the offense isnt moving through Yi. It’s moving through Yi and Lopez and the Nets are right to do that. Not many teams get lucky enough to find two good seven footers on their roster, neither of whom is near their peak.

@NI : I think that it’s not that they’re right to do it, but there isn’t much left to do with the Nets anyway – so they’ve got nothing to lose.
I think also the thing is that since Kiki IS management, you have to really know that Thorn has a lot of say in what’s happening right now on the floor as well, can’t blame Kiki for all of their problems either.
If their defense was better they would have more of a likelihood of having a fastbreak style offense, where some of the other guys could be getting more involved.

So all the fire frank people still feeling really hot about that decision? A few months ago everyone was all on frank and now you can’t hear a thing from anyone. So, what have we learned? Be careful what you wish for because you might just get it

They were still right to fire Frank(though not because of this year). Frank should have been fired 2 or 3 years ago. The offense shouldnt run through Yi, the ball should be run through Lopez inside. The problem was Frank had him camping outside the 3 point line which made him ineffective. Now Kiki is overdoing it trying to feed him constantly. You need a balance, not to say that is the team’s only problem. The biggest problem is you have a bunch of vets on their way out so they dont care and a bunch of young guys with attitudes and feeling like they are better than they are. The entire teams needs a reality check and they also need an owner who wants to win games. Even with “Developing youngsters” the team should not have 3 wins at this point, there is a major problem here.

The Nets offense is NOT running through Yi. No matter how many times people want to say it, it’s not true. Inside-out means into LOPEZ and Yi.

I like Lopez but it’s hard to watch him force shots and telegraph his low passes to the guards. How about playing a simple 2 man game by kicking it back out and reposting. And keep the ball high and stop reaching out to the ground to pass! Arggg.

When will the players make a stand and say enough is enough.. this is just ridiculous…

Bring in Jayson Williams as the coach… the players know if they mess up, he might shoot ya.

I await word on what the Bucks will do with Joe Alexander, the first Taiwanese-born player in the NBA.
With him finally ready to play, and Jerry Stackhouse now on the roster, what do the Bucks do with Alexander? Getting Alexander in a Nets uniform will seal the conspiracy to remake the Nets into Team China…or is it Team Russia. I can’t remember.
Fear stalks the land.

Taiwan and China aren’t exactly on the most friendly terms…

I absolutely support Kiki running the offense thru Yi.
All you Yi haters better learn to accept the fact that Yi is the cornerstone of this franchise. If you don’t agree, then the Nets don’t want you as fans.

SWat hit Yi in the mouth, now he’s out of a job. Say hi to Frank for me at unemployment. DON’T EVER PISS OFF YI!

Wilson?
The governments are not on the most friendly terms. And possibly getting a half Taiwanese onto the team may not necessarily be the best way to get China to give any more support.
But individuals (fans) between mainland China and Taiwan do not necessarily see a problem with each other. well the young people anyway. the older people who like to stray on one extreme have other ideas…

Jeremy Lin from Harvard was born in Taiwan, and his parents are Taiwanese, too.
I hope he will play in NBA, then he will be the first Taiwanese in the NBA.
Hollah !
