Quinn Happy to Have a Jersey Home

Chris Quinn is your basic third-string point guard...and your basic NBA survivor. Although he makes a million dollars a year, he's a vagabond: moving from an apartment in sunny Miami to a hotel in gray Secaucus while shipping his and his wife's belongings to Ohio. He's happy to be in New Jersey...saying, "hopefully I'll be part of the solution here, instead of making the problems worse."

Chris,
Rent, don’t buy. While you should be ecstatic that you may see some playing time on a bad team, the time will come when the NETS reap the benefits of all of their cap space. When that happens, unfortunately your Nets career will come to an end.

@Adam
Do the math: even with $25 million in cap space, the Nets will need to sign SEVEN OR EIGHT players next summer, including a third string point guard. Keeping a player who can fill a minor role at a veterans minimum salary is a lot smarter than overpaying for someone who won’t play.

You are right again. Only thing I will point out is that the trend is changing in the NBA and in the future, more quality veterans can be had at the minimum that can be more servicable to us than Chris Quinn.

Chris Quinn is cool with me, a 3rd string PG that can hit the 3. Nothing wrong with bringing him here.

I think we will see Quinn back here next year if he accepts the vet minimum. I see him as backup PG insurance if we have to buy out Dooling and we spend all our cap space on the big name free agents. If we are able to bring in someone better, Quinn is one of the best 3rd string points in the league. Quinn can run a team, hit a shot, knows his limiitations, etc.

He’s not going to get more in the NBA. If he wants to go overseas, I think he could do quite well. Jaycee Carroll is in his second year over there, moved up from last year. No idea what he makes, but to live in Italy one year and then Spain the next in your early 20’s is a great life.
