Game 39 - Pacers @ Nets - Friday, January 15, 8:00

The Pacers have won two straight games in which they trailed by 23 or more. After losing eight straight to end December, they're 4-3 in January. In Wednesday's win over the Suns, Danny Granger and Mike Dunleavy combined for 63 points. Tyler Hansbrough, who the Nets considered in last year's draft, is now starting at power forward for Indiana. There's no word yet if Keyon Dooling will return.

Man to Man defense please. No more zone defense or leaving Pacer’s big for wide open 3s…..

Loss by 10+, book it

by Angelo on Jan 14, 2010 5:59 PM EST reply actions

I agreed…man to man Defense…rather give the 2 then a 3…Yi always trying to help out and end up leaving his man alone…lets see..you man up…

by Akara on Jan 14, 2010 6:00 PM EST reply actions

How about our big’s not going over to help on every drive? NBA players are smart enough to ditch to a slashing, wide open dunker. Makes me sick.

by Tim on Jan 14, 2010 6:30 PM EST reply actions

At least he shows some willingness to defend…unlike our guards…

by DefenseWins on Jan 14, 2010 6:36 PM EST reply actions

I have a really good feeling the Nets are gunna win this one. I’d say I’m about 12% sure.

by Mike F. on Jan 14, 2010 6:38 PM EST reply actions

SEND TERRENCE WILLIAMS TO THE D-LEAGUE!!!

I seriously lost faith in him.. can we please put him in there just so we can see good numbers in the box score when we check up on him? Also hopefully that will send a message to him too, showing that lottery pick or not, the NBA can chew you up and spit you out.

by JJ on Jan 14, 2010 6:42 PM EST reply actions

Loss. Isn’t it funny that Tyler H is their starting PF and Kiki probably didn’t take him b/c Yi of little defense had to be the only show in town. So we have T Will who seems so undisciplined to me. T Hansbrough is exactly what we need. But the guys running the show are blind. Please new owner, clean this place out. I’d keep only Dooling, Hayes, Hassel and maybe Humphries and Lopez

by Yao on Jan 14, 2010 6:56 PM EST reply actions

We are going to kick their butt. And if we don’t, we are going to regroup, and get ready for the next game… That’s what beening a pro is all about. Dust yourself off, find away to improve, and charge the line, once again…

Lets go Nets… Until we get it right…

by Mike on Jan 14, 2010 7:17 PM EST reply actions

I think T Will should get more playing time now, and hope he developes for next season. He has too much upside potential ride him off.

by LEFTY100 on Jan 14, 2010 7:27 PM EST reply actions

I love the optimism mike………. Let’s go nets

by Markito on Jan 14, 2010 7:54 PM EST reply actions

An automatic loss.

by jarkid on Jan 14, 2010 8:00 PM EST reply actions

Psycho T has not done anything yet in the league, I am surprised he is even starting. He routinely puts up 2-7 shooting performances and he is much more of a finished product than TWill.

by Chris2 on Jan 14, 2010 8:21 PM EST reply actions

While Yi defending as well as his mid-range,n Lopez play smartly, things will go well

by kn on Jan 14, 2010 8:47 PM EST reply actions

Don’t know why some fans get too serious about the NETS. We are moving forward. Slowly we are getting rid of undesirables. The only thing I don’t like is we are adding questionable players, but I believe they are just temporary.
I too believe T Williams will get more playing time, now that Najara was sent out. Boone is the next guy. Next year we will have a new coach. Then the coach could be a factor for getting an all star free agent.
Don’t care about not winning right now. I just want to see the young players play a good game even 5 out of ten games. We still have about 40 games left and that would be enought to develope our young players. Brook will be fine. Of course he will struggle coz everyone is focusing on him. If we have a legitimate all star then he would be more effective. Hope the players keep their cool and just avoid injuries and be stronger next season.

@kn
Wont happen in a million years.

by Antoine on Jan 14, 2010 9:14 PM EST reply actions

I wish we could draw a line in the sand. Anybody with the Nets good times or bad, on one side, and everybody else on the other side.

Of course we can’t do that now a days, but I wish we could…

by Mike on Jan 14, 2010 9:30 PM EST reply actions

I also agree on Yi running out on shooter, get in the blocks and rebound. Kiki has to address the rebound problem, send 5 guys to the block to get the rebound. Insane getting outrebound every single game with a 7 feet center.

by Seeker on Jan 14, 2010 9:39 PM EST reply actions

“Next summer, however, the class of 2010 will yield one of the deepest free-agent crops in history. And those players would be wise to put New Jersey at the top of their list”.

Why don’t you non-believers read the Chris Mannix article

Sounds fair and balanced to me…

by Mike on Jan 14, 2010 9:42 PM EST reply actions

we could beat the pacers tomorrow if we drafted danny granger instead of antoine wright… ;)

by jirohkanzaki on Jan 14, 2010 10:32 PM EST reply actions

@ mike you are the man. I respect the optimism. I am with you brotha

by Bruce on Jan 14, 2010 10:57 PM EST reply actions

Late-night development, looks like I’m going to this. First time in quite a while.

by Antoine on Jan 14, 2010 11:33 PM EST reply actions

I am glad that Devin showed his displeasure. It could be consructive since he is the veteran and captain of the team. Someone has to do it as long as it is not finger pointing. Everyone on the team has to play better and improve the defense. Anyone who knows a bit about b ball knows that defense is a team thing. There is no doubt that the entire team play atrocious defense. I believe that CDR was saying what’s on his mind. But what he said looked bad and it sounded like he was trying to say he was doing his job well enough. Look, the team is losing so badly now. NOBODY is doing a good enough job. What CDR has to learn is to be more politcal and diplomatic, which is different from being pretentious or hypocritcal. Maybe like he said, the media was looking for a negative story and he fell victim to it. Anyway, at (tough)time like this, one has to be even more careful about what he says. I never like Devin too much but I think he has been doing well in that department.
I wish we could beat Danny Granger and the Pacers because it is a ‘winnable game’. Sorry, Danny, I have to say that even though we graduated from the same school(New Mexico).

Nets can[t score enough to keep up with the Pacers….also Nets cant defense…lopez is a half court guy..he might be left behind..

by Akara on Jan 15, 2010 12:07 AM EST reply actions

The basis of optimism is sheer terror.

by muwu on Jan 15, 2010 5:43 AM EST reply actions

We don’t have a chance. BUT we will see why passing on Hansborough wasn’t so bad. He can’t compete at NBA level due to his shot which is easy to defend and block by most of NBA’s hyper athletic players…not the NETS of course. He’ll probably rack up 23 and 8

by supernetsfan on Jan 15, 2010 6:13 AM EST reply actions

Especially if Yi is “defending” him.

by Yao on Jan 15, 2010 6:47 AM EST reply actions

Kris Humphries looks good. If rest of Nets could play like they did against Knicks, and add Humphries, then they Could win.

Need 1 or more good trades before deadline though – only 1 if SWill can play some decent SF -send him to D-League to get some PT, or else just take a chance in regular game (since losing doesn’t hurt)

Nets need better backup Center. Trade a draft pick to get one. If only Kiki could teach Boone to shoot free throws ala Rick Barry.

After Proky gets approved, hire Avery Johnson (what ever $ he wants) before New Orleans gets him. Avery will “get into the heads” of Nets players and teach defense too.

by jerry25 on Jan 15, 2010 7:14 AM EST reply actions

hah, the rise of “yao”, that is after couple of bad games by Yi. Yao’s HATRED towards Yi is just disturbing.

by DefenseWins on Jan 15, 2010 9:59 AM EST reply actions

I think when Ray Allen got the unconetested layup on the inbound pass to end the half last game, that moment represented the absolute low point of the recent Nets era, and that slowly, things will get better from here.

by Chris2 on Jan 15, 2010 10:30 AM EST reply actions

we suck = we loose

:( lost all faith on this team.

our 5 starters score +10 ppg still we are 3-36

where is the problem ?

1- lack of a true all-star
2- new coach
3- more weed on the locker rooms

by Mr. omG on Jan 15, 2010 10:56 AM EST reply actions

14 point loss at best

by Mr. Dollar Bills on Jan 15, 2010 11:00 AM EST reply actions

With Danny Granger……….consider it a loss….guaranteed!
