On Pace for 7-75

As the Nets wheel and deal, the gloomy prospect of historic ignominy rises from the swamp: the worst record ever, a perfect match for the worst start ever. Marc Stein notes in his weekly power rankings the Nets are on track for 7-75. John Schuhmann adds that not only are the Nets treading water at the bottom, they don't really have any veterans capable of making a playoff contender better. Oh yeah, they're last.

I’ve said it once I’ll say it again. This is the least talented team in NBA history.

dooling, a healthy hayes, and even boone could help a playoff team. dooling has been better than harris.

Harris is overrated, I hope the front office has sense enough to sell high.

I don’t think it’ the least talented team ever. Our young players have talent. I would rather go 7-75 with young players then go 20-62 playing seasoned veterans.
The organization being in upheavel for the last couple of years doesn’t help our club either.
We don’t have a “real” coach and our ownership is in limbo at this moment. Add on all our injuries and team chemistry problems, and I think we are doing O.K.
We have tons of cap space and draft picks and a new owner and arena on the way.
I’m excited about this team. Of course the losing is very hard to take, but i guess that comes with the territory.
Lets go Nets…

WE won 3 games last month. if we can win 3 in each of the next couple of months we will have like 11-12 wins

All this team needs is a closer. somebody like V.C. We would be in the playoff hunt if we had somebody to go to at the end of games. we need a shooting guard and Power-forward who can rebound. we will get both of these players in the off-season then next year we will be a 4-8 best team in the East.

This team is just terrible. We can’t even blame injuries any more, since the team has been healthy and is still playing poorly. I think we’ll break the record for worst record ever. We’re trading away veteran players and bringing in D-League talent to replace them. Or at least that is the reported plan. There isn’t anyone that the team currently has that will get healthy and get us some W’s. And I don’t see us acquiring anyone who will get us some W’s, not even AK47. The rest of the team is just weak. The front office is talking about Yi as being an “untouchable”? We should have traded him after his first three games back from injury. Since then he seems to have remembered how to miss his jumper, not play D, and not be that aggressive. And Harris just isn’t trying this year.
I thought at the beginning of the season that this might be a good experience for the young guys to play a lot and really get some good experiences on the court. But I think now that it doesn’t work that way. Just playing in a bunch of NBA games doesn’t make you a better player. You need to play with good players, learn how to work in the system, learn the tricks of the trade. Who on the Nets knows how to set a pick (better yet, how to get around a pick), hit a jumpshot, run an offense, work hard to get rebounds, etc.? These guys are amateurs, the coaches are amateurs, and we won’t get any better until we get some professional basketball people as coaches and players.

I would be very sad if we are anywhere near 7 wins. Just the fact that it’s a single digit.
It’s funny because I still remember how a lot of us were expecting so much from this team before the season started. Some were even foolish enough to say that we could make the playoffs or tied last years record. Now look how disappointed we all are with only 3 wins. I don’t understand how a team can play so poorly, the season is almost half over and we only manage to win 3 games.
It’s a very sad time to be a Nets fan. The only thing that I look forward to is what draft pick we will get.

The Nets play on the court is showing up in the TV ratings. From Neil Best of Newsday:
The Nets’ TV ratings have been as bad as the team this season, but this is truly astounding:
Friday night’s game against the Hornets averaged 0.02 percent of area homes – roughly 1,500 total. Wow.

“It’s a very sad time to be a Nets fan.”
That pretty much sums it up. Ratner has gotten away with all of his bs and it’s pathetic. Stern should have thrown him out of his league years ago but he is way too greedy to even contemplate that.

@ AS
Could that number be right? That is amazingly low. Perhaps we could achieve a new record of having no one go to the games or watch the games on TV?

I just copied and pasted from Neil Best’s blog. I have no idea if that’s right. I didn’t watch the New Orleans game until the replay Saturday morning, otherwise the rating would have registered 1,501 people watching.

Scary thing is that we have played a lot of the bad teams already. Twolves 2X for instance.

Lets make a goal to achieve 12 wins! LETS GO NETS!

So will Thorn be rememberd for drafting MJ and assembling the worst team ever? And will Kiki just be forgotten….

Ratner has made the Nets the worst franchise in pro sports.
No one on either side of the river cares anymore, nor will free agents.
The franchise was set back to the dark ages.

1,500 homes??? Wow. The Nets aren’t just the worst team talent-wise in the NBA, but they are something far worse…completely irrelevant on the NBA landscape. I agree with Jersey Pride, possibly the worst franchise in pro sports. (At least bottom 5.) Ratner really killed this whole thing, at least the move Brooklyn offers some light at the end of the tunnel.
