Game 37 - Nets @ Spurs - Sunday, January 10, 7:00

You want story lines? There's Brook Lopez trying to prove himself to his idol, Tim Duncan. There's Yi Jianlian, he of the surprising string of games, going up against the popular ex-Net he was traded for. How about: Can Courtney Lee look as good as he did vs. the Hornets? The Spurs have been underwhelming so far this season and have dropped two of the last three...but they've beaten the Nets 14 straight times.

Two things are certain tomorrow night:

1) Nets will lose.

2) Yi supporters will make excuses for his performance.

Well, you can look forward to another slow start for Yi when they play the Celtics since his confidence is almost guaranteed to be shaken after this game.

by RetepAdam on Jan 9, 2010 5:04 PM EST reply actions

One thing is certain. If Yi has a good game, all Yi bashers will say it was a fluke.

by Mike on Jan 9, 2010 5:08 PM EST reply actions

Why excuse Yi’s performance? He has been stellar. No he isnt an allstar PF. Did you think he was?

Filed under: You can bet your life on it.

If Nets lose it will be Yi’s fault.

If the Nets win, they would of won “bigger” if not for Yi.

If Yi scores 40 pts and grabs 20 rebounds and the Nets win,
“Lets see him do it again”…

Have you ever noticed, most CDR supporters hate Yi.

CDR has been very quiet, and in effective lately.

Must be Yi’s fault, somehow.

by Mike on Jan 9, 2010 5:16 PM EST reply actions

Players are maybe jealous because the coach has a man crush on Yi.

lol mike’ i completely agree, some ‘fans’ on here are so fickle and some seem to support individuals rather than the team.

i didnt come on this site last year but i would have loved to have the read the comments on harris lsat season and compare with some you get now.

class is permanent, form is temporary.

@jackbauer;

I hear you… Rooting for the Nets is like rooting for 15 different teams. Everybody has their own agenda.

Hopefully Proky sets one standard. Team first, personal agendas, your gone…

I hope RJ torches Yi and this barrel of garbage Ratner gave us for 30.

by Isaac on Jan 9, 2010 9:46 PM EST reply actions

I think Tony parker, Ginoboli, and a few others spurs guards gonna penetrate down the lane and give Yi and Lopez scrambling on help defense…

by Akara on Jan 9, 2010 11:48 PM EST reply actions

I dislike the zone D…

Blowout. Fast and hard.

Mike -
you are a little wrapped up in Yi stuff. THis team has much bigger problems than if posters on this little site like or hate Yi. Who cares, really, when you are 3 – 33. I, personally, find it sad and laughable that Yi is our center piece going forward. Scarry. I also fear that we will not be getting any decent free agents as Kiki and THorn spend our hard earned cap space on Yi and Lopez and so on. And I miss RJ and Kidd and Kmart and even VC and the rest. And mostly I miss a competitive team that plays hard for a good man like LFrank. So, Mike, I hope I gave you a lot to be angry with! And, by the way, I am not much of a CDR fan either. I do not like one way players. Yes, I like CDR a bit more b/c he can do more things. But, really, if Yi were a guard or SF, I’d have much less of a problem with him: it’s his complete inability to be a presence in the paint on the defensive side that bothers me.

by Yao on Jan 10, 2010 9:02 AM EST reply actions

Vandawdghes deep affection for Yi has blinded him from Yi’s poor defensive play and lack of basketball IQ. IF we could get any ocach to coach this team i would pick Scott Skiles. A toughnosed, defensive minded guy who will not tolerate players playing soft in the ebgining of the game and make immediate subtitutions!!!

Just look at ESPN today: 3 PF’s on the block – bosh, west, Jefferson. We have everything everyone wants: young players, draft picks, salary cap space, etc. Wouldn’t any of them be a vast improvement here? Wouldn’t even Yi’s biggest supporters, or CDR’s or Lee’s, give up one or two of them for a player like West, Bosh, or Jefferson? They are the real deal: Yi is a poser PF
