Game 33 - Cavaliers @ Nets - Saturday, January 2, 1:00

Will we see Jay-Z Saturday? He's been noticeably absent from his courtside seats this season but with his buddy in town, maybe he'll show. That buddy, Lebron James, regularly abuses the Nets, more so than most superstars. He's averaging 34.3 points in the past six games at the IZOD. The Nets will be going for their second straight, hoping a combination of good health and a home game give them a chance.

All we need now is Jack Nicholson who is from N.J. and Brooklyn’s very own Spike Lee to show up. We will be the talk of the town. Kind of like the WWF in it’s heyday. Beyonce can be Miss Beyonce…LOL

If Jay Z doesn’t bring Lebron here than I have no use for him…..If he does than I will be proud that he is part owner of the Nets…

Yi is going to be unstoppable……He will get Varejo into real early foul trouble….I think that Varejo will probably get a flagrant frustration foul…..And it looks like the ref’s are respecting Brook some more since he got pissed and made his stand against the no calls last week…Let’s see how it works against O’Neal……

anybody selling tickets? hit me up at rsmith31688@gmail.com thanks.
hopefully we see a competitive nets team tomorrow. was at the game vs. NY and im not sure if its a combo of tired knicks and all 5 starters back, but they did look like they could compete with anybody.

Paul B Says:
January 1st, 2010 at 6:30 pm
SCREW JAY-Z. He’s a bad owner.
Paul how can you say that? What would make him a good owner?
I doubt with his minimal investment to the team he has any pull

NJ’s going to have a tough time keeping up on the boards with Andy V, Shaq, Z, and LBJ crashing the boards. If we get killed on the glass, we’ll get killed in the game as well.
I have a feeling Yi comes back down to Earth tomorrow. Cleveland’s a very physical team.
I’m most looking forward to seeing CDR, T.Will and whoever else take their turns on LBJ.

Jigga will definitely be there. And I hope Beyoncé is there too b/c my seats are directly across from where she’ll be sitting - i need SOMETHING to look at for 2 hours! lol

@ NetsLogic.
Exactly. He has no pull, so not being a bad owner should be REALLY EASY. But, JAY-Z manages to do the difficult by being a moron, here’s how:
-A few years ago it was Nets vs. Knicks in the first round, Jay-Z tells a national audience in-game that he didn’t know who he was rooting for.
-This season, no one has located him at any Nets games, yet he was at the Yankees parade and Knicks-Cavs game. Friendship aside, that’s a part-Nets owner at more Knicks games than Nets games halfway into the year.
-I don’t know this firsthand, and since his “music” makes me sad I don’t want to find out, but someone posted on here a while back that in his “Emipre State of Mind (?)” Song, he puts Knicks before Nets.
I am not really a Knicks hater, but yo, jerk, you bought into the Nets. If you can’t be down with them, you should’ve saved your money because someone else would buy your .000002% share w/o further embarassing the franchise.
And that’s why I say he’s a terrible owner.
by Paul B on Jan 1, 2010 10:36 PM EST reply actions
^ Agreed.
But I can understand the “Empire State of Mind” thing. After all, the song was about NY. I’m glad he even mentioned the Nets.

Thats one of the best posts i’ve seen in awhile Paul. Couldn’t agree with you more.
by VC3 on Jan 1, 2010 11:30 PM EST reply actions
LOL
This “bad owner” invested $4.5 million in the Nets. He has no pull because he had only 1.47% of the team. Now he owns considerably less and apparently has lost a ton of money on his investment. And those comments about “Empire State of Mind” putting Knicks above Nets? Maybe it rhymed better that way.

According to Jay-Z’s statement on late night from about 6 months ago, Groundbreaking occurred 2-3 months back and Barclays should be finished in a little over 1 year from now. Maybe he should read NetsDaily along with Marv Albert to learn about The Nets.
Best outcome is a close loss against Cavs, so that LeBron could at least imagine what it would be like if he was added to the Nets.
Yi and his recent supporters could be in for an unpleasant surprise.
Cavs may be best team in NBA right now, so LeBron really expects to win a Championship this season.

KNicks and nets sounds better then nets and knicks…
by Andy on Jan 2, 2010 12:25 AM EST reply actions
jay-z’s ownership of the nets equates to what…a couple gatorade kegs and a bathroom mirror? who cares. (and this is coming from a fan)
as for this game, the loss is imminent.

Beat the Cavs? You have got to be kidding, they are going to “crown us”. King James is going to go for 34 points and sit out the 4th quarter. JAY Z won’t be at the game, because he is home arguing with Beyonce’, because she told him, she is leaving him for me. That’s the same chance we have to beat Cleveland tonight. We should play Simmons and Sean and Alston, and save our energy for a future game, where we have a chance to win. I’ll DVR the game, scan the first quarter, and then erase it. I hope something good is on HBO tonight, or maybe, Beyonce’ will show up drunk, at my door, again. Sure.
by Paul Erstein on Jan 2, 2010 7:25 AM EST reply actions
@ Paul Erstein;
The game is at 1:00 P.M. early afternoon not tonight.
But I guess with Beyonce showing up at your place late last night and all, you might not be up yet.
Maybe you can give her the bum’s rush this morning so that you can enjoy the game in peace and quiet.

I watched just 3 games here in Germany via NBA League Pass (only three because they are too late at night), but all 3 games were games I thought could actually be won – and they have been Ws !!!!!
I’m gonna watch this game tonight and maybe my winning-trend will continue – even against the Cavs….!
Lets just hope that Brook and Yi explode for another big night, Devin and Courtney to shoot and pass the ball well and CDR driving hard to the hole and giving LeBron hard defense and we are WINNING this one !!!!
Lets go, Nets !!!!!!
CDR, steal LeBron’s crown and put it on your own head !!!
by Gyniko on Jan 2, 2010 9:21 AM EST reply actions
@Gyniko;
You are what I call a “real” fan. Hope you get to see more games. Maybe you should tape the games and watch them later on. If your lucky streak for the Nets continues today, Net management might change the starting times of games to suit your schedule. LOL
As for CDR wearing LeBrons crown, his head isn’t big enough, yet!
Have a great New Year…
by Mike on Jan 2, 2010 9:35 AM EST reply actions
@ Mike:
Thanks a lot, man, I really apprieciate that.
I do have the opportunity to watch the game the next day, the NBA League Pass has all games in their archive without Timeouts and commercial breaks which is very comfortable, but watching only replays is just not the same feeling as watching it live.
You know what I mean….
Have a great new year also, Mike !

Who is Jay Z anyway?
I watched him on TV when some MSG idiot had the audacity to compare him to Frank Sinatra.
As far as I’m concerned JayZ’s “music” is pure rap crap.
His “music” will be forgotten in short order where Frank Sinatra’s is timeless.
As far as his supposed friendship with Lebron James – who cares. I want to watch a team that I can relate to. Not a bunch of tatoo covered morons with attitudes.

JayZ’s probably on a yacht w/ Beyonce in St. Tropez. No way he’s shows up for a Nets game during a Holiday Weekend.

KEEP THE FAITH. You gotta believe!
@ VC3
Thanks
@ A.N. & Andy
Maybe there’s something to what you say about the “song.” I do not know. If it was an isolated thing, I might be ok with it.
@ Jerry25
Thanks for helping to make the point with some new info. Jay-Z sucks.
@ NetsIncome & Sonny
It doesn’t matter that he owns very little. NetsIncome, I am surprised, you always tell people to read what others say, but your response was completely unresponsive to the merits.
Because he owns very little, all he has to do to not suck is shut up and, if he’s going to go to basketball games, make them overwhelmingly Nets games. Oh yeah, and root for the team he owns. I don’t care how little you invest, that should be a requiremennt.
4.5 mil, we coulda proba gotten that off some other schmuck.

I’m the same. I watch the Nets on League Pass, from Malta. Probably, in our tiny island, i’m the only Nets fan. However, late as they are to us, I watched every Nets game this year, and will continue to do so even with a 30 losing streak. People are complaining that Brooklyn is too far away. Hello, I’m Maltese, and to me, it’s games o League Pass at 2am, or nothing.
