Lee Is STILL Hurting after Trade

Maybe it's time to bring in Dr. Phil. Dwight Howard, in East Rutherford for his cameo in "Just Wright", says of Courtney Lee, "He's not just upset, he's hurting." This was as of Wednesday! Bobby Simmons, also in town, says not to worry: "Once he gets here and meets the guys on the team, he'll be fine." Lee hasn't been heard from since a post-trade press conference. He will wear #6 next season.

Even role players getting a huge bump in PT dont want to play for this franchise

He’s going through the grieving process, with anger coming before acceptance. Once he meets the new teammates he’ll be able to realize that life goes on (albeit with less wins than he’s been accustomed to in Orlando).

please courtney for the sake of us. Just play this seems like we’re begging a little kid to stop crying. Your a grown man. Just live up to it and play. Its not worth the pain lol it happens all the time. We wont go anywhere if he keeps this up. I have a bad feeling he’ll try to hurt his self on purpose. I hope we aren’t tht bad lol

it’ll be something if he demands a trade lol nah but he needs 2 recognize the oppurtunity. he has the potential go become a great player. So maybe he should reach out to devin harris. he’ll let him know the deal.

If I’m Lee, I tell Dwight Howard to stop talking about me. Real friends don’t relay other’s private thoughts to the press.
by jabez on Aug 13, 2009 5:49 PM EDT reply actions
If he would have made that oop-layup in the finals he would still be in Orlando.
by Dirt on Aug 13, 2009 6:13 PM EDT reply actions
@Jabez
you are sooo right. this is the third time he has talked about it since the trade. what is the point? Nets arent going to trade him back to Orlando or to anywhere else.

This is why the NY post suck. Why can’t they get a direct quote from Lee? Lets hear about Dwight Howard from Shaq… oh yeah, Howard suck!
by malorkayel on Aug 13, 2009 7:04 PM EDT reply actions
I think we should wait for a direct quote from Lee (which the press didn’t bother getting) before making assumptions. What did you expect Lee to tell Howard (his former best friend in Orlando) that he is glad to be rid of him? Lee is a pro and will put worth his max effort in New Jersey. But on a side note lets be honest. Sunny Florida with Championship contender vs. Cold, crowded New Jersey with barely a chance of making the playoffs. Not brain surgery guys. Still, don’t judge the man because D12 keeps running his mouth to the media.

Waaaah waaaaahh
This guy went to school at WESTERN KENTUCY!
He shoukd be happy to be on any team.
He’s got to to remember there are 2 other young guys that play his position.
There will be competition for minutes and for who stays in NJ because someone will go when Bron Bron gets here. So buck up.
CLee should be telling Brook how to stop Howard
1st game is against Orlando
The first play should be Lee and Brook in a pick and roll for a Brook Dunk on defense? VC and DH!
by djheavyduty on Aug 13, 2009 7:33 PM EDT reply actions
maybe it’s Dwight Howard who’s hurting from Lee’s departure.
Seriously though, should someone like Devin Harris reach out to Lee and talk to the dude?
by TK on Aug 13, 2009 7:52 PM EDT reply actions
Let him mope, we have a kid named Chris Douglas Roberts who is itching for his chance.
Lee is probably mad because he could be exposed. Its easy to look good being the 5th option on a team with 4 all star caliber players in the starting 5.
djheavyduty…lol…yeah, im sure Bron Bron can’t wait to come here
by Mr. Dollar Bills on Aug 13, 2009 7:56 PM EDT reply actions
All I know is Lee better get over it and be a major contributor, or the Nets will suck even more than I envision.
by A.M. on Aug 13, 2009 8:02 PM EDT reply actions
to djheavyduty – knocking a guy for having a college degree? Very classy. And is case you missed it he was the leader of a WKU squad that made it to the Sweet 16. Should be happy he is in the NBA? Sure, but shouldn’t any player? It is not a guarantee for anyone. Again, this is all coming from Howard’s mouth, not Lee’s, he will shut up all you naysayers with his play.
by John on Aug 13, 2009 8:41 PM EDT reply actions
Why the heck is it that people are looking at Lee like he is a good player? One thing that gets me is when people on this board are talking about our shooting guard this season, and they mention Lee instead of CDR. Lee is nothing, and he needs to grow a pair of balls (he can even buy some if his testosterone deficiency is so severe).
We boo O. Morning whenever he comes to the ’Zod, we should boo Courtney “Charmin Bath Tissue” Lee too.
by KJV on Aug 13, 2009 8:50 PM EDT reply actions
@ Don’t start giving Lee undue credit for WKU going to the sweet 16. So what he went to the sweet 16? CRD lost in the championship game on a last second shot!!!

it’s all hearsay. it’s a non-story. howard is just blabbing.

chris douglas roberts doesn’t want to play here, but lebron is supposed to.
LOL. what a joke.
by mills on Aug 13, 2009 9:48 PM EDT reply actions
frankly im tired of hearing how Courtney is hurting or sad or this or that. come up to jersey, meet ur new teammates, meet the fans, get to know the area and thats that.
sure it sucks goin from a finals team to a non playoff team, but he was only in the league ONE year, so he has time ahead of him to go through pain and then winning. with the cavs and celtics it would be tough for the magic to repeat as EC champs with or without courtney.
once he gets up to jersey, puts a new jersey..i mean NETS jersey on he will love the team, franchise and state. he will realize he gets to expand his game, take a bigger role on a team and in the league. he will be fine

The only reason I can think why Howard keeps making Lee sound like a big baby is that Lee a) got drunk and threw up on Howard’s couch, b) slept with Howard’s woman, or c) ran over Howard’s dog.

He is a young, talented player, and he is STUCK for the time being. He will adjust and get with the program. He’s got game. On our team, he is a 15 point scorer, at least. But he has a chance to be a really special player. It is all about his head now, he has the physical talent. GO LEE GO NETS!
by Paul Erstein on Aug 13, 2009 10:14 PM EDT reply actions
If he doesnt like behing here, trade him.
For me, CDR can do 10 times more than lee on the Court.
I dont like him a lot either….. he is not a proven man, not a +10 point scorer, he is not happy here. That means he wont play 100% well, he will do some clumsy plays to see if the Nets get rid of him.
Lee get real, you are already here. So Quit behing a crying baby, and do some workout to improve and earn your keep

This is as bad as it gets.
Franchise getting ditched by a sophomore, who wasn’t really exactly the hottest item in his class. Sure, he had an impressive playoff performance as like the 5th or 6th option in a team with players who could create space for him. He is the emblem of the Nets’ hope, which is why everyone is so optimistic about him. Let’s face it! In this team, he’ll have to create shots for himself because we have one and only one competent facilitator, who happened to turn over the ball once every two assists, btw!
Basketball is a dynamic game. Do not just look at it as someone making or missing a shot. You gotta look at the preceding sequences of a shot attempt! Lee, in my observation, was not even average in creating shots for himself. He played under a system with multiple players who sucked the defense into them, and his efficieny couldn’t be understood outside of that.
Don’t take it for granted that he’ll suddenly put up 15 pts per game! He will actually need to improve dramatically on his individual game, and handle the frustration of some bad stretches during the game that he never experienced in the Magic, in order to be an “average” NBA starting shooting guard. Bottom line!

Wow. The amount of stupidity spread on this site is shameful. I realize it is the off-season and everyone likes to grab at straws, but please show me where (since maybe the first few days after the trade) that Lee has said anywhere that he is not ready to, or does not want to play for the Nets. He hasn’t, it has been all Howard spewing junk.
Lee is ready for a bigger role, I do not think he will be an all-star, but he can score 15+ppg this coming season, and he can create his own shot. One thing that he does very well is that he is a team guy, he doesn’t force things to “get his” and cares more about winning than stats. He also focuses on defense every possession. Keep badmouthing him before he ever takes the court for the Nets and keep wondering why all these stories break about players not wanting to come here.

Oh just suck it up LEE..GEEEEEZZZZZ it’s buisness FOOL
by mark on Aug 13, 2009 11:39 PM EDT reply actions
Stop babbling out of naive optimism!
Give me one game as a sample that demonstrates how Lee is a “better-than-average” shot-creator shooting guard (15ppg would mean he’s slightly better than average) based solely on individual skills, but not a function of playing with Hedo, Dwight, and Howard????
This is not badmouthing Lee at all! He came off a rookie year, in which his performance was not close to being the top tier in his class. He’s decent, alright, as a rookie! That’s it! As I said, it will take a DRAMATIC (not gradual) improvement for him to average 15ppg without downgrading his efficiency in shooting percentages. It’s basketball 101!
by biggie on Aug 13, 2009 11:51 PM EDT reply actions
This ain’t nothin’ but immaturity by these 2 (Lee & Howard) – Howard keeps talking and is making himself look foolish. Now they both look foolish. Spoiled NBA first rounders. Howard’s really just a very large immature kid. His brain is not fully developed. To bad for Lee LOL. He is trapped for a couple of years – he ain’t going nowhere. If he wants out, he better improve quick so that other teams come a-knockin’ and offer the Nets the goods, feel me?
by Rocket Scientist on Aug 14, 2009 6:31 AM EDT reply actions
So, here we have a second year player in Lee, that doesn’t want to be on the Nets but some people around here insist a top tier free agent will join this team in 2010. That’s just funny.

^^mills
CDR has NEVER said he doesn’t want to play for the Nets. Was this a typo? CDR is excited for the Nets and to be in the NBA period. He has said so many times.
Vince Carter has been quoted as saying that he thinks there should be “friendly competition” between CDR and Courtney Lee for the SG spot. I totally agree. Win-win situation for the Nets either way.
