Anderson and Ager Help Magic Crush Nets-Sixers

The Turkpikers are now 0-3 at the Orlando Summer League after a 22-point loss at the hands of the Magic Wednesday night. The 'Pikers shot 50 percent from the field and 10-19 from 3-point range, but the Magic shot better and outrebounded Philly-Jersey 36-23. Former Nets Ryan Anderson and Maurice Ager led Orlando with 21 points apiece. Terrence Williams finally got going offensively, scoring 16 points on 6-13 shooting, adding seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Chris Douglas-Roberts, meanwhile, took just one shot in 28 minutes.

I am very upset we should of kept Agur and played him, Twill shows yet again he is a mess up I saw what CDR did for his teamate and I think its nice but shooting one shot CDR is not what you do. Twill 6-13 is very upsetting after what hes shown. CDR cant keep giving Twill shots because in games they wont give Twill shots, I mean look at Mo Agur he played like a total of 10 min for the nets and we picked a guy who has totaled like 20 points in 3 games.

Randy, Mo Ager blows. Hows your brother these days?

by Chris2 on Jul 8, 2009 10:10 PM EDT reply actions

Terrence also had 5 turnovers. Ouch.

@ Randy

You’re upset the Nets got rid of Ager? He’s tearing up Summer League right now, by November he’ll find himself in the D-League.

T-Will is a messup? He had 16 points (second highest on team), 7 rebounds (highest on team), and 4 assists (tied for highest on team), and 2 steals (highest on team). Where exactly is the stat that shows he’s a bust? You can’t compare him to someone who has played a bunch of games in the NBA opposed to TWill who has been through a couple of practices and games in summer league.

“Twill 6-13 is very upsetting after what hes shown. "

What?

You do realize 6-13 is very good right?

by Kevin on Jul 8, 2009 10:19 PM EDT reply actions

T-will is awful … I’d take Ager or Hassell over him ANY DAY

6-13FG 16pts 7rbs 4asts 2stls is BAD???

LMAO….

oh man.

Folks, none of this matters. Richard Hendrix scored 17 and grabbed 12 boards. For better or worse…

by brian on Jul 8, 2009 10:51 PM EDT reply actions

Good game by t-wiil. You can see he’ll be able to add to the game even if he’s not scoring.

by supreme on Jul 8, 2009 10:52 PM EDT reply actions

why is mo ager playing for the magic????

by Andrew on Jul 8, 2009 11:18 PM EDT reply actions

These games have no bearing. It’s good to see T will can score on a lucky night. I don’t think he’ll get that many looks when season starts. What I can see is his rebounds will help, but unlike Kidd he doesn’t show that aggressiveness to run a fast break. Maybe it will change if Harris or Dooling is in. CDR is just too slow and more of a half court player.

by JuliusIrving on Jul 8, 2009 11:52 PM EDT reply actions

I seriously hope for your sake the negative comments about T-Will and Ager are a joke.

Ager is so bad I had to turn off the TV every time they put him in. I have never wanted a player off our roster like I did Ager. If you seriously think a SL box score makes him good, just be a baseball fan.

T-Will freakin DOMINATED that game. Holy terrence wiliams, Batman, we have a player. The only reason he had so many turnovers is because everyone except T-Will, CDR, and Christmas absolutely stink.

T-Will ran the point, hit threes, finished the break, crashed the boards, shut down his man, deflected passes, and even did little things like cross up Ryan in-between free-throws….he a heady kid. I am almost as excited about him as I was about Brook.

That said: J-Rue is the worst player on the planet other than Mo Ager….

he is TERRIBLE….a walking turnover….he didn’t make one good pass….his PER is like -11.00….there is NOTHING I like about his game…..okay, I think I’m done……

I can’t believe some of these comments. This is summer league. Calm down, take a few deep breaths. We should be watching free agent movement. You have got to give credit to Detroit and The Spurs. They certainly have improved their teams. But the next champions will be determined by who signs Mo Ager! (joke)

I didnt even know the Nets let Mo Ager go, I woulda celebrated earlier.

by TheMann on Jul 9, 2009 12:35 AM EDT reply actions

Everyone really needs to chill out about this Twill is a bust garbage. The kid can play. its obvious. rebounds at a high rate, runs the floor, court vision is ridiculous. HE’S A BETTER PLAYMAKER THEN JRUE HOLLIDAY!!! (which isnt saying much. lol) but with all the players who can score the ball on this team (devin, Lee, CDR, Hayes, Yi…hopefully, Lopez, and dooling on occasion) you need at least one play maker on the floor who’s willing to set them up and just play defense and rebound and give 100%. until he develops a jumper thats what he’s gonna do, which is extremely valuable.

by Gmister on Jul 9, 2009 12:48 AM EDT reply actions

Guys im sorry I just had high hopes for a guy that got picked number 11. There is no reason he should of displayed the last 3 games what he did. I hope its not a broken record and it happends every night ive evaluated the picks after Twill and they are doing better in the summer leagues. I am sorry I dont know I guess i am just dissapointed the way this pick turned out and all of you keep defending a player that has been displaying poor basketball skill. Mo Agur did very well but it seems like already Twill has never won a game we cant win a game with turn overs he has hopefully Coach Frank watches early season Twill and benches him right next to boone, sean williams, and tony battie.

by Randy Oreens on Jul 9, 2009 12:56 AM EDT reply actions

Randy what is wrong with you……T-Will hit two threes today and was our second leading scorer….

…What exactly DON’T you see from T-Will?

You’re as negative as you are vague….

by kidshizzle on Jul 9, 2009 1:14 AM EDT reply actions

Kidshizzle,

I dont see a future for our team usually Rod Thorn has been good with rookies and draft picks this year I dont know what went wrong. Last year he picked Brook Lopez and that was practically because he was given to us. We have a record of 0-3 with Twill we might go 0-82 this year with him. No I am very positive I think we have a bright future in the workings of Devin Harris and Brook Lopez. I am happy VC is gone from the team as now we have Courtney Lee who is an average player but a player that plays the role of a young player asking for basketball thats his passion after watching the finals I belived it. After watching this summer league I see nothing in Twill he just doesnt have what it takes this might be the biggest bust in Nets Franchise History in my opinion. And the only reason Twill had 16 points is because the nets coaches saw that we are talking about there new rookie in a negative way. So they asked CDR to let Twill take 40 shots and make like 5 out of them.

by Randy Oreens on Jul 9, 2009 1:23 AM EDT reply actions

Thanks for not answering my questions and just providing another paragraph of ridiculous negative rhetoric.

by kidshizzle on Jul 9, 2009 1:33 AM EDT reply actions

What I dont see in Twill is a future I see him staying with the team for a year or two before entering the D league and our team becoming yet again a laughing stock of the NBA saying we have yet another bust. When I pay my HARD EARNED MONEY to watch the nets play in person and to see the players not even care like some of the recent draft picks then I see Devin Harris, Brook Lopez, Keyon Dooling and Jarvis Hayes looking to win its an insult. Its a spit in the face, Rod Thorn might aswell kick down my door and spit in the face of my wife and my son.

by Randy Oreens on Jul 9, 2009 1:37 AM EDT reply actions

Ah yes Randy, always love his insight. I don’t pay attention to summer league or preseason, I don’t think they indicate anything at all. Remember when Marcus Williams played so well in preseason and even crossed over Marbury, look where he turned up, wait for the real season to make any evaluations, this is just a stage for them to get their feet wet and have some controlled pickup games.

by Netsfan on Jul 9, 2009 1:41 AM EDT reply actions

Randy O you need to chill out…Twill has been playing excellent D and is rebounding like a beast. Check the stats from last year, our rebounding and D was disgusting..so that’s what we drafted for. True his shot wasn’t falling recently but he’ll have bad games and some good games like he did tonight. We have so many young players that are more offensively talented and will improve faster now that we don’t have VC taking all the shots..but you can’t build Rome in a day. At least Thorn is smart enough to address our teams needs even from a PG driven draft..I think he did pretty well.

by Special_Delivery on Jul 9, 2009 1:48 AM EDT reply actions

Last year, CDR was hot stuff in the summer league. Remember him sneaking past everybody and scoring again and again? I was disappointed in him during the season until later on when he started showing scoring and PG ability. He can defend. Maybe he’ll have his jersey up in WHATEVER RAFTERS WE HAVE in 15 years.

by Ronnie Fangod on Jul 9, 2009 1:50 AM EDT reply actions

If Twill is such a “DEFENSIVE MACHINE” Why hasnt his GREAT D won us a game yet in the Summer League why did we get destroyed today by Ryan Anderson and Mo Ager?
CDR is doing an awesome job, in the NBA I hope Twill doesnt try his stuff hes passed by with thus far because he will be a TURN-OVER MACHINE.

by Randy Oreens on Jul 9, 2009 1:54 AM EDT reply actions

Randy fyi, T-Will is the ONLY one playing d….including CDR.

Ager had a big day at CDR’s expense.

T-Will was playing so hard, he was rotating to Ryan to cover Speights, and then getting back to his own man. He got his hands on everything. Our TEAM is TERRIBLE. It’s freaking SUMMER LEAGUE. Who cares?

I disagree it means nothing. You can learn about a plauyer’s game…..

Marcus was a good scorer in the NBA, he just played no D. Summer League translates in game, not production, so chill out and name one guy who has more game and filled more boxes than T-Will….

by kidshizzle on Jul 9, 2009 2:10 AM EDT reply actions

Still don’t understand why they included Anderson. My hunch tells me Orlando would have made the trade without him, especially seeing what the Cavs and Celtics have added.

by A.M. on Jul 9, 2009 2:51 AM EDT reply actions

@ randy

this man played three games in the summer league and ur already throughing him under the bus???? he is easily the most versatile player rookie in the entire league. He’s scoring is gnna come along we dotn have to worry about that, but he’s defense is crazzzzzzzzzzzzy. were not winning any game sbecause we got CDR t will that guy christmas…and thats were it ends.

by Theblkprince on Jul 9, 2009 6:08 AM EDT reply actions

dont blame the losses on twill…its because of poor defense from the big men. The big men are so concentrated in getting there points that they forget to play defense…speights included.

I like twill’s passing ability, always finds the open man for the easy shot…everyone is going to love playing with twill. Just imagine…twill gets the rebound and a FASTBREAK

by Andy on Jul 9, 2009 7:10 AM EDT reply actions

Randy is pessimistic. Don’t bother responding to him.
GOOD game by T-Will. Nice to see CDR get those ridiculous announcers off of his back.

by jerrod on Jul 9, 2009 9:08 AM EDT reply actions

T-Will pound for pound, is the best all round player coming out of the draft. Other players may score, rebound, ball handle, better etc. but T-Will is the best player overall. The Nets got lucky again. A player that smart will learn how to get his points in the NBA.

by Mike on Jul 9, 2009 10:29 AM EDT reply actions

Randy Oreens IS Mo Ager

by Will J on Jul 9, 2009 10:56 AM EDT reply actions

Randy you are one nutty dude. You are getting way too worked up over summer league. we have a team that is a mixture of 2 teams and 2 coaching staffs. so there is not going to be any semblance of a game plan as each coaching staff looking to showcase their guys. it is what it is.

I will bet you that TWill leads all rookies in triple doubles this year. Actually not sure if there is another rookie capable of having 1 triple double. TWill is going to be a triple double machine – like Kidd he will probably lose some due to lack of scoring. I will take that any day.
