Grading the Dumps -- Nets Do Better than Most

In the NBA, a salary dump is when a star is traded for the league equivalent of loose change: cap space denominated in expiring contracts, draft picks, young player(s) and/or cash. A lot of stars got traded: Carter, Jefferson, O'Neal, Okafor, Chandler, Randolph, Crawford. We look at the transactions from the side of the GM's looking for that loose change and grade them. Two guys named Rod top our list.

It never would’ve been a good time to trade VC, we have lots of pieces now to build a great team. Thorn might as well finish what he started and get some more picks/ young players in exchange for the vets.

Oh yeah, we got more than the Suns, Bucks… but we also gave up more than them. But you know, misery loves company and I’m glad for those of you who are happy because this salary dump was better than others.

Otis Smith fleeced Rod, and I can’t be happy about it, but yeah, at least we got Courtney and I find some consolation in that.

God answered my prayers & brought Vince home to Orlando.
We hated to see the rising potential of C Lee go. Dwight,
Vince, Rashard and Jameer along with the Depth and strength of this team Otis Smith is putting together should lead to an
exciting season. Vince, and Rod said it too, deserves to be a part of a team that he can team up with to earn “THE NBA CHAMPIONSHIP”. Vince and Dwight are perfect together and will blend with the team for great success. Thank you Rod!!! Good luck Nets; Brook, Courtney, Devin, CDR and company will be fun to watch. GO MAGIC! GO NETS!
