CDR: Getting Taller and Other Tales from Twitter

Chris Douglas-Roberts has has a busy summer: playing well in the summer league; working out (it seems) constantly; and tweeting, tweeting, tweeting. In just the past four days, he reports: He's now 6'7 1/2" and still growing. He continues to pick Vince Carter's brain. He believes in Yi Jianlian, and he feels "we can be the sleeper, young but nice." He's also been enjoying Mom's home cooking...and posting some twitpix.

Ike Diogu just signed with the Hornets!!
Apparently, never any attempt for Nets to sign him.
I guess everything is proceeding according to Rod Thorn’s plan (LOL).
With Odom returning to Lakers, will Miami now go after Boozer or BBD? If Boston doesn’t do a S&T soon, some team will make an offer that Boston won’t match.
I would even settle for Powe in a S&T. He’s the one player no contender will go after.

As a child I was taught the ancient language of Jive by Mrs. Cleaver. After deciphering the following post sequence on CDR’s Twitter account I deduced that he has reason to fear that cops might be watching to see where he and his buddies are going for the evening. CDR warns his buddies not to twitter where they might be hanging out. Luckily our boy has street sense and knows not to post anything that would be damaging to his image.

Wouldn’t be smart to post what you got & then post what club you’ll be @. Don’t fish bait yourself. Trust me. Unless you on that!

i love following and talking to CDR on twitter. there are some characters on twitter for sure. CDR definitely likes to let his followers know what hes up to and shares a story once in a while.
he recently told a story of himself in HS where he transferred, had to sit out while his new team played his old team and they got blown out, then he played the next time the two matched up and he blew out his old team while getting boo’d
if u use twitter too hit me up @iamxcalibur

It’s rare but not unique. And a number of basketball players have grown after joining the NBA, including Dorrell Wright, who is actually closer to 6’11", although listed at 6’9" and Kevin Garnett who is probably 7’1", rather than 6’11".

Ike Diogu is notorious for his bad conditioning and lack of training focus. I don’t care about who signed him, May or Wilcox, all of whom were lottery picks who didnt make it because of their lack of conditioning. Wilcox, you would have thought, should have gotten a lot of time in D’Antoni’s system. He was out of shape.
Warrick, Moon, and yes Davis would be better.

“Word is Hakim Warrick, transformed from a restricted free agent to an unrestricted free agent last week when the Grizzlies withdrew their qualifying offer, is deciding between Cleveland, Philadelphia and Milwaukee and could choose his new team as early as Friday.”
i guess we arent signing anyone

CDR’s time is now! i expect him to have a good season for the Nets

Based on those twitpics it doesn’t look like CDR is 6’7". Bobby Simmons is 6’7" and he’s like two inches shorter than him.

All this rumors or talks about the Nets’ serious interest in this and that players are just marketing strategy to make more people hope for a better season to make more people sign-up for Season Tickets.
BS!

CDR, Lee, T-Will
who will be the diamond next season?
by jarkid on Jul 31, 2009 7:19 AM EDT reply actions
@ jarkid
Honestly,I hope it is CDR. The boy is very competitive and he is a Natural scorer. Just because Lee went to the finals with the magic, everyone is on his bandwagon. Remember they had a system over there where you just run to the 3-point line and weight until everyone load up on DH to shoot 3’s. Lee may not have those chances anyomre now that he is a Net.
Anyone wonder why he was so upset about coming to Jersey?
by KJV on Jul 31, 2009 7:55 AM EDT reply actions
probably because the fans write with such god awful grammar.
by jb on Jul 31, 2009 8:08 AM EDT reply actions
He wasn’t upset about coming to Jersey. He was upset about being drafted #40, about 20 places below where he thought he would be drafted.
And that picture of him and Bobby Simmons is old, perhaps before his remarkable growth spurt.

Maybe if CDR grows another couple of inches by November, we can play him at power forward.
by Mike on Jul 31, 2009 10:21 AM EDT reply actions
At his current rate of growth, my rough calcuations has him at 7’3" this time next year. We can then play him at center and move Lopez to PF.

Rumor, nay! …LORE claims that Muscle Devil decided CDR should be taller. For 5 hours each and every day he stretches him with his condor like wing span. Muscle Devil!

Look at Bobby Simmons in that picture! He’s such a beast. I wish we had someone in his ear this off-season telling him to work on his lower half so he can get low, box out and grab some boards this year.
He should have lived in a house with Chuck Hayes, Jason Maxiell, Paul Milsap and Brandon Bass. Instead, I’m sure he just worked on shooting threes instead. What a waste of bulk.
Last year I remember posting something about how he should slim down and work on his quickness. Screw that noise! It’s beasting time!

@ NateDD “trife” means trifiling. I’ve been thinking about a twitter account but it seems kinda weird to me. I’ve heard of more people saying stupid stuff on there so I really don’t go.

“You’ve been listed at 6-5 earlier in your career, to 6-6, and now even 6-7 on Memphis’ official website. What is your true height?
I was 6’5 in high school and my freshman year at Memphis I was 6’6. Our trainer measured me at the beginning of this season and I was 6’7. I won’t be 21 until January 8th so I’m still growing. I’m a legit 6’7 now."
That was an interview in 2007 by draftxpress…seems like cdr is lying
