Orlando Pro Summer League - Game #5 - Sixer-Nets vs. Celtics, 1 p.m.

The Sixer-Nets will try to avoid a winless summer league record Friday when they go up against the Celtics, who have a veteran club. Boston has seven players with NBA experience, including their own Gabe Pruitt, J.R. Giddens and Bill Walker. In spite of all that experience, the Celtics have the second worst record in the Orlando summer league, going 1-3. Celts' rookie Lester Hudson is out with a broken finger.

Cmon Pikers! Let’s win this game so we could be tied with the Celtics for the worst team record. (I never thought that would happen)

like i said before 15-67, and wacht it!!!!
it could be less wins in regular season. but lets see the positive thing here, that means a top 3 pick for next year.
XD never thought we could get this bad!

That Dallas pick is looking worse and worse -
PG-Kidd
SG-Terry
SF-Howard
PF-Marion
C – Nowitzki
With Gortat starting games at C. If Dallas stays healthy, they could be top 3 in the west.
Should be a deep draft though.

IT IS SUMMER LEAGUE…AND WE ONLY HAVE 2 REAL PLAYERS ON THE TEAM. I hate when others cap, but I thought we all needed to hear this. The summer league record says absolutely nothing about how we’ll do during the regular season. Nothing. We will be fine this year…I predict 30-35 wins this year. But, most importantly, our young players (Lee, Lopez, Yi, Harris, CDR, TWill) will all get experience and put us in GREAT position for next year. I love what the Nets are doing and we’ll be contenders for years.

Re: Dallas Pick…
From what I hear, Howard will be sliding to SG. That make’s them even more dangerous if you ask me. Though, I think they will still need more from the bench to be a top 3 team in the West.
Kidd/JJ Barea
Howard/Terry
Marion/?
Dirk/???
Dampier/Gortat
Who are you going to put in that second unit with Terry, Barea and Gortat? …Matt Carroll? Kris Humphries? Shawne Williams. Those guys are far from the answer that team needs on the bench. They’re a big injury away from a potential bust of a season.
A versatile guy like Matt Barnes would really be a great fit on that bench. I don’t know about you, but I’ll be hoping they don’t fill those bench holes and their big off-season is for naught.

Well, it depended on which part of the Nets website you believed. One page said 11 a.m., the other 1 p.m. Correcting.
This joint team thing sucks. It is a total mess, top to bottom.

I agree with NI. Whats the purpose? At least if you have your own team, the new guys could learn the coaches system while making mistakes. It might have been a good idea as a cost cutting measure but I don’t see the benefit to Twill or CDR and it ends up as a waste of money anyway.

Sharing a summer league team does kind of suck, but I don’t think the coaches places much emphasis on summer league anyway. I think they are only trying to assess TWill and how he can fit into their plans, and how he fits into their rotation, next year. I think they told CDR to ratchet it back on offense to give TWill some more opportunities. They already know what CDR can do. Having Speights jacking up so many shots doesnt help, and from people’s comments it doesnt seem like Holiday is doing a good job getting other people involved. Just end this thing without injury to TWill or CDR.

Agreed, the joint team thing is an absolute mess. Looks like the Nets wasted more money doing this than running their own team because it was obvious from the first game with Speights jacking up shot after shot that there was nothing to be gained from this.
And that Dallas pick is now essentially WORTHLESS.

Wow, these announcers are such jerks. I assume they’re a morning radio team. How did they get this job? I hope they’re not getting paid.

I couldn’t help myself, and watched pieces of todays game. TWILL and CDR need to spend the next three months in the gym, doing shooting drills, 8 hours a day, every day, even weekends. Neither of these guys can shoot anything but a layup. AND TWILL bringing up the ball is not in our future. We already have three point guards. It may only have been summer league, but it was miserable for “our” team. The only thing worse then our play, was those two clowns taking during the games on the video feed. What a couple of idiots. Makes me appreciate even the weakest of the WFAN guys.

I am encouraged by T-Will’s shot. Sometimes it’s an air ball, and sometimes he buries it, but he shoots with confidence, and his form isn’t bad. Just his consistency.
the scrapplicious nexto-pikers is a terrible idea. It’s obvious there’s no system, everyone is fighting for a shot, and they defer to their “natural” teammates. I agree that it does more harm than good. I’d rather see these guys play in NY with Yi than in that hot mess in Florida.

if they stay with the nets its going to be only untill they develop into proven vets, then they will ask some extra cash and ratner & thorn will have to trade then away to save Cap
