Fratello Seeks...But Can't Get...Interview with Kings

Mike Fratello has 666 wins and a .551 winning percentage as an NBA coach. As Nets fans know, the "Czar of the Telestrator" is also a pretty good TV color guy. Fratello wants back into NBA coaching at age 62, but is having a hard time getting interviews. He was most recently turned down by the Sacramento Kings and as a Kings beat writer laments, it's mainly because he's so extroverted.

The Czar is a good coach who preaches defense. He should be coaching in this league.

I didn’t realize that he had so many wins. How many seasons did he coach? I was just wondering how much success he had…
He does pretty good color, he should stick to that. Talking about potential coaches who are on TV——-Mark Jackson is just wonderful doing color. I am thrilled that he is doing the finals, it is a real compliment to him, since this is only his second or third year doing this, right? I hope he sticks with it. I think he and Breen and Van Gundy are a good trio, as long as Van Gundy either stays off camera, or gets some sleep. He always looks like he just rolled out of bed, after he got hit by a bus.

realistically, most coaches only last a few years before being fired. i think fratello would be a good coach for one of those teams that have been losing the last few years. he will get them on the right track and then they can go from there.
