Thorn Email to Season Ticket Holders
On Thursday, we made some critical personnel decisions to secure financial flexibility for player moves now and in the future in order to give you the best product on the court. That being said, I feel very good about the players we received in return, talented players that will have a positive impact for us in the short and long term for our franchise.
Terrence Williams is a very versatile player who possesses a talent that other players like - he loves to pass. And when you distribute the basketball, your teammates want to be on the court with you, which leads to good chemistry amongst your players. Terrence's versatility is exhibited on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor, as he can guard the 1, the 2 or the 3, and we feel his overall game will only improve over time.
Courtney Lee was a vital component in the trade, because we feel very strongly that he is going to be a very good player in this league for a number of years. We almost drafted him last year, and we are very pleased to be able to add him to our team at this juncture.
I cannot say enough good things about Vince Carter. He was a true professional both on and off the court, and his leadership last season had a direct impact on the development of our young players. We only wish him continued success in this next phase of his basketball career.
The rest of the summer will be dedicated to preparation and building team chemistry. We look forward to seeing you on Opening Night.

I’m probably one of the few Nets fans that is happy about what transpired last thursday with the trade and the pick that the nets organization did. In the past couple years I feel that the team was heading to status quo and drastic measures are needed to revieve the nets to be one of the contenders in the east conference. There’s a saying for every door that closes the is another door that opens. I like the youth and the talent that new players in the team could bring. Looking forward the up coming season.

I agree with Joseph. As great as Vince Carter is and what he has done for this franchise, I thought it was time to turn it all over. I was actually predicting that we’d trade him closer to the Feb deadline. I wish VC all the best and thank him for being a part of what we had.
I am excited about the teams future and have full faith in Rod Thorn to make the right decisions which will take us back to the elite in the east.

I’m willing to wait until The 2010.
I’ll start hexing the owner if they are still being a cheapskate, cutting jobs and not trying to put a winning product on the floor then.

When a business is bleeding red ink, there are a limited amount of things that you can do. The NETS cut their expenses.
The price was losing VC’s star power. Every major move in business has a potential downside. So, we lose another 5-10 games next year. So, attendance gets worse. What choice did ownership have? Attendance wasn’t any good the two years we went to the finals. AND with VC this year, and alot of luck, we might have been the 7th seed in the east. So what. I want to see us in the conference finals in 3-5 years. We need to add players to help us do that. In 3-5 years, Carter is retired. In three to five years, Maybe Courtney Lee is a solid starter on a contender, he was just that, THIS YEAR.
We’ll have Brook, we’ll have Devin. Maybe TWILL pans out. We need to add two more solid pieces, and a supporting cast. The games look the same to me, on League Pass, whether the IZOD is full or empty. AND Management thinks the team will be playing in Brooklyn in 3-5 years, where there just might be a much better, MASS TRANSIT, fan base and a better arena for revenue. I would have dumped VC too. It was the right move, and at least we got some value for him. AND I hope he gets to the finals next year.
