In Day One of Workouts, Casspi, Budinger Impress

Israel's Omri Casspi and Arizona's Chase Budinger seem to have made a big impression at Friday's workouts. Kiki Vandeweghe said of the 6'9" Casspi, "I like him as a player and I think he’ll be very effective in the NBA." Meanwhile, another 6'9" Euro was in the building, one named Boki Nachbar. He's talking to the Nets, but isn't optimistic. And ESPN suggests the Nets might be willing to trade their pick.

i don’t really mind trading the pick if only it will benefit the team in the long run

i dont mind trading the pick either…cassapi sucks though really he shouldnt even be consisdered. Claver is much better play than him in my opinion.

Here’s what Ford wrote…discussing how Boston, who has no first round pick, wants to move up to get a shot at Tyreke Evans…
“If Boston can’t find a workable deal in the top five, several other teams including the Nets (11), Pistons (15), Bulls (16, 26), Wolves (18), Kings (23) and Grizzlies (27) are open to moving their picks. While those wouldn’t be high enough to land Evans, it would get the Celtics a solid pick in the first.”

remember, the Nets are only hosting this workout. I found it weird that Kiki only commented on Casspi, who they legitimately seem to like, but I can’t imagine going at #11.

Does anyone know Casspi’s Israeli stats? How old is he?

Buddinger is a total joke. If the wiz don’t pick jordan hill at 5 let’s trade gs our pick plus their future pick back and a future 2nd rounder for the 7 pick. Then take hill. He won’t make it past the bucks if we don’t.

Wow, Budinger looks a lot like Scalabrine with that awful beard.
I think the Nets trade down to save money and that is why they look at guys who seem like mistakes at the 11 slot.

I just read up on Casspi and it says that hes only 21 years old. He is a tough player who goes to the hoop. Not afraid of contact. His main problem is his long range jump shot. He is not worth the 11th pick. He should be a mid 20’s pick.

I read the following re: the workout today when Dave D was discussing Danny Ainge:
“Ainge split quickly. He had a tee time with Thorn and Vandeweghe”
a.) I would have loved to be a caddy in this game and b.) I’m sure there will be talk about the Celtics wanting our pick if such and such player falls (Evans, etc.).
I really hope we don’t consider trading with the Celts unless they buy a pick or two from someone in the draft. Because their 2nd rounder is the next to last in the entire draft (worthless) and they don’t have any disposable vets/young players that would be valuable to us. Unless they want to give us Perk :)

We should keep the pick. We could get anyone of this group: Flynn, Lawson, Clark, Williams, Hansbrough… and someone who isnt expected to be there could drop too (Hill? Jennings?). Id much rather take any of those guys than trade the pick. The Cs have nothing to offer. Absolutely nothing.
