Game 59 - Hornets @ Nets - Sunday, March 1, 6:00

Devin Harris believes Chris Paul is the game's best point guard...and believes he's right behind Paul. So after three games in which he's averaged 35.7 ppg and 8.0 apg, hit "The Shot" and embarrassed Andre Miller and Derrick Rose, Harris could be looking to show he's worthy of top billing. The Hornets are suffering through a disappointing year, but still, they're 35-22 and Paul is averaging 22 and 11.

take this game, harris playing well with yi in the lineup, maybe it’s time that we can beat hornets at home.
plus, sean williams is back to the rotation, he can help us much in the paint to block and alter the shots against paul or some drivers.

The Hornets are on a 6 game winning streak I believe. This won’t be an easy game, hopefully they can pull out a win.

The nets rising rookies basketball clinic is terrible! The 3 rookies come after an hour and a half later and just stood around and watched while everyone learned how to pass, play defense, dribble, and post moves and then play 2 5 minute long games of 4 on 4. This is for 5 year olds that have never played basketball before. Never do any kinds of nets clinics. EVER.

Play CDR. If Devin or Keyon or Vince is out (or diminished), why not try CDR as their sub? Why coach, WHY is CDR never a sub option? We want to see CDR play!!!

@ memphis. cdr doesnt deserve time he has played and hasn’t done much
by ben on Feb 28, 2009 8:38 PM EST reply actions
Only Anderson and Boone don’t deserve any playing time, I’m glad that it took 60 games before Frank finally gets it.
I’m going to be the first to say it here, Anderson is a bust and Boon should be waive because I doubt any team in the NBA will trade for him.

@ seeker. your out of your MIND! Anderson a bust? when was he considered to be a great player? he is actually playing well for a rookie and still deserves playing time. Boone played well last year starting so i bet someone would want him he just needs a past first guard to play with like jkidd

I went to the Heat/Knick game Saturday night and watched DWADE bring his team back from 15 down at the beginning of the 4th to beat the miserable Knicks. DWADE scored like 46 points and I think had, or was close to a triple double. HE IS AWESOME and will look great in a NETS uniform, playing along with Devin and Brook. THORN/KIKI/RATNER This is YOUR GUY. I think he is every bit as good as KOBE and LEBRON, and they aren’t going anywhere, because they are on good teams. The HEAT stink, why should DWADE stay there. DWADE: Please, in 2010, sign with the NETS. You’ll go to the finals with DEVIN AND BROOK and a few more lucky pieces. All day Sunday, I am going to wear my DWADE bandaid. I don’t care what anyone thinks or says. I am going to wear it for you DWADE!

@Paul
I watched that game and it was amazing what DWade did. The Knicks were in total control of that game until Gallinari accidentally elbowed Wade and busted his lip. Wade got mad and it was like a a mad adult playing against a bunch of scared children. He took over a game like only a few in history could do. 24 points in the 4th qtr and he was blocking shots and stealing balls. Most players get mad and lose their composure. He became more focused and truly punished the Knicks like the local bully. That was amazing to watch. I don’t know if he would be interested in coming to the Nets. But he would truly be the piece to help win a title…

Also, remember that the Knicks are like wet noodles on defense, they will roll the red carpet for you on your way to the basket. So if you get a good offensive player in there, you will beat them for life.

What DWade did last night to the Knicks and what he has done time after time against the Nets and so many other teams is what makes him a star and VC a wanna be star. When was the last time VC had 20 4th quarter points? When was the last time he put a team on his back and carried it? He is not a star anywhere near the way DWade is a star. I am witnessing DHarris turning into a mini Wade. He is now the face: younger, talented, and able to capture the moment. VC is old news. Fans should wake up to see Harris, the rising star. So, when (if we can) trade this bad contract of Mr Fade Away VC then we will have our fan favorite: Sad, but Harris gets more press outside the Net universe than in it.

I thought the same thing, I would love to see Wade in a Net jersey. But is it gonna happen? That’s a whole nother story. Anyways, getting to tonights game, this is very important for Devin Harris. As of now, people are reluctantly putting him in the group of Chris Paul, Tony Parker, and Deron Williams. At least to boost his confidence, Devin has to come up and play a strong game against Chris Paul. If Devin plays well against one of the best defensive point guards in the league, his confidence will sky-rocket and this team will roll. Also, I would consider starting Sean Williams tonight (even though it won’t happen) because Yi does not match up well with David West, a very physical player while Yi likes to roam around the 3 point line. Anyways, LETS GO NETS!!!

I like Harris but lets not get it twisted. K.G is one of the leagues best players,if we put him at point does it make him one of the best PGs? Harris get his dimes because he allways has the ball and if you can drive and dish out to an open man doesnt count. the Kidd needs to slow down and control the pace of the game and not try to own it on every play. You can take Harris 30 pt games ill take pauls 16-23 assist that i predict he will get tonight any day.

@ lolah (and whatever other nicks you use)
i dont think you ever posted a text in which you didnt bashed vc.
i dont think carter is the same class as wade. thats obvious, but you dont need to absh vc that much, come on.
anyways, you obviously didnt watch a game in toronto early this season when carter scored 12 pts in the last 40 secs of regulation, when the nets were down by 7, tying it and winning the game all by his own. that triple to force the ot. that reverse dunk to win it in ot. oh, yeah, you dont want to remember games like that.
i hope vince drops 40 tonight so some people here just will desappear for a couple of days, LOL.
by Andrés on Mar 1, 2009 11:28 AM EST reply actions
As for tonite’s game, we cant ask Harris to put 40 pts for the 3rd game in a row (I wont be surprised if he does, tho), so Carter needs to step it up. Lets hope he keeps his all around game up (it was nice last game despite his shots werent falling) and just starts to regain his offensive game.
by Andrés on Mar 1, 2009 11:32 AM EST reply actions
It is amazing how often Vince gets bashed on this site. I suppose it is either folks who don’t watch the games, folks who don’t understand the game or folks who just want to antagonize us. Vince has been excellent with a few exceptions this year. Obviously, teams game plan to stop Vince. The exception was the Spurs who must have believed that Vince has actually declined. The result was he torched them in the first half. The Slurs sent everything they had against him in the second. Sure, he couldn’t overwhelm the entire team like Wade might, but still no reason to dis VC.
by Ispartan on Mar 1, 2009 11:50 AM EST reply actions
Guys obviously the VC bashers have not seen VC this season, so come on no need to try to convince these guys how valuable VC has been for us this season.
Now I don’t belive Harris or VC will score 40 today, but I wouldn’t be suprised if anybody did.
The game plan?Stop Chris Paul.
Stop Chris Paul and no more easy alley-oops to Tyson Chandler.
Stop Chris Paul and other players will be forced to make tough decisions.
David West is who I worry about. How is Yi Jianlian suppose to contain this guy? He’s been on fire lately.
WE will need everyone to step up if we have any chance of winning this game. Clog the lane, and if I were Frank I’d put Lopez on Chandler, and Swat on David West.
This will be a tough match to win, but we need this win because the Bulls and Bucks won last night!
Let’s go Nets!!!

Can’t stress enough how important this game is to us. Maybe not as important as the Bucks game coming up, but still….

@ yogi
How about the comparison of Kidd/Harris, with a 10 year difference. And now you can’t compare 2 guys that are 5 years apart?
This game is a good test for Harris. He’s up against the best. I don’t expect a win, but I expect us to compete at least.
by kevin on Mar 1, 2009 1:29 PM EST reply actions
@Zartan
Devin is what he is. A scoring point guard. You’re not going to turn him into Paul, they’re different players. I expect that most people that want him to be Paul will always be critical. But he is what he is and Frank smartly went to a system to exploit what he is. If he was Paul or Kidd we would be running a different system to highlight what they do well. If the Nets win I don’t care if he had 6 or 10 assists. Just win…
by Opie's Uncle on Mar 1, 2009 1:51 PM EST reply actions
Harris isn’t a pass first point-guard, everyone accepts that. But even if he was, who would he pass to on this team? Would you rather have Harris shooting the ball or having players like Hassel shooting the ball?

@ Andres
I have never trashed VC, only his Fade Away game. Look at least you see he is not in Wade’s class. Too many Nets fans with VC colored glasses think he is in that class. I will stop trashing when the rose colored glass fans start to look at him objectively: he is a good player, very good at times not great. He is not a 17 – 19 million dollar player. And, Andres, yes I remember that Toronto game, it was not nearly what Wade did last night and not what he did to us. Yes, it was fantastic, but can he do it against anyone but Toronto? Can he do it when we need it now? Can he do it in the playoffs (he has not yet, for us)? I hope he drops 30, too, but I’d settle for 18 and a decent shooting percentage, and getting to the foul line more than twice.
