Stardom, Playoff Hopes Following Harris

Devin Harris has become, in Al Iannazzone's words, a "YouTube God". His London punking by Stuart Tanner and now "The Shot" have taken him to a new level. No longer the guy the Nets traded for Jason Kidd, Harris is a star in his own right. It's more than being an All-Star. For Harris, though, the goal is the thing...and that goal is the playoffs. After all, this is a guy who went to the Finals.

Man seeing this guy grow every time he steps on the court.
He’s amazing.
You guy’s still don’t think he won’t be the Franchise player for this team?

I love Devin, but one has to remember that Devin and JKIDD are two completely different players, even though they play the same “position”. I am hoping that Devin chooses to continue to improve his game. Devin’s passing and defense still need work. Devin has physical skills far surpassing JKIDD, even when JKIDD was in his prime. But nobody has the “court vision” that JKIDD has. I saw JKIDD play the Heat this year, and he still plays like he has an extra set of eyes in the back of his head. But again, I love Devin, and the deal that brought him here. GO ROD! GO NETS!

Devin can play defense and Devin can pass, maybe not at the level of a Kobe Bryant or Chris Paul, but he has the abilities. Wether he chooses to is the question.
A major area of growth for the Nets has to be defense. I truly believe that this team cannot go to the next level if
Devin decides he doesn’t want to guard Rajon Rondo cause he won’t have energy to run the ball at the hoop. When he doesn’t make his shots and the rest of the team goes cold, we always get our butts whooped. He has got to learn how to turn it up defensively.
And he has got to look out for Brook Lopez and Sean Williams down low, especially if he’s drawing all the guys in the paint and nobody has a body on them. Think easy buckets.

the next step for devin is to take his individual defense personally. that is what separates the stars from the middle of the pack. he has to take each match up as a challenge and not depend so much on team D. yeah you need team D to succeed in this league and the better team D is the better individuals are (or at least look), but he has to be more aggressive i think on the defensive end.
he is still a good defender, but he can be better. he knows that, we know that and the people in dallas know that. right now his new role focuses more on the offensive end, but hopefully next year he can focus more on the defensive end and REALLY become a prime time player. maybe not at the level of lebron, kobe, wade, paul, but he will impact this team in a greater way if he can play better D and let the team feed off of that.
devin has been brilliant. its amazing how good he is when he is healthy!!!

It’s easy to say Devin should improve on defense. But defense is more team focused than individual d. The only thing he really needs to focus on is staying in front of his man. But as Yi and Brook mature and we add a more athletic sf the team defense will be better. Teams that play good d play so because they play as one. Chauncey Billups defense isn’t as impressive with Denver as it was with Detroit because the defensive system was better in Detroit(maybe not this year though).
Devin’s offense will get better as the other pieces grow around him. Confidence is everything. Right now he has confidenmce in himself. But as his teammates start to hit a better percentage you’ll see his assistst jump from 6.5 to 8.5. I just think he’s enjoying his freedom and the fact that other teams know what he’s gonna do and still can’t stop him.
Devin, Brook and Yi need to spend the summer playing a lot together and work on their chemistry.

Harris’ has played sub par defense all season, but the fact that i’ve seen this kid play pesky defense in a far better system than the one we have in place right now makes me believe that his individual defense improves as the team’s defense improves(or the coach gets fired). Harris definitely has the tools to be a star on both ends of the floor and i think he will be, as well as Lopez.

Dont’ want to be negative but still as a PG he is not getting other people involve, I see him turning into Iverson.
The plus side about Carter is he seems to be distributing the ball more as a star then harris.

Agre with comment above. He is playing the best ball of his life… but as a point guard, he does take a ball alot in his hands. He is different from chris paul and jason kidd. Chris paul also puts up big numbers as far as points are concerned.. 16 – 20 every game… but he is avergaing more than 11 assists a game.. and sets alot for his team.
Devin is doing good… but he should think about chris paul and jason kid as pg, not iverson.
