Stats Geeks Love VC

Henry Abbott of ESPN's TrueHoop makes an interesting case for Vince Carter. He notes that the three teams in hot pursuit of VC are three of the geekiest, stats-oriented teams in the NBA. Abbott notes, "If they're the ones lining up to pay Carter's massive salary in his waning years, they must see something special." Indeed, after consulting with his own favorite stats geeks, Abbott sees the light...and a tunnel. And, reports SLAM, the Nets' younger players "worship" VC.

Wow henry’s article has been something that I have been trying to tell people for years.
Vince Carter has the stats, shows no sigsn of improvement, and bringing him to one of those playoff contenders, that will make them instant title contenders!!!
this is a very good article. Must read.

this is why we can’t let vince leave without getting something substantial, that puts us over the top in our rebuilding process. but if he stays, he will be our savior and we will make the playoffs

stats are not telling the story of what is happening on the court. Does his team win? Does he carry them to unimagined heights? I have seen Wade do this numerous times. I have seen VC do it rarely. I have seen Jkidd do it. I hope they know what they are getting: a fading fade away or a turnover in crunch time: I really believe he’d rather play in this situation than when the money is on the line (remember Kidd said glass jaw, fold like a house of cards, not mentally tough).

Nothing, even this article, is going to have any effect on haters like John. I do not know John personally but I am ready to bet 1 on 100 he is either RJ/JK fan or Raptos fan.

VC is still one of the best in the game, any knowledgable fan can tell you that. Henry Abbott makes a good point. These are the types of teams that want guys for a good reason. They use statistics to make their team better and more efficient.

VC has never been overrated….popular but not overrated. Today he is as good even without a lot of his athleticism, meaning running up and down the floor dunking on Mourning, Mutombo, Dampier, Shaq, etc. When he’s in a groove it’s dangerous. No one give me that “awe” when he is in da zone.
