A Work in Progress, but Progress Is Their Most Important Product

Julian Garcia and Dave D'Alessandro use the All-Star Break to grade the Nets' progress so far. The bottom line for the Nets and Lawrence Frank, writes Garcia: "The transition out of the Jason Kidd era has gone a lot more smoothly than anticipated." D'Alessandro goes through highs and lows, studs and dud and sums it up: "The younger guys are growing at an acceptable pace...now comes the hard part".

We are going to be the 8th seed. Milwaukee has no players left. They will drop like a rock. If we win the games that we are supposed to win, and steal two or three others, we are in the playoffs. THEN maybe we can be competitive, for a few minutes, versus the Celtics. But we get swept anyway. Maybe LFRANK can use it for motivation for next season! Look for Miami to be a surprise the rest of the season, and into the playoffs. DWADE now has a real center, and Beasley starts and has a half season under his belt. I think they could cause some trouble. Too bad I think they still need a real pointguard, and some actual set plays. You can just give DWADE the ball at the top of the key, and stand around and watch. I am not a fan of their young coach!

The 76ers will likely be playing the rest of the season without Elton Brand, so that could mean something for the Nets. Speaking of the 76ers,the Nets are scheduled to play them again on February 23, so a win there, will land them the tiebreaker for taking three out of four, which will give them the chance to advance in the rankings in the event of a tie. According to their schedule, they do have two more games against the Bucks, so they need to win those two for the tiebreaker over them. Also, they have two more games against the Bulls, who are not for behind them and did beat them the other two times. Honestly, any win against a big team that is in their schedule for the rest of the season can really show signs of life for the Nets.

I think we could surpass the Bucks, and the Pistons are in free fall.
