Game 22 - Warriors @ Nets - Wednesday, December 9, 7:30

For the first time since the opening week of the season, the Nets face a team in similar circumstances...and may even had an advantage! The Nets are 2-1 over the last three. The Warriors have lost four in a row. The Nets are 2-8 over the last 10, the Warriors 3-7. And the Nets are at home. Golden State, however, can put up big numbers in transition with Monta Ellis, Anthony Morrow and Stephen Curry.

Golden State is without Raja Bell, Azubuike, and Brandan Wright.
Anthony Morrow is probably going to play but he’s banged up.
Andris Biedrins and Ronny Turiaf are questionable.
I think it’s another possible win…

I am afraid that Kiki would go small lineup in this game…
CDR Lee Harris Dooling Alston in the same time… NOOO

i think Lopez is going to have another 30 pts 1o reb game haris is also going to have a great gameand also CDR.AND about TWILL i understand what he tweeted hurt all of us Nets fans but benching him all the time will just make him more un confident so we should give him like 10-15 mins of playing time, we will obviously need his defense against a good GSW offense

@ Jim -
Two weeks for Biedrins and Turiaf :D
That means more for Brook, and more successful attacks at the rim…which might actually result in less 3 point attempts (aka misses)
I smell another possible win, too.

This will be a very difficult game. The Nets can’t stop Ellis or Curry, and who says Morrow is banged up? Morrow is one of the best shooters in the NBA, can really light it up from 3-point range. Corey Maggette can be dangerous, this ain’t no picknick. Then again, is there a single Warrior who can stop Brook? Mikki Moore and Chris Hunter? I don’t think so. Devin Harris will be kept in check by Ellis, so we need good games by Douglas-Roberts, Lee and Lopez.

I fear we go small against them… please Kiki, stay away from small lineups…
let’s get the 3rd W of the season! Go Nets Go!

Is Brook AWESOME or WHAT????? Beating the Bulls on the road was EXCELLENT! Let’s shoot a little better from the outside and beat Don Nelson’s chumps and make it two in a row.
GO BROOK! GO NETS! Maybe we are turning the corner? HOPE SO!

One problem the Nets have sometimes is that every mediocre star player (i.e. Al Harrington, Tim Thomas, Stephen Jackson), looks like an All-Star against us. Since Stephen Jackson is not on the team, we might have a shot at winning!

This will be a fun game to watch
Brook should get 20 shots
The Nets depth at the guard spot will help win this game.
That doesn’t mean the team should go small
Brook could use a 35+ point game
BROOK FOR ALLSTAR!!!!!!
by DJ HeavyDuty on Dec 9, 2009 8:47 AM EST reply actions
After a shaky start, Brook has really stepped up. I’m very proud of him and how he’s taken adversity, and turned it in his favor..
CDR is showing that he’s a winning player. Someone posted that he is a “sneaky” player. Loved that observation.
Boone is finally playing to his strengths not his weaknesses.
Devon Harris finally seems to be taking his team leader role seriously. He still seems rusty but as long as he plays smart, unselfish basketball, I’m happy.
We should beat G.S. tonight. Lets go Nets.
by Mike on Dec 9, 2009 9:16 AM EST reply actions
I think some of you are getting a bit over-excited. The Nets are only 2-19, and even though the Warriors have injuries, they still can easily score 110. And that is something the Nets are not too good at. Good luck guarding Ellis. We can’t stop that guy.
by Gerard Himself on Dec 9, 2009 9:16 AM EST reply actions
This game could really go either way. We can win if Brook isnt off and he becomes more aggressive or we can lose if we play small and Brook gets limited touches. I like Brook but he needs to start going with more force, there’s too many times he seems to concede rebounds to the other team or he doesnt just try to tear the rim down. He can dominate against a lot of guys and I’ve been watching him get moved around a little too easily in some games by ppl who shouldnt even be able to guard him, but overall he’s fantastic. If he plays tough he should be abusing the Warriors inside if Biedrins doesnt play. For me it’s too close to call, but I’ll hope for a W.
by TheMann on Dec 9, 2009 9:54 AM EST reply actions
@Gerard Himself;
Can you blame us? We won 2 of the last 3, after losing 18 straight. If we can’t get excited now…
I hate the term “win able game”, but G.S. should be a game we can win, Ellis or no Ellis.
by Mike on Dec 9, 2009 10:13 AM EST reply actions
I think against teams like the Warriors you have to go small. Our big man will never catch up. I think Harris needs to have a big game against Ellis.
I know some of you guys are say force feed Lopez but I don’t that is the right move. Other teams are doubling and striping the ball away from Lopez which we will be give away points. Hopefully Kiki plays off Harris, CDR and Lee.
by Seeker on Dec 9, 2009 10:14 AM EST reply actions
no Mike, don’t get me wrong, I’m a Nets fan. But we still lost a game that we should’ve won against the Knicks. And it’s almost like the people here are thinking: “The Warriors – that will be a walk in the park.” Well, if you can lose to the Knicks, you can lose to the Warriors. If Morrow and Ellis start shooting, it’s just tough. Needless to say, I’ll be watching and hoping for another win.
Every game I’m seeing more and more things what this team can do, and it makes me excited. The last time I felt like this was during a preseason game against Philly, where they destroyed the Sixers by running them off the floor, and driving them to death. Man…. just saw that pass again Harris delivered to CDR out of a spin move… nice!
by Gerard Himself on Dec 9, 2009 10:29 AM EST reply actions
@Seeker;
I don’t see “big teams” playing small, against are vertically challenged team. We got to play our game, let them play mix and match against us. If we fall behind then maybe we go small. Otherwise, feed Lopez as much as possible, and hope for the best.

I agree. If your opponents has weaker bigs than you, but superior smalls, then by going small you’re playing into their hands. Going big is more likely to give you an advantage. I’m not sure how this plays out with Nets versus Warriors. But going big should at least be an option, and probably the first option.
by pinetar on Dec 9, 2009 1:15 PM EST reply actions
Boone is playing very well also. He reminds me of a poor mans Varejo. He is very active on the offensive boards. I believe we can win today, but we can’t sleep on the warriors at least they won more than 2 games.

I think we should win tonight.
Either Curry or Eliis are going to go off on _evin Harris since Courtney Lee can’t defend two people.

Going small to match up is part of why Lawrence Frank is no longer here. We need to bury small ball unless we’re changing up the strategy for a game and its giving us an advantage.

GSW leads the league in steals and turnovers forced and points off turnovers. Nets lose if they are as sloppy as they sometimes are. When B-Lo gets the ball, he needs to move quickly to the hoop with it and not let the guards sag on him and strip the ball. Nets guards also must stop penetration.

Golden State team is built around small and agile big man that can run up the court and shoot. They don’t mind trading baskets.
I just don’t think our big man can run and down the court to keep pace with them. Plus besides Lopez our big man aren’t that great. Unfortunely our PF, Battie, Boone even Simmons are incapable big man that posses any threats of scoring. I personally will go small with Dooling, Alston, Harris, Lee, Cdr and match up with them and run with them.

Golden State is a franchise that has done nothing for the last twenty years.
C.Mullens and D.Nelson played the game however, they both don’t get it in running a 2009 team.
The results over twenty years don’t lie.
Kiki/Del good like tonight in running our Nets to victory tonight.

in this game we must feed brook a lot and give no chance to monta ellis to get hot.
warriors big mans avaiable as far as i know is mikky moore, and he has never been a defensive player neither good in offense, so the trick lies on defending maggette, ellis and morrow (if he plays)
feed brook and let CDR penetrate, harris and lee, if guard ellis and maggette very well, dont need to score.
trust me :D this game is won :D :D :D
P.S i never said by whon anyway :D

@ Mr. Dollar Bills – Don Nelson will surely find a way to change the last part of your post above from “Courtney Lee can’t defend two people” to “Courtney Lee can defend two people” because he has a tendency to put three players on the same side of the court at one time.
by diehardNFFLbarnone on Dec 9, 2009 4:35 PM EST reply actions
I can’t wait to see this game. Win or lose, it will be exciting. TWill will get some PT, as these guys are athletic and run the court like no other team. Morrow is playing and can light it up, but Randolph is out as is Biedrins and most of their other bigs, so get ready for Magette at the 4 or even 5. Brook could be effective, but shouldn’t get more than 32 muinutes. Could Swat play tonight? I would give him a few minutes. Monta is putting up ridiculous numbers, including turnovers where he “leads” the league by a wide margin. If we try to go up and down the court with these guys, we will lose. We need to disrupt and frustrate their offense. Lee is key to our chances there. Fasten your seatbelts!
by jabez on Dec 9, 2009 4:55 PM EST reply actions
The Nets biggest defensive problem, and its ALWAYS been this, is that they have way to much help(over help) defense. The off ball defender will always leave their guy to help on a drive, thus leaving a wide open player off the kick out on the 3 point line. Against this team(and the Knicks, which is why we never beat them anymore) its a recipe for disaster.
I wish someone would just tell them to trust one another, if a guy drives and makes an impossible shot, ill take that over an open 3 any day.
by Tim on Dec 9, 2009 5:25 PM EST reply actions
Kiki and small ball tonite. Was reminded last nite that he is a Nelson protege. Ellis gets 35. Brook gets 30 and hopefully we can hurt them on the boards enough to pull it out before small ball ensues.

Wow… Mikki Moore must be the skinniest guy to play the C spot. At least Harris is back. It seemed like he would miss the game because someone flicked his nose.
by ND on Dec 9, 2009 8:39 PM EST reply actions
The Nets need to do pass drills in practice. Every pass is extremely weak and easy to pick off, I could get those steals. They need to pass stronger and if theyre going inside pass it high, not at head level.
by TheMann on Dec 9, 2009 8:42 PM EST reply actions
Didn’t the scouting report mention that the Warriors are ranked second in the league in steals? Wait, we have no scouts. Maybe they should read this message board instead.
