Can Kiki Help the Nets "Rediscover the Joy" of Basketball?

No one will accuse Kiki Vandeweghe of being a drone. He certainly speaks softly and rarely lets his emotions wander into zones at either end of the spectrum. That's his style. But his substance is more about simplifying the game, permitting players to "rediscover the joy" of the game. And in looking at role models for the road ahead, Vandeweghe sees a diverse group united by two things: that joy...and success.

kiki’s approach allowed them to space the floor and he opened up the game for both Lopez and Lee.
under Kiki, our guys had oppurtunities to score and make passes, whereas under Frank everything was stagnant and dead

Oh, you mean when all our shooters were injured?
Riiiight.

lol, Kiki used pretty much the same team frank had available. Which shooters came back from injury? Battie literally contributed zero and Dooling was still off, so he wasnt exactly setting the world on fire. With Frank we would be 0-19. Gotta love the Frank supporters.

Err….Courtney Lee – the guy who went for 27. He was out for 7 games. Where have you been?
by ppoppa on Dec 6, 2009 2:48 AM EST reply actions
ppoppa may mean that Courtney (our best shooter) has only now returned to “game shape”, as indicated by him starting. An injured player usually isn’t truly “back from injury” until he gets a few games under his belt.

lol… Frank had some chances with the same line up and still blew it! So please dont give me that “when all our shooters were injured” crap… He is just not a good coach, he might be a good student of the game, with the game plans and everything but that doesnt translate to be a better coach.
Let me tell you guys what killed Frank… RAFER ALSTON caused him his job… all of this guys TURNOVERS are mainly what got us to 0-18… if i was Frank, who some of you knuckle heads thought was a good coach, i would talk to Rafer about his over aggressive plays and maybe it could’ve made a difference, but what happened? The guy just kept doing the same thing over and over again, TO’s after TO’s like his a freaking go-to-guy… i think Rafer may have played his last game in the NBA… that’s until the Knicks make a stupid move again and sign this guy for a max contract! haha!

I don’t appreciate being called a knucklehead, thank you.
It’s not like Frank wanted to play Rafer at all. He HAD to. Didn’t have much of a choice.

What’s the difference between Kiki and Frank?
Kiki doesn’t play small ball in the final minutes.
We used boone and lopez in the final 5 minutes, and we defended well, and that’s why we win.
ppoppa, that’s the biggest difference.

Boone is really a big defense presence to help Lopez.
Maybe he is offense liability, but his rebounding and block ability help the Nets a lot. And he got 33 minutes, and we win our first game while many people think he should never be on the court.

@ TaUBeaVis
Perfect analysis!!!
RAFER ALSTON has been one of the worst Nets players ever!!!
Rafer has played atrociously and was a major reason we were 0-18. His inability to run the offense, countless turnovers, inability to establish Brook Lopez in the post, inability to throw a lob pass for easy dunks, horrible decision making including shooting the ball at inopportune times.
During the Miami Heat debacle earlier this season with about 20 seconds left in a tied game; The Nets had the ball and were instructed correctly by Lawrence Frank to take the last shot with no time left on the clock; so either the Nets would win or the game would go into overtime. Rafer missed a runner with 5 seconds left; Brook got the tip-in with 4 seconds left, then Wade won it with a 3-pointer.
Why didn’t Rafer do as instructed and take a shot with about 2 seconds left ensuring they would be no chance for Miami to have the ball??? Lawrence Frank should have benched Rafer for the next game.
I am praying Rafer never wears a Nets Jersey again!!!
Trade him for whatever you can. At this point; I’ll take 2 2nd Round picks. Good Riddance Rafer!!!
