The Many Motivations of Courtney Lee

Courtney Lee knows he is in a shooting slump--although his 20-point, 8-16 night Wednesday may mean he's coming out of it. He also knows that taking 1,000 jumpers a day will eventually cure it. That work ethic is his trademark. So is wanting to preserve the memory of a friend who didn't get to the NBA, and trying to get beyond the signature moment of his career...Game 2, NBA Finals, 0.6 seconds left.

I like Lee, I think he is a playmaker on the defensive side of the floor, but he needs to start knocking down those shots.

This year, I’ve not seen anybody miss more DEFENSIVE assignments, switches and opportunities than Courtney Lee.
Lost.

He is having a miserable 2nd year. With John Wall here next year, and Devin moving over to play some 2, and us getting a decent starting small forward and CDR really being a 2, I wonder what Lee’s role will be next year? I agree with Jron: At times, LEE has looked LOST.

He just got to improve his shooting specially three points, that will end all of this. He should emulate his game to Ray Allen.

I watched some of Magic’s game yesterday and Anderson looks bigger now than last year. He is a good rebounder as well. I don’t think Lee will fulfill his promise. It was more about selling the VC trade than anything else. We should have got JJ Reddick and kept Anderson possibly sending Sean with VC.
Who knows Lee still could work out but he is too small for his position. I think we should move CDR to 2 and play somebody else at 3.

I don’t think this is a shooting slump. He just isn’t all that talented on O. He’ll have some explosions from time to time, but he isn’t a special scorer at all, IMO. He needs to knock down those open shots more, because he usually bricks them. I like the things he brings to the table, such as his D and his fundamentals, he just needs to make more of those open shots and he’ll be alright. 12-13ppg on 43-44% shooting would be OK with me. I see CLee as a solid role player.

He has looked lost and too small. Another Antoine Wright.

What the Nets need to do to become a contender…
1. Have a PF who can knock down perimeter shots…Hopefully, Yi.
2. Need a PG/SG who is a good 3 point shooter…NO ONE on this team is a good 3-point shooter.
3. Have a play making SF…CDR is good but he would be a better 6th men providing good offense off the bench.
A lineup like
PG Harris
SG Tayshaun Prince
SF LeBron or Joe Johnson
PF YI
C Lopez
Lee
CDR
TWill

I have no complaint with CLee.
He is a legitimate starter (for now).
He is still the best pure shooter the Nets have and after only 1 1/3 years in the NBA, he will work hard to be more consistent.
What CLee lacks for height, he makes up for with his leaping ability and tenacious D.
He IS a winner and thus is a Keeper for the Nets.
However, should Nets get Wall, then CLee may have to come off bench and that might be hard for Lee to deal with.
There would always be the possibility of trading Harris at that time, and moving Wall back to PG once he has some experience.

@jerry25 How is C Lee a Legitimate starter?? He Suckkks… Simple as that..I’m kinda sick of EVERYBODY makin excuses for this guy..he can’t shoot, he’s undersized, he’s TIMID..and the list could go on and on…he’s a legitimate 6th/7th man..No way he’s a Better SG than CDR

Lee was listed at 6’5" when the trade went down. He looks like he is 6’2" At best… What happen to the 3 inches?
Shrinkage???

get real, this guy works best as a bench, lacks on what it takes to be on court +30 mins.
Work on your personality and your shooting too!

I wouldn’t mind some of Lee’s minutes get transferred to TWill, who does have more upside as a point forward.
Once CDR comes back, Lee’s and Hassell’s minutes should be cut, not TWill’s.
Most NBA players are at least an inch shorter than stated. I assume they are supposed to be with sneakers on.
Does anyone know DWade’s real height? He is shown next to Sir Charles, who is not more than 6’4", yet Barkley looks 3 inches taller. DWade is listed as 6’4", not 6’1"? Anyone complaining??

@ Mike – Courtney Lee is mentioned as in fact being 6’5" on ESPN.com, CBSSportsline, CNN/SI and his Wikipedia page, so I don’t know where you’re getting this information about him being ONLY 6’2".
