It's Not All Bad

Well, it's mostly bad, but the Nets stats guys have come up with some numbers to show that at least three Nets are doing well comparatively. Brook Lopez of course is averaging 20 and 10, rounded off, and Chris Douglas Roberts has the biggest scoring increase from last year to this among second year players. Lopez ranks second. Meanwhile, Terrence Williams still leads rookies in double-doubles with four.

Kudos 2 all of our Young Nets! But WHEN is Kiki gonna Get CDR INVOLVED?? He has 2 much Talent 2 be treated like a 4th/5th option…What is it?? Its like the Nets are willing to LOSE with the poor shooting of EVERYONE..Brook and CDR are the FUTURE of this PRESENT team..Sorry DH, but its time 2 pass the torch..

T-Will playing well the last few games.

Is there a “biggest drop-off list” and where is DH on that?

by mt57 on Dec 18, 2009 5:25 PM EST reply actions

I’m still not sure about DH. That groin injury could still be lingering. I pulled my groin in a soccer game last winter and its just now back to 95% I’d say. It was hard to do anything for months and even after it’s always nagging you. I suspect that is why he has dropped off.

by Billylaz on Dec 18, 2009 5:33 PM EST reply actions

@Billylaz

Thank you for that analysis… Its just some posters don’t understand how it is to play any type of sport so when players get injured and come back after it all they expect these players to drop 30 ppg not knowing how bad the injury really effected his\her game.

by mikee21 on Dec 18, 2009 5:51 PM EST reply actions

You don’t use your groin a lot when shooting jumpers. If he can drive to the hoop with it, it can’t be impairing his j very much. He is just not a good outside shooter.

by mt57 on Dec 18, 2009 6:04 PM EST reply actions

SOmeone i’ve haven’t been impressed with is….guess…

C. Lee

by Andy on Dec 18, 2009 6:04 PM EST reply actions

Andy, C. Lee isn’t that bad. He’s definitely improving and while many think that Anderson would have been a lot better for us then Lee, Anderson really isn’t doing that well now, perhaps he just started off the season hot.

by Antoine on Dec 18, 2009 6:08 PM EST reply actions

@mt57 I’m glad u noticed how some posters continuously make excuses for players that aren’t performing..if DH can shoot 3s, drive 2the basket 100 mph, outta control…AND manage 2 FLOP every play (offense&D) I’d say he’s feelin pretty good..he just ISN’T as gr8 as some want 2 admit

by The GM on Dec 18, 2009 6:15 PM EST reply actions

If the way he’s been playing is all due to his groin, then he must have hurt his groin last year as well

by Mr. Dollar Bills on Dec 18, 2009 6:28 PM EST reply actions

Hasn’t CDR been out because of an injury? I don’t think it’s because Kiki isn’t involving him.

by JT on Dec 18, 2009 6:34 PM EST reply actions

You know whats sad… I cant remember the last time Brook has got under 10 boards in a game, and yet he still doesn’t average 10! That was my biggest critique of him early in the year, so I am glad as a Nets fan, and a Brook Fantasy owner that he has waived goodbye to the 3-5 rebound games.

Even so, I still don’t think we can judge any of the Nets until we get a full roster. Look at the any team when they lose players, guys do things uncharacteristically, for the good and bad. Troy Murphy wont be scoring 25 a night when Granger is playing that’s for sure…

by Tim on Dec 18, 2009 6:48 PM EST reply actions

The Nets need a sg,pf,and backup c.One should come from a trade(this year)the other from free agency.Along with the draft they should be fine for awhile.Keep lopez,harris,dooling,hayes—- the rest are trade bait

by Frankc on Dec 18, 2009 7:01 PM EST reply actions

Keep:

Lopez, CDR, Jayes, Lee, Harris.

drop everyone else in a trade or 2 and get us a decent team plz…

i just cant believe we gave RJ away for trash, VC for 1/2 player (C.Lee) and 2 old to oldest guys.

Yet we ask why are we so bad!!!

by mr. omG on Dec 18, 2009 7:19 PM EST reply actions

@JT yes he is..but even when he wasn’t, they DIDN’T pass him the ball..he was 5th Option on offense, and STILL put up 16

by The GM on Dec 18, 2009 7:25 PM EST reply actions

wonderful to see some positivity. Sadly enough, after reading this i went to check the boxscore of the Raptors-Nets game, and they’re down 49-19.

by Gerard Himself on Dec 18, 2009 7:53 PM EST reply actions

Any1 watchin this game? TRADE DH and Alston ASAP…ps..KEEP FEEDING CDR and BROOK!

by The GM on Dec 18, 2009 7:55 PM EST reply actions

The game isn’t watchable once Lopez is out with fouls.

However, I am very annoyed with the Toronto announcers.
They are boasting how much more talent the Raptors have.

I am saying to myself, how about Chris Bosh switching to the Nets after the season and then see who has more talent (after Wall is added too).

by jerry25 on Dec 18, 2009 8:02 PM EST reply actions

C. Lee is no more than a role player. We didn’t get a star back, bottom line. CDR is light years ahead of him.

@biggie AGREED

by The GM on Dec 18, 2009 8:55 PM EST reply actions

It’s sadly ironic that the young players on the team seem to play with much more intensity and skill than the Nets veterans. The veterans don’t even seem interested in playing against the Raptors tonite. The players that have been the most vocal about intensity level and consistency (Devin and Rafer) are prime examples of complacency and indifference. That’s bad enough, but they also OBSTRUCT the efforts of CDR and Brook to be effective. It’s sad. I feel very sorry for our young players who are trying so hard without the benefit of the veteran team support they deserve.

by Jeff on Dec 18, 2009 8:58 PM EST reply actions

It’s obvious, Nets management wants the Nets to lose. They must have their “master plan” in place. Proky probably is calling the shots, and he has decided that last place is the place to be.

They are aiming for Brooklyn two years from now.

They do not want to win in N.J.

They might be right, in the long run.

by VC3 on Dec 18, 2009 9:03 PM EST reply actions

Did I just see what I saw from YES with Lopez’s number’s being compared to the all time Great centers such as the Hakeem, Robinson, Shaq, Tim Duncan? He’s a nice second year player but geeez but that’s Waaaaaaaaaay over the line.. I’m not hating on Brook but he is SOFT and shy’s away from contact…. If the Net’s think about building a team around him they are making a big mistake. He’s waaaaaay tooo soft to be any kind of big time center in this league….

by tvtechwonV on Dec 18, 2009 9:05 PM EST reply actions

All Nets fans must know by now, losing = winning. I don’t agree with this policy but Proky must agree with it. When he finally takes control next month, we shall find out.

by NJNRay on Dec 18, 2009 9:12 PM EST reply actions

@ biggie – it is time to trade EVERYONE on the roster and fire EVERYONE associated with this team in ANY WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Dec 18, 2009 9:22 PM EST reply actions

If you lose by 50 points or 1 point, who really cares. Losing is losing. The Nets are really good at losing. So treat the Nets with respect, cause it’s hard, being really good at what you are doing.

by Mike on Dec 18, 2009 9:30 PM EST reply actions

Hey, it’s hard to play the “straight man”. You are the butt of every joke. But like Dean Martin learned, it can pay big dividends. Lets keep losing Nets, the best is yet to come!

by Mike on Dec 18, 2009 9:34 PM EST reply actions

When ownership transfer is taking place all decisions are on hold, so it is not the fault of owners for not doing anything but I think they are not handling the on court situation the right way. We will have to see how YI will change the game for others, if and when we have YI, Hayes that should change the team’s competing ability. Brook & CDR are our best players because they are the only scoring threats. We would have been a much better team had the other VC deal been done, (Pietrus, Redick / Alston & Battie) instead of C.Lee and losing Ryan.

Thorn and Kiki misread the abilities of C Lee. TWill has a NON Winning attitude. If it were up to me, I would insert Swill in PF spot move Boone to Backup center. Move C Lee to bench (sixth man) he needs to shore up the bench, move TWill to starting SF and move CDR to SG give When he comes and plays couple of games he can be moved in to replace SWill

by Sunil on Dec 18, 2009 9:36 PM EST reply actions

@ biggie – Chris Douglas-Roberts is light years ahead of Courtney Lee? did you even watch Courtney Lee in the playoffs last season? And he was asked to guard LeBron James AND Kobe Bryant back-to-back on NATIONAL TV. ur funny and for that matter the Nets’ decision to ask for Courtney Lee almost caused Otis Smith to hang up.

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Dec 18, 2009 9:41 PM EST reply actions

@Sunil;

  Swat is not part of Nets plans, yesterday, today or tomorrow. He is not going to be part of this team within 5 months. Over and out.

orlando robbed the nets can they press charges? C lee, maybe he should put the mask back on he can t shoot ,drive, pass, or guard other than that he,s just fair.

by Frankc on Dec 18, 2009 11:47 PM EST reply actions

@diehardbarone
      Stop living in the past! Things change. Many days ago, the evidence said that agent zero was supposed to lift the Wizards to be a contender. And many days ago, Lee seemed like a star, I agree. He SEEMED like it. It didn’t turn out that way. Roll with it. He’s got nothing on his skillsets that can be remotely compared to CDR. People overhyped Lee. His stats were not even that good last season. He gets promoted to take on a much more important role on a young team, and what happened? CDR didn’t get a chance last year. Now he is showing more and playing better than Lee and even Harris. The here and now has a lot more to do with the future. Roll with it.

by biggie on Dec 19, 2009 12:11 AM EST reply actions

@ diehardMFFLbarnone

Yes CDR is lightyears ahead of Courtney Lee, but so many others are too. Respect to Courtney’s LAST SEASON efforts, but he’s sorry on the Nets team. Without Orlando’s star entourage, Courtney Lee is exposed as mainly mediocre (so far).

by Jeff on Dec 19, 2009 12:12 AM EST reply actions

CDR has a long ways to go too unfortunately. His passing is very subpar. And for all comments made about defense he had chances to stop people by fouling but doesn’t.

I love the confidence Douglas-Roberts has with his jumper lately and on his drives. I thought he had a good chance to score at least 15 ppg this year and he has excelled beyond that at times.

Lee is just starting to get his game going. Calling a guy who averaged 8 ppg last year a star was premature too by Shaq. He does have the look of rounding into a steady rotation player that can average 13-14 ppg. I think that is what they wanted too. If he can do that with 2 steals per game, he won’t be too far from what Kittles did in his last few years here.

by kg on Dec 19, 2009 12:37 AM EST reply actions

@kg CDRs passing very subpar? Are you blind? He had 4assists, 1 turnover…the Nets had 24 turnovers…mainly DH, B Lopez, R Alston, C Lee ALL OF WHOM are SUBPAR passers…and CDR was THE ONLY guy Back on Fastbreaks and THAT’S with a Bum Knee…what’s The OTHER 4 guys Excuses? Cmon, CDR is the MaN..whether the NETS use him ACCORDINGLY is the Question…if Not, I’LL ENJOY watchin #17 destroy this Nets team when he Comes 2 visit…

by The GM on Dec 19, 2009 1:21 AM EST reply actions

@ Jeff – HOW DARE you misspell my screen name!! SHAME on YOU!

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Dec 19, 2009 12:10 PM EST reply actions

@mt57, GM

- The groin is a muscle at the fulcrum point of our body. It is responsible for almost every twist and turn we make. It will affect the Psoas muscle, as well as the Hip Flexors. So in fact, yes it is being utilized for a jumpshot, for side stepping,cutting etc. Groin injuries can take from 3- 6 months to completely heal. I’m watching all of those nifty moves he made last year, and this year they’re all a little off.

Obviously our problems go well beyond that but I’m looking at what seems to be his problems and it seems his explosiveness is missing. That was exactly my problem when I pulled my groin. Getting out of bed was painful and a challenge for almost 6 months. I’m a sports trainer and a fan, so don’t tell me i’m making excuses for our team. I’m simply doing the math here bud.

We can just go with your opinions.." DH sucks so bad.. he lost all of his talent in the offseason."

by Billylaz on Dec 19, 2009 2:08 PM EST reply actions

I was told by others before that if a player doesn’t think he’s healthy, he shouldn’t insist on playing and HURTING the team. Harris’ shot selection and inefficiency are hurting the team. Coming after a groin injury or not, he hasn’t even been playing better than Alston. Neither has been setting teammates up at all. The way Harris plays now is hurting the team. Lopez and CDR were doing really well before Harris came back. Harris came back and pulled down the team’s shooting percentage.

by biggie on Dec 19, 2009 2:47 PM EST reply actions

@Billylaz interesting…I have 2disagree tho, Its NOT his explosiveness that’s a lil off..its HIS SHOT! Simple as that. He’s STILL explosive enuf 2 rip and run around 100mph out of control with either a flop n2 the defensive player or a Horrible shot..and as @biggie mentioned if Ur Hurting SIT DOWN instead of Hurting the TEAM..Difference is being the type of egotistical guy DH is even HE isn’t blaming his terrible fg% on his groin..its the fans and posters like u..He’s is INEFFICIENT..and Besides…Personally I’d Like 2 c CDR get some of Those shots..he KILLS the chemistry, dribbles out the shot clock, ok I think I’ve made my point

by diehardNFFLbarnone on Dec 19, 2009 5:49 PM EST reply actions

@ diehard
      Back up your statement! You did not contribute to anything. What is in the presence that backs up your argument? As I showed, there was nothing you could use. You had to trace back all the way to last year’s playoffs, and literally ignored everything that we all have seen this season.

by biggie on Dec 19, 2009 10:52 PM EST reply actions

@diehardNFFLbarone Says:

Your wrong about C.D-Roberts.
C.D-Roberts is light years ahead of C.Lee.

C.lee should be a 2 with the second unit.
C.D-Roberts should be the starting 2 not the 3 next PG/D.Harris.

IF you really watched the Orlando/Cleveland series. You would have noticed that R.Lewis watch L.James one game and Orlando won. H.Turkolou watch L.James in another game and Orlando won.
C.Lee came in and helped out off the bench. Thats it and that is why he is good as the second unit 2 for the Nets.

You need to two solid units to win championships in the NBA.

GO BROOKLYN NETS! GO BROOKLYN NETS! GO BROOKLYN NETS!

by Dziedzic on Dec 20, 2009 11:00 AM EST reply actions

@ Dziedzic – Neither of them is really a starting caliber 2 guard in this league – trade one of them to Utah for Carlos Boozer and bring the other off the bench behind Joe Johnson.
