CDR, Battie Out Against Hawks

Chris Douglas-Roberts will miss Sunday evening's game against the Hawks with a strained left knee, though results from an MRI exam are not yet known. Tony Battie is also out with a sore groin. Devin Harris (sprained pinkie), Keyon Dooling, Bobby Simmons and Eduardo Najera are all available. Meanwhile, Dave D'Alessandro details what Harris told Rod Thorn about Kiki Vandeweghe's coaching style.

When did this happen? CDR getting hurt? Might explain his poor play of late.

Good Luck “Team”..CDR had ALREADY been Removed From The Offense 2games ago! I’m Glad he can Sit back and Watch how selfish His “Team” Is so he can Come Back with a Selfishness of his Own..Either way..I’m hearing from “Insiders” that CDR has Interest From “Various” teams Throughout the League..The “Word” is THESE teams Want 2 make Him a Very Important Part of Theie Offense….and P.S. NOT as a 4th or 5th option like The Nets are Using Him NOW! GET WELL CDR…Your TRue Fans Are Feelin For U and This “Unique” Situation You are Facing…

Well, on a positive note, it will give TWill an opportunity to redeem himself and provide Courtney Lee an opportunity as well.

NI: I agree, we will see if they can pull it off. Although Atlanta is a very good team! A 5 o’clock start on the road. I’m not looking for a win but a good effort would be great!

WE NEED YI!!!!

I remember when we got Keith van Horn in the Harris trade. and he practiced once to keep his contract in effect then went back home. I think a lot of the Net veterans have chosen KvH as their 2009 role model. In fact, I think we can give Battie the 2009 Keith van Horn award as the Net who collected the most money per minute of effort.

Hang in there CDR!! Hope your’re better and playing again soon. You’re needed.

Start Terrence Kiki. No point in starting Hassell. Maybe him starting will give him some confidence

Enough about yi he sucks

I’m starting to wonder if guys are faking injuries to avoid playing in games. I don’t know – these phantom hurts are becoming commonplace with this squad. This could be a ploy to force a trade. Remember A. Mourning and J. Kidd.

by MrT on Dec 13, 2009 2:41 PM EST reply actions

@Net Income this will give T Will a chance 2 “Redeem himself” How was CDR playing interfering? And Give C Lee “an Oppurtunity” He was GIVEN the STARTING JOB..That’s The Best Oppurtunity a Player Can Ask 4..How was CDR being On the Court affecting EITHER of these Players “Oppurtunities”? They BOth were “actually” Given the Ball..C LEe in Particular Hasn’t Been 1/3 of What YOU thought He’d Be…and YOUR other Personal Favorite..T Will…He’s just T Will…Enuf Said..Feel Free 2 Respond

by The GM on Dec 13, 2009 2:44 PM EST reply actions

@ MRT. This is a young team. If anything veteran players would fake injuries to get traded. You think CDR is faking an injury? He hates losing. You think Yi is faking getting hit in the lip and having 50 stitches? No this is just a bad season with bad luck on top of a bad team. Next season we will turn this around so everyone just deal with it! It’s only one season, we weren’t gonna win anything this year anyways.

by ben on Dec 13, 2009 2:45 PM EST reply actions

@Nets in 2010 CDR’s Injury happened vs Pacers..Being the Competitor He IS, he FINISHED the game and Made No Excuses..

Folks, we need to be realistically preparing ourselves for a 7 or 8 win-season and a new NBA futility record. Thanks Ratner!!!!!!

@ GM,

You need to calm down! I say what I please and you don’t have to agree with it, but there’s no need for name calling. I didn’t write my last post in stone and pretend it was gospel. Maybe you should get away from the TV so you don’t get worked up over every little comment.

by MrT on Dec 13, 2009 3:09 PM EST reply actions

@ GM,

It was a thought, not meant to be taken as fact. Sometimes I write statements just to spark conversation.

P.S. – why do you capitalize every other first letter of each word? Is there a purpose?

“Well, on a positive note, it will give TWill an opportunity to redeem himself and provide Courtney Lee an opportunity as well.”

Give it up – there are no positive notes except for the few of you looking forward to a move to Brooklyn since that appears to be happening according to all of your sources.

This team is utter, complete garbage and now likely headed to the most atrocious record in NBA history. We replaced a highly incompetent coach with a guy that appears even less qualified to direcy the team. We are waiting on Yi Jianlian to be our savior and we have the most hideous road jerseys in the league thanks to our brilliant marketing guru that essentially spits on the faces of the fans on a daily basis.
Please give it up already!!!

Why are CDR’s tweets protected??

by A.N. on Dec 13, 2009 3:46 PM EST reply actions

Kiki is not a coach. He should step down and let either Del take over or another assistant. It doesn’t help when you have Kiki their clapping just like Frank, except not standing up and running around. And than in huddles you have to listen to a coach who you know got all of his advice from the man standing behind him. Not going to work. But this season is already a mess so why not let it ride.

by psychonetsfan34 on Dec 13, 2009 3:55 PM EST reply actions

at psychonetsfan34:

I agree with your above points except for “just riding it out”. Finishing with less than 10 wins would be the ultimate embarrassment in a long line of them for us with this team. I really thought the new staff would bring some improvement but like I said before, they may have found one of the few people around less qualified than Frank himself to try and turn this around. I know he won’t be coaching next season but that is NO CONSOLATION for the next 4 months.

by Isaac on Dec 13, 2009 4:00 PM EST reply actions

@GM
They are unrelated as anyone who has been following this story would know. TWill redeeming himself has nothing to do with CDR being out. It has to do with TWill’s very rough weeK

@Isaac
Woe is you.

by Net Income on Dec 13, 2009 4:00 PM EST reply actions

@Jeff
Was it his left knee that gave him problems last season. One has to hope it’s not a recurrence.

by Net Income on Dec 13, 2009 4:01 PM EST reply actions

Yi is so soft I laugh everytime I see him, he is the worst basketball player in NBA. He can shoot though when open.

Last year Yi sprained a pinky and was out for like 2 months, Devin Harris isnt out a game. Now Yi is out with a CUT LIP! Look at the players that play through ACTUAL injuries compared to Yi.

by Shawn Carter on Dec 13, 2009 4:23 PM EST reply actions

We need to lose again, we are just 1 lose ahead of Minnesota. Please use Sean, Simmons, Hassle, boone and Terrence as first five. Let Brooks, Harris , Lee,Alston and Dooling in if we are trailing lready by 30 points.

by JuliusIrving on Dec 13, 2009 4:31 PM EST reply actions

Question for Net Income—

In your opinion, is Kiki being the coach punsihment or is he being put in this position because they don’t want to do anything permanent with Ratner on the way out?

The way I read Kiki’s answers at the beginning seemed like he had no choice—it was coach or be gone. Thanks.

Michael Kay !!!

Great Michael Kay. This isn’t the yankees what’s he going to talk about?

by ben on Dec 13, 2009 4:42 PM EST reply actions

On any other team Devin would be a mid-level player and wouldn’t have access to give the president a piece of his mind. Just shows how this roster lacks talent. Devin is a great complimentary guy but not the star or leader of a team. This season is just an awful train wreck. I believe we have a shot at the 9 wins the sixers had for worst team ever.

I used to feel that we were in better shape than the Knicks but I’m not so sure. We have a lot of young players and a bunch of draft picks but the current mess will be toxic when it comes to getting high level players to come here.

by OPutney on Dec 13, 2009 4:43 PM EST reply actions

LOL, the “soft” comment sure like to get thrown around a lot. Well, the Nets are terrible.

by malorkayel on Dec 13, 2009 4:53 PM EST reply actions

Harris was an All-Star last year. Tell me how many “complimentary” guys scored 40 points three times in a season or scored 30 a dozen times? Harris is underrated on this board because he isn’t Kidd.

by Net Income on Dec 13, 2009 5:23 PM EST reply actions

more company line Net Income. I knew from the day this trade was made that it was lop-sided – in Dallas’ favor. Kidd at 40 years old will be more suited to play point guard for an NBA team than Harris ever will be. Harris is Basically Marbury without the severe attitude problem (Harris’ is only minor) and without the ability to get 20-8 on a nightly basis like Marbury had. Please don’t ever compare him to Jason Kidd. That is laughable.

by Isaac on Dec 13, 2009 6:48 PM EST reply actions

I’m getting used to the losing but I’ll really be depressed if we end up with the worst record and don’t get the 1st pick……

by NetFan48 on Dec 13, 2009 9:47 PM EST reply actions

Given the situation, the Kidd trade was very good to excellent. Remember, he forced his way out. I think Harris is btw the two polarities offered up. I believe he’s a solid player who should be a big part of the team he is on (if healthy). Might not be a legit All-Star though.

by Paul B on Dec 13, 2009 9:52 PM EST reply actions

Something weird is going on between Rod and Kiki and Dave D knows about it. Is Rod truly punishing Kiki by making him coach the rest of the season, when he really knows Kiki has no clue what he’s doing? What was Devin talking to Rod about during half-time of the Indiana game? Why did CDR post after the same Indiana game, “This is a very unique situation. All i can say.” Hmmmm…

by pawley on Dec 13, 2009 10:21 PM EST reply actions

There’s something fishy because a trade is probably brewing.

by Mohammad on Dec 13, 2009 10:53 PM EST reply actions

"He doesn’t know what he’s doing out there." Poor Nets, they have role players posing as starters in 3 positions and a gm posing as a coach and a developer posing as an owner. And let’s not forget, a swamp posing as a city and no shows posing as fans.

HELLO KIKI/DEL!

RE: Establishing Some Continuity:

C.D-Roberts belongs at the two starting next to D.Harris. The three spot should be J.Hayes place however, do to his injury we have to keep T.Williams there and the rest by committee. B.Simmons/E.Najera.
J.Boone has to be our starting PF sadly to say because this is our off season need to fill.
I keep on telling everybody that in order to get continuity we have to keep people at certain positins for them to excel as a unit.

STARTING BACKCOURT:
D.Harris/C.D-Roberts

STARTING CENTER:
B.Lopez
STARTING POWER FORWARD:

J.Boone
STARTING SMALL FORWARD:

T.Williams replaced by J.Hayes when healthy

SECOND UNIT BACKCOURT:
K.Dooling/C.Lee

SECOND UNIT CENTER:
BY COMMITTEE/T.Battie/S.Williams etc.

SECOND UNIT POWER FORWARD:
Yi.Jianlian

SECOND UNIT SMALL FORWARD:
BY COMMITTEE/T.Hassell/B.SIMMONS etc.

R.Alston comes in for D.Harris/K.Dooling upon injuries, fouls and rest.
J.Hayes Starts at SF when healthy or comes off the bench in rotation until he is up to speed.
You have to keep the core set all year round for next year now. D.Harris/C.D-Roberts/B.Lopez/J.Hayes and the second unit K.Dooling/C.Lee/T.Williams.

Draft next year Only PF/Back Up C/SF
PF-D.FAVORS/PF-G.MONROE/B/C-C.ALDRICH/SF-W.JOHNSON

The positive for next year:
The following players will be gone.
T.HASSELL/B.SIMMONS/E.NAJERA/T.BATTIE/R.ALSTON
MAYBE S.WILLIAMS/J.BOONE

GO BROOKLYN NETS! GO BROOKLYN NETS! GO BROOKLYN NETS!

@ Dziedzic – How would moving Terrence Williams or Trenton Hassell back into the starting lineup in place of Courtney Lee be considered as establishing continuity especially since its been less than two weeks since they came out of the starting lineup?
